Saturday's Highlights

Fabric Store Purchase

On Saturday, I drove to the fabric store to buy grey thread.  I took a small piece of the fabric with me and this was the closest shade of grey I could find to match it.

While I was at the store, I spent a little time walking around and looking at things..  I liked this sign they had in their yarn section:

Sign Above the Yarn Bins
They had broadcloth on sale for $1.99 per yard and I was very tempted to buy some.  They also had some 100% cotton fabric on clearance that had a very pretty floral design in blue and purple that I liked.  But, I managed to resist the temptation to buy any new fabric!  Instead, I purchased only the reel of thread I had gone for.

However, at the check out counter, the cashier pointed to a bin of notions beside him and said that I could pick any item in there for free!  I took a quick look and chose this packet of ruched elastic:

Freebie!
I am not sure what I'll use it for, but, it was free!  I'm sure I'll find some use for it!  If not, I'll put it in the donations bag.

Lunch was another salad:

Dinner was a steak sandwich.

In the late afternoon, I watched a movie on TV, "A Passage to India".  It was made in the 1980s, I believe, but this is the first time I've seen it.  I enjoyed watching it.

I took the quilt out to sew on it, but someone else laid claim to it:

"Mummy is making another quilt"
"And I am helping!"

It's been drizzling on and off, all evening.  I won't have to water the garden for another couple of days!

Today, I am grateful for:
- A relaxed day
- The rain we are getting
- A visit to the fabric store (even if I didn't buy any fabric!)
- A good movie on TV
- Chatting with my daughter

I don't have any firm plans for Sunday.  The forecast calls for rain.  I will probably stay home and sew.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of the Ibotta rebates app, but if you download it and sign up, it almost always offers 15% off your whole order from Joann’s

    1. Thank you, Akasha. I've heard of it on other blogs, but I haven't used it. I don't like using all these apps and providing information about my activities and whereabouts to data companies.

  2. Dancer should be a skilled quilt maker by now since he has helped with every quilt you have made. :)

    1. Ha, ha, one of these days, we might find him making a quilt of it own!

  3. I love the shade of the elastic, no matter what you will use it for.
Dancer certainly likes his comfort, although I think most cats do. I woke up this morning to discover Lily tucked in next to me and Mog on the other side of her! X

    1. Aw, I miss the days of waking up to find my daughter next to me! Dancer will usually come to see if I am up and stay by my side until I do wake up.

I chose that elastic for its color! I like purple in all its shades. :)

  4. You did well to come away without buying any new fabric, but how nice to get a little "freebie". Dancer looks contented. I don't think he could bear to live with anyone who doesn't work with fabric!
It's pouring with rain right now this evening. We get little glimpses of sun each day and then gloom and sometimes rain. The black flies love the overcast times. I got my first bite today! Meanwhile the birds are in hungry mode and seem to be emptying the seed feeders at an alarming rate. I'm wondering too if it is time to put out the hummingbird feeder.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I took another look at my stash of fabric, today, and I am very glad I didn't buy any more on Saturday!

Sounds like you are having a very wet spring! Hope it doesn't cause the river to rise again and flood! I suppose the birds find it hard to find food with all the rain, or they've babies to feed back at the nest! I think it might be time for the hummingbird feeder, too!

  5. That is a beautiful salad. I worked on an Etsy order and did some blogging. I need to rest tomorrow. I always forget to take a day off.

  6. Well done for resisting the temptation to buy more fabric ... give yourself another pat on the back. You are so lucky that Dancer is always so willing to help with your quilting!

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Yes, I'm glad I didn't buy more fabric - I sorted through my fabric stash, yesterday, and I'm afraid all the drawers are full! Yes, I'm lucky to have such a helpful kitty, am I not?
