I didn't take any pictures, so I pulled up this old photo of a scrappy string quilt I made in 2020 (I pieced the top in 2019, but, didn't finish making the quilt until 2020; I gave it as a birthday gift to friend R).
It was a sunny and warm day (high of 80F, finally!). My kind of weather!
I brought in the trash cans, watered some of the plants in the front garden using water I had collected in a bucket while waiting for the shower water to get hot, and went to the pharmacy to collect another prescription that was ready for pick up.
After I came home, I had a late lunch and did a load of laundry. Then, I watched the news, crocheted for a bit, and spoke on the phone with former neighbor T, again.
Finally, I dusted and vacuumed (with the canister vacuum, not the robot) the living room and dining room area. Dusting and vacuuming the living room had been on Monday's to do list and got carried over to today. For anyone who is interesting, this week's "room of the week" is the living room, so, in addition to dusting and vacuuming, I also wiped down the inside of the front door and the window sills. I think that is all I am planning to do in the living room, this time around, unless I decide to polish the brassware.
Breakfast was cereal with milk; lunch was a cold cuts sandwich; dinner was the same as Monday's - salad, broiled chicken drumsticks, and corn. I had a mango afterwards and some chocolate wafer cookies.
On Tuesday, I was grateful for:
- Sunny and warm weather!
- My prescription was ready
- A safe drive to and from the pharmacy
- Hot water on tap for showers
- Working appliances
Tuesday's joyful activity was watching some online videos and crocheting.
Plans for Wednesday include gardening with M, paying some bills, putting away the laundry, and dusting and vacuuming the family room.

Tuesday morning bright and sunny. Tuesday afternoon heavy rain again. Todays plans including planting out two new strawberry plants and doing some sewing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were able to enjoy the sunny morning on Tuesday, before the afternoon rain. I hope you have pleasant weather today for planting your strawberry plants and for sewing. I've tried growing strawberries, but, I haven't had much luck with them, so far. But, my gardener M thinks I should try again, so maybe I will!
DeleteI'm glad to read I'm not the only one claiming water from a running waiting to get hot shower. I also use the water from my dehumidifier to water plants. A lovely quilt that you made.
ReplyDeleteNo you are not the only one to collect the shower water, Mary-Lou. I don't have a dehumidifier (I have a humidifier!), but, if I did have one, I'd probably use that water for the plants, too. I know of at least one person who collects the grey water from the washing machine, but, I haven't tried doing that.

That's a lovely quilt, your friend must have been so pleases to receive it as a gift. I'm only planning on going to a store today to buy a few household things i have on a list. Yesterday involved unblocking the bathroom sink as the pipe is getting blocked with my hair that is breaking off, I need to brush my hair not over the sink in future.

It was during the early stages of the pandemic and toilet paper had been hard to find, over here, and my friend preferred one particular brand of toilet paper. I had been able to order some for her and I took it over to her, before her birthday, and told her that it was her birthday present. She actually believed me and so, when I presented her with the quilt, she was very surprised as well as pleased. There is a panel of birthday fabric on the back of the quilt. :)
DeleteOh, I hate having to unclog sinks! Yes, better not brush your hair over the sink. I comb my hair in the bedroom.
I hope you have a good trip to the store and they have all the items on your list. :)

DeleteI did have a good day and today has been fine, too, so far, at least (it's just after noon as I type this).
I will often eat dry cereal as a snack, but, yesterday, I had milk and cereal and it was very good. :) I hope you'll enjoy some cereal once you've bought yourself some. :)

ReplyDeleteToday, I've been enjoying a much needed catch up with some blog reading. I've done two loads of laundry, but I've needed to hang it on the airer, as it's too damp for it to dry outdoors.
I've also got the hiccups, which I haven't had in ages :) Xx

I hope your hiccups went away! I find that taking a little bit of sugar helps to get rid of them, better than sipping water. Something about a change in the taste triggers a response in the brain to stop the hiccups.
That is a lovely quilt. Scrap quilts always look so inviting whereas the fancy designs sometimes look too good to use!

At the top of the list right now is "murder the mosquito that keeps sneaking up on me." Next on the list is "stop scratching and apply some Afterbite". 🦟

What a beautiful quilt you made for friend R. I'm sure she enjoys having it. I just read the funny story of when you gave it to her in your response to Eileen.

Thank you, Debra. I enjoyed making that quilt. Ha, ha, yes, remember when a package of TP was a much sought after item? R had wanted to reimburse me for getting her the TP and I told her it was her b'day present. She not only believed me, she even told her daughters about it! LOL!
DeleteYes, the living room (and dining area) are done and dusted, but, now, I want to wash the insides of the windows (on the list for today).
Sounds like you had quite the busy day. The quilt looks really beautiful. It must have taken a lot of work. I'm sure your friend really enjoys it.
ReplyDeleteI was happy with the amount of work I got done. The quilt was really fun to make - you cut out some squares of fabric as a backing, then, sew a strip of fabric, preferably a dark color, as a diagonal and then, so strips of fabric on either side of the diagonal to fill in the square. Then, you trim the squares and sew them together - either with all the diagonals going in one direction or, to form a cross hatch as I chose to do. It was a good scrap buster project! And I'm tempted to make another one! My friend loved it.
