I woke up with a stiff neck/right shoulder. I must have slept at an awkward angle. I applied some Tiger Balm and my new neck/shoulder warmer to relax the stiffness. My neck still feels stiff, but, it is better, now. However, I made that an excuse to take it easy, today.
I had a banana for breakfast. For lunch, I cooked rice, dhal, sauteed/curried cabbage, and a ground beef curry (keema), and made a cucumber salad to go with it:

I spent a relaxed afternoon, pampering my stiff shoulder. Cousin P called and I chatted with her for a bit.
Then, after tea, I watered the garden - I hand watered the front and turned on the sprinklers at the back. I also scrubbed my toilet and finished cleaning my bathroom (I didn't mop the floor; that can wait until the next time). I also went through another file folder of papers while I watched some TV. I didn't clean the kitchen, however, and I didn't do any laundry or a craft project (just didn't feel like it).
I had leftovers from lunch for dinner. There's more for tomorrow, as well. Later, I video chatted with my daughter.
Today, I am grateful for:
- A sunny day
- My new neck/shoulder warmer
- A good lunch (and dinner, too)
- Video chatting with my daughter
- Fresh lemonade made with lemons from my tree

Sorry about your stiffness. I seem to need to use biofreeze on more than an occasional morning now. Who ever knew getting this age meant sleep induced injuries? I was not prepared for it.
ReplyDeleteI know doctors get dropped by insurance companies sometimes, and sometimes docs drop insurance companies for lack of reimbursement ( or super delayed reimbursement). I am waiting for the day when we have interstate medical insurance instead of intrastate companies. Competition would make it better for everyone.
Thank you, Anne. I am wondering if the stiffness is due to all my pulling and pushing of furniture the other day, in addition to perhaps sleeping at an awkward angle. The stiffness is still there, this morning.
DeleteYes, the doctor dropped the insurance company, or, rather, the IPA associated with the insurance company, probably due to problems with reimbursement. They wanted to switch me over to the IPA they are using now, but that would have messed up my cancer specialists and I was not willing to do that!
You must have so much patience to deal with your health insurance confusions. I don't know how you manage to stay calm, although I expect getting angry wouldn't help. I do hope your new office will be better for you.
ReplyDeleteI could do wih some tiger balm myself, as I have exactly the same problem as you today. Mine, however, was caused by playing bowling on the wii with Lily! X
Honestly, at times, I don't know whether to laugh or cry, when it comes to dealing with doctors' offices and insurance. When it works, it works wonderfully, but when it doesn't, then, it becomes rather annoying.
DeleteOh, no! I hope your shoulder feels better, soon! But, I'm sure you and Lily had fun. :)
Sauteed/curried cabbage sounds good. Is it as simple as adding spices to chopped cabbage and letting it cook through or do you need to add a curried sauce?
ReplyDeleteIt is as simple as adding a little oil to a pan, adding the cabbage and curry powder, salt, etc. It is my favorite way of eating cabbage (other than coleslaw). I had posted my directions to make it a long time ago - I've included the link:

Thank you xx
DeleteYou are welcome. :)
DeleteThat must have been a frustrating call from the doctor's office. I hope that your new doctor will be better, but maybe that's just the nature of the business since insurance is such an important part of it. I am so happy to have medical insurance, but I sure have had spent some difficult times trying to get different issues solved.
ReplyDeleteI was just shaking my head in disbelief while I was on the phone with them. Obviously, the poor appointment desk person didn't know what had happened, but, one would think that staff would have been notified that people with this particular insurance will no longer be seen by the doctor. But, as you say, I, too, am glad I have insurance, even with all the flaws. My treatments would have been very costly if I didn't have insurance.
DeleteIt can be frustrating when that sort of thing happens at the doctor's office. I bet moving the furniture is what hurt your shoulder. Mine was sore for a week after lugging my backpack through the airports. Icing helped, as did Tiger Balm. I hope yours is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it was the furniture moving that did it. It was still painful this morning and I took a Tylenol for it. It's much better, tonight, but, I might try icing it, tomorrow.
