Starting the New Week

Sunset

The sunset on Monday evening, when I went to take the trash cans to the curb.

I wrote myself a big long To Do List for Monday, but, I might have been a bit too ambitious when I made the list, because I didn't accomplish half the items on my list!  I took the bed sheets off my bed and washed them, then, put the new mattress topper on the bed before I remade the bed.  I called my sister and spoke with her for a bit and I called my former neighbor T and chatted with her.  I gave Dancer his monthly flea prevention medication.  In the evening, I watered the houseplants, watered the front and back gardens, and picked some more blueberries.  Later, I took the trash cans to the curb and took some pictures of the sunset.  Afterwards, I cleaned the broiler part of my stove and then, cooked the chicken drumsticks.  There were eight drumsticks in the package and I cooked them all.  There were six thighs and I froze them, without cooking them.  Then, I did the dishes and cleaned the litter box.  I also spent some time reading.

Brunch was going to be the two leftover waffles, but, I burnt one of them to a crisp when I was reheating it!  One waffle with banana slices wasn't quite enough, so I had the leftover milkrice and chicken curry, too.  Dinner was salad, broiled chicken drumsticks with a tomato chutney glaze, and corn.  Canned pineapple chunks for dessert.

On Monday, I was grateful for:

- The new mattress topper
- Working appliances
- Phone chats with my sister and former neighbor
- Water for the garden
- Blueberries from the garden

Monday's joyful activities included chatting with my sister, reading, and picking blueberries.

Plans for Tuesday include making an appointment for Dancer's arthritis injection and a return visit to the pharmacy for the medication that is now ready for pick up.

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

Another Look at the Sunset

  1. You must have had a long list because you did get a lot done. The sunset is gorgeous. The sunsets we can see from our house are mostly obscured by trees, but we can see bright colors peaking out sometimes.

    1. Thank you, June; yes, it was a long list. I probably could have done it, too, if I had set my mind to it, but, I ran out of energy! It was a lovely sunset, wasn't it? I can't see the sunrises due to trees and buildings, but, I can see the sunsets. :)

  2. What a beautiful sunset!
Monday here was a joint effort with my husband—getting his retirement paperwork filed after some printer tech support to get the old printer onto the new wifi.
I finished my packing list for Colorado. I have standard lists for trips to my sisters’ vacation homes, cruises, and family event trips which are usually in the midwest. I had to make some modifications for mountain weather, especially since we have planned several outdoor walks (easy hikes) and a train to Pikes Peak. I like to travel light so we’ll see how it goes. I have some ironing and the actual packing to do today.
You got a lot done yesterday's from your ambitious to do list. Hope today is more relaxed, but with a repeat of the gorgeous sunset.

    1. Thank you, Taconix.
You were busy, yesterday! I hope that you have a safe trip and a wonderful time in Colorado. :)

  3. I love your sunset photos, especially the second one. Too bad about the waffle. I often make a to do list and then some of the items get ticked off and some get an arrow pointing down, meaning tomorrow, with luck!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I think my Monday to do list will become a weeklong to do list! LOL.

  4. That's a beautiful sunset! Don't try and do all your jobs on the to do list in one day as that can be exhausting. What you accomplished sounds good to me.
I took Tilly to the groomers today and was told she is going to have to close her shop early next year which was disappointing to me. Her new place is going to be too far away for us. Tilly is well used to her now and I'm not looking forward to finding somewhere new.

    1. Thank you, Eileen.
Yes, my to do lists tend to be too long! My daughter says I should limit myself to two or three things to do each day, but that's hard to do.
I'm so sorry to hear that Tilly's groomer will be closing her shop and moving to a new location. I do hope that you'll be able to find another groomer for Tilly, who will make Tilly feel comfortable about being at the groomer's.

  5. My Monday was very productive! It was sheet washing day, so I got that done. I’m glad you mentioned Dancer’s flea treatment. I need to give Jake his. How wonderful to be able to pick your own blueberries!

  6. That sunset is beautiful!
Yesterday (Tuesday) was my busiest day of the week. After getting home from work, I then have take Lily to her karate lesson. Today is a little less rushed for me, but much like yourself, I need to give the cats their flea treatment. One will sit beautifully and allow me to apply it. The other will try to run off as soon as I open the packet, and will need to be pinned down! I'll leave you to guess which is which. Xx

Oh, I remember those days of rushing home from work to take my daughter to karate or dance or gymnastics classes!
I suppose it wouldn't be Mog who'd be running all over to avoid the flea treatments, would it? :D Dancer used to do that, but, now, he's more mellow. It helps to catch him when he's asleep; with any luck, he'll sleep right through the application!

  7. That list must've been huge if what you did accomplish was only half of it! You got a lot done. Especially with cleaning part of your stove.
I don't recall you getting a new mattress topper. Did you get a good sale on one?
What a pretty picture of the sunset.

    1. Yes, it was a rather long list. Technically, I should have been able to get through it in one day, because each item should not have taken me that long to do. But, I was really struggling with motivation and energy, plus I was experiencing some side effects from the medication I just started. Those are my excuses for procrastination!
The mattress topper was on sale. It's not a brand name one; I opted for store brand. I had been spreading a couple of quilts on my mattress, under the fitted sheet, earlier, but I wanted to see if a mattress topper would be better. I think I still need to spread the quilts under the mattress topper for extra cushioning! What I really need is a new mattress, probably, but, I am not yet ready to go shopping for a new mattress.
