Playing with Fabric on Saturday

I slept in on Saturday.  I woke up, once, around 7:30 a.m., when a friend texted me a photo of her new born baby granddaughter (the one for whom I made the baby girl quilt), and, I suppose I should have got up, then, but, I went back to sleep!

Once I was up and had my tea, I did a little paperwork, watched some TV, and finished knitting another hat.

M came by in the early afternoon and he cut down the dead guava tree that was growing in the side yard, planted the cannas, the sage, and the variegated iris, and watered them.  Now, we keep our fingers crossed and hope they all grow!  I will water the garden, again, on Monday and, our forecast says it might rain on Wednesday!

It was a warm, sunny day, today, with a high of 82F.  Tomorrow is supposed to be hot, with a high of 90F!  Then, it will get cool with a high of only 56F on Wednesday!

In the evening, I played with some fabric, arranging and rearranging the scrap pieced blocks that I sewed earlier.  I am still trying to decide which is the best arrangement for the blocks.

Chevrons

Small Diamonds

Or, a big diamond?

Central Diamond

Slightly Off-Centered Diamond

Of course, I had help, as usual:

Helper Kitty

Which arrangement do you like best?

Today, I am grateful for:
- A sunny, warm day
- M helping with the garden
- Dancer helping with the quilt!
- Time to play with fabric
- Fresh lemonade

Today's joyful activity was playing with fabric.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. If I get to weigh in, I like the small diamonds. Looks like Dancer likes a big diamond.

    1. You certainly get to weigh in, Live and Learn. :) My daughter, too, prefers the small diamonds. Dancer just likes to be in the middle of it all! :D

  2. I like the small diamonds the best, but they all look great! I'm a fairly new knitter (lots of baby blankets and a couple of hats), and I'm amazed at how quickly you knit. I would love to try to knit a pair of mittens, but I'm terrified of double pointed needles!

    1. Thank you, Bobbie. Double pointed needles don't have to be scary. Give them a try. :)

  3. All lovely, but my own preference is for the small diamonds. You must have oodles of patience, Bless! Isn't that just typical of a cat? Anything new and there they are.

    1. Thank you, Eloise. This is really my favorite part of quilt making - arranging the quilt blocks. I can play with them for hours! Dancer likes to help! :D

  5. That's a difficult choice. I like all the arrangements but if I have to settle on one, I choose the central diamond.

  8. Well, I hope Dancer won't be offended but I join the ladies who prefer the small diamonds. Of course it is really up to you and Dancer to decide, the large diamond is very effective, too.

The weather was pleasant today, around zero (yes, that is pleasant compared to what it might have been), and I went out into the yard and clipped some evergreens to use for decorating, if I get around to it! It occurred to me that it might be a good idea to set up the Christmas lights on the bush in front of the house while it is mild and very little snow around, but I was ready for a rest by then.

    1. LOL, Bushlady, I don't think Dancer will be offended. It seems the small diamonds have the majority vote!

Well, I'm glad you consider "around zero" to be pleasant. :D It was around 90F, here, and I thought it was very pleasant! LOL. Sounds like a good plan to put the lights on the bushes before it gets too cold. Maybe it will still be pleasant tomorrow or the day after and you can do the lights, then.

  9. I like the one with small diamonds. :)

You are lucky to have a good helper. I wonder what pattern Dancer likes better. :)

    1. The small diamonds is the pattern most people liked! Dancer says he likes any pattern as long as he can sprawl on it! :D
