May Decluttering

My decluttering goal for May was 31 items decluttered (put aside for donation, recycled, or tossed).  Items I routinely recycle like junk mail and empty cans or bottles didn't count, but, if I got rid of paper that had been filed or a box or jar that had been used for storage, then, I included it in my count.

In May, I decluttered:

2 books

Craft book

Story book

1 sewing machine

Sewing machine
1 binder organizer

Binder organizer

1 message board

Message board

1 bag of plastic Easter eggs:

Easter eggs
14 magazines
15 annual reports/brochures
1 calendar
1 long skirt
1 bed frill/skirt
10 file folders of papers (6 years worth of utility bills; 4 years worth of bank statements)
3 glass jars
1 food storage container
2 notebooks
1 empty box
1 plastic container
1 cat toy/laser
3 bottles of expired medications

60 items, total.  Yay!  I met my goal and made up for not meeting my April decluttering goal!  LOL.  A lot of it was paper clutter and small items, but, that's OK.

In June, my decluttering goal is 30 books!  One for each day of the month.  I know some of you are planning to join me!

Did you have a decluttering goal in May?  If so, how did you do?  Did you meet your goal?

    1. I will be giving away what I didn't recycle or toss, Akasha. I've about 3 bags full of stuff to be donated. I am waiting until I have about 6 bags before I call for a donations pick up.

  4. Well done. I find half my battle is not just the sorting, but actually putting the items into a bag and taking it to the charity shop. Although I'm pleased to say I took three bags this week! X

    1. You did well to take three bags to the charity shop this week, Jules! I haven't taken anything to the donation center, yet. What I do is gather several bags and then, call for a pick up.

  5. Congrats on making your goal. I should adopt a de-cluttering quota system around here at least for the summer; my closets seem endlessly packed with stuff I just don't use anymore. But I will stall on de-cluttering books as long as I possibly can.

    1. Thank you, Susanne. Some people find it easy to sort through their stuff and declutter; I find it hard. Setting myself a quota seems to make it easier. I will probably challenge myself to do a non-book declutter, in July. Maybe you can join me, then. You don't have to declutter a single book, unless you want to! I promise! :)
