I woke up to the sound of rain and the phone ringing, this morning. It was the gastroenterologist's office calling to confirm Monday's appointment. After that, the alarm went off and daughter texted her usual good morning. It was 9:00 a.m.
I followed my usual morning routine of feeding the cats, having a cup of tea, checking my emails, replying to blog comments, reading and commenting on a few other blogs, etc. I enjoy this relaxed start to my days. The rain ceased by 10:00 a.m. and we had a partly cloudy, partly sunny day. The rain was a blessing because it meant I didn't have to water the garden, today.
In the afternoon, I washed some dishes, mopped the kitchen floor, and vacuumed the rest of the house. I also did a load of laundry, watered the indoor plants, and did a little paperwork.
The insurance company had sent me my new card, except, it had the name of the doctor they had assigned to me, not the new doctor I had changed to (I guess they mailed out the card before I had made the change). The letter that accompanied the card said to destroy the old card, but, as far as I know, the change was not effective until June 1. I hope this is not going to create a problem at the gastroenterologist's office on Monday! I think another phone call to the insurance company, tomorrow, is in order! Otherwise, I might need to call the gastroenterologist's office and reschedule the appointment! Sigh. I need to stop anticipating problems!
There was another letter from the medical IPA, reminding me that I should have certain wellness checks done and to discuss it with my primary care physician! Yes, well, hard to do that when the doctor's office cancelled my existing appointment because he's left their system and I am trying to find a new doctor and the change isn't going to be effective till next month! LOL! First, let me find a new doctor and get that change reflected in my insurance card!
The mail also brought an invitation from one of my former supervisors to attend his annual chili cookoff, in June! Something I look forward to attending!
I couldn't settle down to do anything productive after I finished today's housework. Instead, I finished reading my library book:
Library Book |
The book is about Irena Sendler and the efforts to save Jewish children in Poland during World War II. I found it an interesting read.
Later, I watched news and a TV program (American Experience: The Great War on Public TV).
Breakfast had been two pancakes with spicy onion relish (seeni sambol). Lunch was a salad and a banana. I had some cheese and crackers in my tea in the evening. Dinner was the last of the chicken drumsticks I had baked with plum sauce, along with some corn and sauteed zucchini. A piece of the chocolate cheesecake for dessert.
Today, I am grateful for:
- The rain to water the garden
- The sunshine, afterwards
- The invitation that arrived in the mail, today
- What I was able to achieve in terms of housework
- Library books and interesting programs to watch on TV
Thursday's To Do List:
- Finish the vacuuming - DONE
- Water the indoor plants - DONE
- Paperwork/filing - DID SOME
- Tidy the kitchen, a bit - DONE (mopped the floor, washed the kitchen rug)
Friday's To Do List:
- Call the insurance company again
- More paperwork/filing
- More paperwork/filing
- Do one decluttering/organizing task in the spare room
- Do one deep cleaning task
How was your Thursday? What are your plans for Friday?
All this hassle with your medical insurance ... you have my sympathy. I’d hate to have to change my doctor for that reason but can understand that you have little choice. Here, we have to live within the surgery’s catchment area to be able to register as a patient so a major consideration when I bought this house 6 years ago was that it was still in the catchment for my doctor, meaning I didn’t have to change.
ReplyDeleteYou are continuing to do well with your daily to do lists so give yourself a pat on the back! And you were up early today so I hope you don’t run out of steam as the day progresses xx
I suppose the easier thing to have done would have been to go with the doctor they assigned me to, which is what I've done up till now, but that doctor is clear across the city from me, and I was trying to get a doctor who is closer. Once the changes have been made, it should be OK, but, until then, things are a bit of a mess.
DeleteThank you. There are days when I still struggle with the lists, but, for the most part, I'm getting through them. :)
Unfortunately, your past experience tells you to anticipate problems in the doctor's appointments and insurance world. I think a call to the insurance company is in order. Good luck with it all.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, my past experiences have taught me to anticipate problems! I'm sure I don't want to receive a bill for full payment of the cost of the doctor's visit because I was between PCPs!
DeleteItems just recently passed away, didn’t she? I remember her story being shared in social media
ReplyDeleteIrena Sendler passed away in 2008, at age 98. I read that 2018 was declared Irena Sendler Year, in Poland.
DeleteHi Bless, Yes, the rain was so nice. I didn't have to water, either. It makes everything so green, and the sky so clear.
ReplyDeleteThey are forecasting more rain on Sunday. We won't have to water the gardens for a few more days if we do get rain. :)
DeleteSorry that there's more hassle with the insurance company!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's mid-May. Why is it that Spring and Summer seem to go really fast and Winter drags on? Hope you have a good weekend
Thanks, Sharon. I called the insurance company, today, and think the situation is resolved; I should be receiving a new card, in the next couple of weeks.
DeleteI don't know, but, it seems that the days are just whizzing by! I hope you, too, have a lovely weekend. :)
You did well to be up and about around 9 am. You certainly need time for a relaxed start to the day when you have all these doctor issues to figure out. I hope everything works out satisfactorily.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I had a good visit with my friend who lives down a lane near to me. Today I had a much needed haircut. It always seems to me to be just reasonable looking and then two days later it is obvious that it is in desperate shape and I make the phone call to the hairdresser. So nice to get it all trimmed - it probably needed it much sooner than I realized!
Thanks, Bushlady. I called the insurance company, today, and I think everything is in order. At least, it will be once it is June and I get my new card.
DeleteGlad you got to visit with your friend, yesterday, and had your hair trimmed, today. One good thing about growing having long hair is not having to worry about regular trims! Not that my hair is long, yet, but, it is growing! It's what I consider to be shoulder length now, maybe just a bit longer. I am grateful that it has grown back. :)
