Time Change on Sunday

Garden Rose

I was able to get an extra hour of sleep, today, thanks to the time change!  It was a beautiful day, too, sunny and warm!  I kept shedding layers of clothing as the day wore on, until, I was in a sleeveless blouse by afternoon!  But, the socks stayed on!  LOL.  Now, as I type this (8:00 p.m.) I've put on a cardigan over the sleeveless blouse.

I spent a relaxed morning, having tea, responding to blog comments (thank you, everyone, for your lovely comments) and reading a few other blogs.  Neighbor T called me, later in the morning, for our weekly Sunday morning chat.

I had a piece of bread pudding, warmed up, for breakfast.  Later, in the early afternoon, I felt motivated to cook!

Sunday Meal Planning and Preparations
I put rice to cook and, while it was cooking, made spicy sauteed smoked sausage with onions, dhal (lentil) curry, and sauteed curried cabbage (the dark color is from the dark roasted curry powder I used).  The smoked sausage was one that I bought for the prayer gathering, but, didn't use.  It's not exactly bulk cooking, but, this is enough for me for several meals, this week, so, I'll call it meal planning for the week.  In addition to what I cooked, today, I have beef curry and chicken-vegetable soup in the fridge.  Before I ate, I called friend R to see if she'd like to join me for lunch or to have a piece of bread pudding, but, she declined.

After lunch, I washed all the dishes and wiped down the stove top and counters.  Then, I took the kitchen trash and the bag of recycling to the bins, outside.  I also took some pictures of the garden, but that will be a separate post, I think.

I gave Dancer his flea prevention medication this evening and he's off, sulking, on the bed in the spare bedroom.  I am not his favorite person, right now!

Later in the evening, I put water to the back garden.  I watered it with the sprinklers as it had already got dark by then (around 6:30 p.m.), but, tomorrow, I need to hand water a few places the sprinklers don't reach.  I must remember to water them earlier in the day.  I watered the houseplants, too.

Today, I am grateful for:
- An extra hour of sleep
- A warm, sunny day
- Lemons and pineapple guava from the garden
- Roses in November
- Kind comments from all of you who read my blog.

Today's joyful activity was enjoying the garden on a warm, sunny day.

Monday's To Do List:
- Pay the gas bill
- Go to the post office
- Hand water the side garden
- Change my bed sheets
- Load of laundry (bed sheets/towels)
- Dust living room & dining area
- Take trash cans to the curb for Tuesday trash pick up

How was your Sunday?  What have you planned for tomorrow?

    1. Thank you, Andrea. The roses are coming to the end of their flowering season and I'll prune them in January, but, until then, they flower every now and then. I'm having more relaxed days now that I've settled into being retired! I rather like it, to tell you the truth!

  2. The day seemed really long to me. We were all quite tired by bedtime!

Poor Dancer. He'll sulk for a little then decide to forgive you and demand attention lol.

Hope you have a good Monday!

    2. I generally don't feel this time change as much as I feel the one to daylight savings, in spring. That one seems harder to get used to.

Dancer sulked and then, he threw up (I think he managed to lick some of the medicine!) and had me worried. But, he's fine, this morning.

The handyman called and said he's coming to replace the garage side door, today, so, it's going to be a good day, I think. :) Hope your Monday is going well.

  3. You did a great job cooking for the week. Not only did you make some delicious looking dishes, you cleaned up. That's often my downfall. I'm tired after cooking and save the cleanup until later.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. I felt energetic, yesterday! Otherwise, I tend to keep the washing up until later, myself. Occasionally, I cook everything in one pan, washing it each time between dishes. Then, at the end, I have only one pan to wash! :D

  4. It's quite chilly here today and I feel cold all the time even though I am wearing plenty of layers and the heating is on!

Our clocks changed last weekend. It's not quite the same now I'm retired as I can't say I benefited from the extra hour at all.

    1. I'm sorry you are feeling cold, Eileen. I hate feeling cold. I'd rather be too hot than cold. Maybe you could have a small space heater near you for added warmth? Or, perhaps, raise the thermostat?

I find this time change easier to adjust to, than the one in the spring. But, you are right - being retired, it really doesn't make that much of a difference!

  5. It’s just so dark so early! Your food looks good.

    1. Yes, it does get dark early. I need to adjust my schedule, accordingly - water the garden at 5:00 p.m., instead of waiting until 6:00 p.m., etc.

Thank you. Now I don't have to cook for another couple of days, unless I want to! :)

  6. Hi Bless, It was busy but productive. I got a lot of vacation planning arranged. There is so much preparation, but it is all worth it. Your guavas look incredible! I tried to grow them here, but they were so tiny. I wasn't successful.

    1. Oh, what fun to be planning another vacation! Another cruise? I'm sure there are lots of details to plan out!

The guavas from this one tree are nice and big! I have two other feijoa trees that are not doing as well. One is all dried up and probably dying; the other one is struggling. They are old trees - they were already here when I bought the house and they looked quite old, even then!
