November Decluttering

My goal was to declutter 64 (+ 1) items this month - one for every year of my life and another one to "grow on"!  LOL. 

1 chipped plate
1 non-steaming iron
1 rice cooker with faulty switch (goes off before the rice is fully cooked)
1 old kitchen towel
4 nail polish bottles
3 books
2 pairs holey socks
1 "fanny pack" (belted pouch)
4 jackets
14 blouses
7 cardigans/sweaters
2 pairs slacks/jeans
9 skirts
6 scarves
5 food storage containers
1 hat
2 pot holders
1 tote bag
= 65

A lot of the clothes were what one of my aunts had given me.  I kept them to see if I would wear them, but, I didn't.  My daughter took some items, but, I didn't add those items to the count; I am only counting what has left, or will be leaving, the house.  I now have two bags of clothes to be donated. 

Decluttering is an on-going challenge for me.    I keep putting off decluttering the "collectibles" and finding easier things, like clothes, to declutter!  But, I'll get there, eventually.  Did you have a goal of declutter X number of items in November?  If so, did you achieve your goal?

  1. I was not very organised about decluttering in November, although I did take a bag of clothes to the Charity Shop and I passed on two favourite skirts to a teenage friend (I'm too old and too fat for them - but she lived them!) I'm impressed by your achievements.

  2. Well done Bless. I managed to declutter the 64 items. This was mostly books to the charity shop or to friends, but also unwanted/broken household items which went to the skip.

    I doubt I will do more than the 5 big items I have challenged myself to declutter in December but have plans for a January challenge.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. I was happy I was able to meet my goal. You did well with what you were able to declutter and, I think, the 5 big items in December will probably have more of an impact than several smaller items. I am not sure if I can manage to declutter a lot in December, myself, but your January challenge sounds interesting. :)

  5. Great job with the decluttering! I got rid of a major haul today. Son2 took a box filled with Nutcrackers to use in their decorating. I told him explicitly it is a one way trip! Got rid of 12 items in one box! Yippee!

    1. Well done! Hopefully, they don't find their way back to your house after the holidays! :D I was discussing my Christmas decorations with my daughter; she said she didn't mind if I got rid of my Santa collection, but, she wants the winter village kept!

  6. You did really well this month with the de-cluttering.
    Inspired by you, I kept track because I was curious and my list totalled 34 which I was pleased with.

    I enjoy getting rid of things that have become useless.
