Rain on Wednesday

Rain!

The weather forecast was right!  It rained this morning!  I'm glad I held off on watering the back yard, after all!  Sometimes, procrastination works!  LOL.

Yay!  Rain!

The afternoon was sunny and warm, however, so that was nice.  I was able to open the windows and air out the house during the afternoon.  The evenings are cold, however, and I layered up.  I was already wearing sweatpants, socks, a blouse and my grey wool sweater; I put on a wool cardigan and wrapped a scarf around my neck.  But, even so, my hands were cold!  I have the heater on, now, and I am seated in front of it, with Dancer sleeping on his towel on the piano bench!

I made pancakes and bacon for brunch, today.  I had an early dinner (around 5:00 p.m.) of salad with tuna.  I ate a banana for dessert, a bit later, and snacked on pineapple guavas.  I picked up a whole bowlful of guavas, this afternoon, as they had fallen after the rain.

I watched today's House hearings, knitted (finished the back of the sweater and started on the front), and cleaned the kitchen.  I also went through two crafts books and decluttered them.

Today, I am grateful for:
- The rain for the garden
- Sunshine in the afternoon
- Fresh guavas
- A working heater
- Being warm

Today's joyful activity was knitting.

Plans for tomorrow include a trip to the fabric store!

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. It's a cold wet day here today (Thursday). I had to abandon the walk this morning after about 15 minutes because my knee was so painful so am currently sitting down with an ice pack on it. I'm meeting a friend this afternoon but she may have to come here now as I want to keep the weight off my leg for as long as possible.

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your knee, Eileen. Good idea to rest it and, hopefully, it will be better, soon. If not, maybe you need to have it checked by a doctor. You might need to wear a knee brace for a bit of added support when you go walking, next.

  2. I have cold hands reading this. It's turned very chilly here now and we were into minus figures at the beginning of the week. X

    1. Brr, that sounds very cold to me, Jules. It rarely dips below 40F, at night, where I live and daytime highs rarely go below 50F, but, I feel cold even when it is in the 60s!

  3. Glad you got some rain. I know that is a special, welcome occurrence for you. If these hearings go on for very long it's hard to tell how many sewing and knitting projects you'll get done. :)

    1. I am always glad to get some rain. We are now in our official rainy season, which started in October, and this is the first real rain shower we've had. More rain is in the forecast for next week, as well.

LOL, I think today's hearings are the end. Which is probably good timing, since my daughter will come home for Thanksgiving tomorrow night and I'll want to do things with her. :)

  5. It’s cold here too, but not rainy.
Sounds like you had a relaxing day.

Are those lemons in the second photo, next to chrysanthemums? 😊

    1. I remember it used to get quite chilly in winter, when we were in Jacksonville. Hope you are able to keep warm - do you have a heater?

Yes, those are lemons. I have 3 lemon trees growing in a row on the side of the garage. This year, the lemons are the size of large limes, because they didn't get a lot of water when they formed!

    2. Yes, Bless. I like to use a small heater in the bedroom, without turning on central heating.
The lemon trees looks so pretty, with all the lemons. 😊

    3. Good; glad to hear you use a small heater. The lemon trees do look pretty with the fruit, don't they? The lemons are just starting to ripen, so, not a lot of juice, but, I am using them, anyway!

  6. OMG, if those hearing go on much longer, you will have a whole closet of knitted things. LOL. You still have some nice flowers there. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. LOL, Susie; I took a break from knitting, today, and did something else, instead (I'll post about it, in a bit). Thank you, those mums brighten up the whole yard!

    1. Oh, I wish I could share some of the rain with you! I have been hearing about the fires in Australia (I have some cousins there) and seeing news coverage of it.

Ooh, interview clothes! How exciting! Hope you find just the ones you are hoping to get and the interview turns out to be successful!

Thank you; hope you have a good day, too. :)

  8. Necks really do get cold, don't they? Even when I'm otherwise warm, I often have a scarf on. Pancakes sound yummy, but I've never tasted guava.

    1. I always seem to feel warmer when my neck is covered. Some people love guava, but, others don't; a lot of people don't like the aroma of ripe guavas.

  9. How lovely to see some real rain on your garden! I guess you find, as I do, that when the weather is damp, it feels colder. We are getting some rain right now, which may wash the snow away. Tomorrow the forecast is for a mixture of snow and rain - obviously the weather is trying to make its mind up! (or the weatherman?)

    1. One of my former colleagues had posted that it hailed in downtown, yesterday! She said they were all looking out of the windows and watching the hail fall! Ha, ha, we are so easily amused, aren't we?! :D More rain is in the forecast for us for next week - that's going to make it a wet Thanksgiving.

Which form of precipitation do you prefer? Snow or rain?

    2. Snow is pretty but like rain, it falls everywhere. If only it would stick to the ski trails and mountains and leave the roads, driveways, paths and roofs clear! 😀

    3. LOL, that is true and then, it melts and makes a mess, again! But, it looks so pretty, doesn't it?
