Memorial Day Monday

A sunny day after yesterday's rain and grey clouds.  I slept fairly well.  I woke up once, when I heard my cell phone ring - the GI doctor's office usually calls me on my cell phone.  It took me a minute to realize that today was a holiday and they wouldn't be calling me on a holiday.  I didn't recognize the number, it was from a different area code, and I didn't answer.  Whoever it was  left a voicemail message and when I played it back, it was in Tagalog, I believe.  I made out, "hello", "holiday" and "goodbye".  I went back to sleep and woke up for the second time when the phone rang.  It was cousin P, calling to thank me for the coupons to a department store I gave her, yesterday; she said she and her daughter went shopping and bought some shoes and other items, using the coupons.  By then, it was mid-morning and time to get up.

I spent the rest of the morning having a cup of tea, replying to blog comments, commenting on a few other blogs, myself, and easing into the day!

I had leftover spaghetti for brunch.  Then, I changed my bed sheets (Mr. Dancer immediately settled himself down for a nap on the freshly made bed!) and did a load of laundry.  Since it is a nice, sunny day, I felt guilty about putting the load to dry in the dryer!  Instead, I hung it up to dry, inside the house, as I used to do.

Then, I boxed up several years worth of tax files to store in the garage.  Yes, I know, we are only required to keep 7 years worth of documents, but, I like to keep things like bank statements and tax files for a longer period of time.  I just don't need to keep them all in my desk drawer!

Later in the evening, I did the dishes and ran the dishwasher, took the big trash cans to the curb, collected more flower seeds and scattered them in the side yard, and cleaned the refrigerator.

Had some of the yellow rice and chicken curry I brought home from the prayer gathering, yesterday, for dinner.  Fresh strawberries for dessert.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A sunny day
- Being able to sleep in
- Waking up well and alive
- Working appliances - washing machine, dishwasher, etc.
- All what I was able to accomplish

Monday's To Do List:
- Do the dishes/run the dishwasher - DONE
- Change my bedsheets - DONE
- Do a load of laundry - DONE
- Dust the living room & dining area
- Clean the fridge - DONE
- Take the trash cans to the curb - DONE
- 30 minutes of file clearing - DONE
- One craft project

I did most of my to do list, today.  I didn't dust the living room and dining area, however, because I sort of ran out of steam!  I also didn't do a craft project, because I didn't feel like it; I read another chapter in my book, instead.  My joyful activity for the day was clearing up more space in my desk drawers by boxing up the files and reading.

Tuesday's To Do List:
- Dust - living room, dining area, family room, my bedroom.
- Errands: grocery shopping
- Water the house plants
- More paperwork/file clearing

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for tomorrow?

  1. We need to move some files to long term storage, aka the basement, because our current drawer is getting too full. It's on the list with a hundred other things. Some day it will make it to the top. You just keep cleaning your guest room to inspire me. :)

    1. Ah, yes, that mile-long list! I have one, too, if you recall. Mine has a lot of repair jobs on it, but I need to hire someone to do them and I haven't done that, yet. The garage is a mess and so is the shed and both are on my list of things to do! I'm concentrating on the spare room and files for now, though.

  2. You are so grounded. I am always impressed at how often you clean your refrigerator. I really admire your self discipline. I am going to clean my bathroom now...

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. I try to do a quick clean of the fridge, once a week (usually on a Monday so I can toss anything that needs to be tossed as the trash gets picked up on Tuesdays), but I don't always pull everything out, etc., to do so. I take a damp sponge cloth and wipe the shelves and check if there is anything that needs to be tossed. About once a month, or so, I wipe out the drawers and put new paper towels down to line them. The door shelves are due for a cleaning, too, and I'll try to do them next week. I'm sure your bathroom is sparkling now! :)
