Shopping on Saturday

New Blouse

Daughter and I went shopping, this morning, at one of our favorite discount stores (this one branch is still open; all the others have closed) and bought some clothes.  She found several items she liked and I bought myself one short sleeved blouse for $3.99.

I also bought two plush throws/blankets to give as holiday gifts, with a design of poinsettias printed on them; one has a white background and the other has a black background.  It's getting to be that time of year to start thinking about holiday gifts!

After we came home, daughter went out with one of her friends to lunch.  I had lunch at home.  After daughter came back, we spent a relaxed afternoon and evening at home.  I ran the dishwasher and cooked more lentils for dinner (to go with leftovers).  Cousin P called and we chatted a bit.

Tomorrow, daughter will attend the wedding reception of one of her friends from middle school, in the afternoon.  Her friend A will give her a ride there and back.  I might do a little grocery shopping while she's out.  I think we'll probably just stay home in the evening and relax.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Another warm (high of 95F) and sunny day
- Good deals at the discount store
- A new blouse
- Fresh guavas from the garden
- Spending time with my daughter

How was your Saturday?  Have you started thinking about holiday gifts?

  1. I hope the store near you doesn't close, too. You find too many great bargains including your new blouse.

    1. I, too, hope they don't close, Live and Learn. :) It was just this one store for the longest time, then, they opened branches all over the place and, I think, they didn't have the volume of sales they needed to support so many stores. It's not just clothes, they have household stuff, as well. In fact, I might go back to visit that section, before the holidays, to find some gifts. :)

  2. My daughter came on Friday evening and stayed over for the night. It's lovely to have our girls with us, isn't it?

  5. What fun to go shopping with your daughter and I think your new blouse is gorgeous and I'm sure you will turn to it again and again.
I did buy one Christmas present just over a week ago, but didn't buy any on my trip. It is certainly time to get started and I have a couple of ideas for DH.

    1. It is more fun to shop with her than by myself, partly because I can ask her opinion about how things look on me. I wore my new blouse today and I really like it. I have another one in a similar style (same manufacturer) which has been a favorite; this new one is going to be a favorite, too, I think! :)

One good thing about starting holiday shopping early is one doesn't feel rushed. There have been years when I shopped on Christmas Eve, but, that was OK, too, because I went to one store and got all my shopping done!

  6. I love the blouse you got! That is a style that I also wear often because I find it very flattering.
