Thursday

Rose Bud (Picture taken earlier)

I woke up feeling cold, this morning, and thought I shouldn't be feeling so cold when it was a sunny day with the forecast saying the high will be 80F.  It did, eventually, warm up to 80F in the afternoon, but, the house registered at 65F/18 C when I woke up!  No wonder I felt cold!  I went outside to sit in the sunshine to say my morning prayers, but, mosquitos started to bite me, so I had to come inside, again!

I finished sorting through my closet, today, tidying up the items I store on the floor of the closet.  One side of the closet has three suitcases storing various items including Christmas blankets and table cloths that I don't want to store in the garage, some of my special occasion saris, and some of my daughter's baby clothes that I saved (almost all of them are handmade items).  I didn't pull them out to sort through them, this time.  Instead, I focused on the items I store on the  floor on other side - I pulled everything out, swept the floor, sorted through the stuff, and put everything back, but, in a tidier manner.

I wore one of the blouses my cousin had given me.  It has long sleeves (which I like), a mock turtle neck (I like that, too) and the fabric is a fairly thick double knit, which is nice and warm (again, something I like).  However, the print is a black and white cheetah print and there is a black and white fringe down the sides of the sleeves which reminds me a bit of a zebra's mane!  LOL.  It's not something I might have bought for myself (I'm not really into animal prints) but, I do like the cut and the warmth of the blouse.  I guess I'll keep it for now; it's something I could wear under my black sweater or with a cardigan, in the winter.

Later, I sorted through the "tupperware" type food storage containers I keep in the kitchen.  I store the majority of them in a plastic basket I keep on one of the cabinet shelves.  I matched the lids to them, but, I store them nested, with the lids tucked on a side of the basket.  When I need a container, I just pull the basket out, take the container I need, and put everything back in the cabinet.  I didn't declutter any of the containers even though I have an abundance of them, because I will need them to send food back with my daughter after she comes down for the holidays and she can just recycle them at her end.  That was another of those tasks I had been intending to do but hadn't got around to doing.

Plans for tomorrow include tidying the kitchen counters.

Today, I am grateful for:

- The sunny day and the warm afternoon
- Warm clothes for when I'm feeling cold
- Getting the closet organized
- Emails from friends
- Being able to video chat with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was spending some time in the garden, mosquitoes not withstanding!

How was your Thursday?  What are your plans for Friday?

  1. I sorted my tupperware the other week, and discarded a spare lid from my good quality set . Then the day AFTER the rubbish bins were collected, I found the bottom of the box. Grrr!!

    1. Oh, no! Don't you hate it when that happens? I did something similar, myself, the last time I sorted through the containers. I found a lid without a matching container and so, I tossed it. Then, a few months later, my daughter brought back the container! I had completely forgotten that I had put some pastries in the container and sent it up with her! I hadn't used the lid because I didn't want to crush the pastries! So, now, I have the container, without a lid! I use it to hold some condiments and things in one of the cabinets.

  2. That's a beautiful rose bud and a lovely colour. What a shame you weren't able to sit outside in the warmth of the sun for those pesky mosquitoes. Well done on sorting your closet. You're right that you can wear blouses you're not too fond of underneath a jumper or cardigan, I'm not fond of animal prints myself.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Yes, we seem to be having a lot of mosquitoes, this year; probably due to all the rain we had, earlier in the year. Sorting through the closet was quite overdue! I am glad I crossed that off my list. I will keep this particular blouse for now because it is warm. I usually end up wearing 3 or 4 layers, anyway, so it wouldn't matter what the patterns look like!

  3. Tupperware type containers are the bane of my life. I try to keep them stacked, with the lids nearby. Mr FD tosses them into the cupboard every which way, with the lids randomly placed. So I get out a box for whatever I need...and can't find the lid. Every month or so, it gets to me, so everything comes out, is matched up & replaced. Mr FD is reminded of the system - and off we go again. Hey ho.

    1. It's always a job to look for the matching lid, isn't it? At one time, I numbered the containers and the matching lid - box 1/lid 1, box 2/lid 2, and so forth. That worked for some time. :) I don't have anyone else to blame when my things get messy, although I've been known to blame Dancer from time to time! LOL!

  4. There's nothing prettier than a rose bud. Leopard print and fringe down the sleeves. That's some blouse! Glad it kept you warm. :)

    1. Yes, I felt quite wild wearing that blouse! LOL! But, it fitted well and kept me warm, so, I'll be keeping it, at least for this winter.

  5. What a pity about the mosquitos driving you back into the house. We haven't had so many this year and now it is probably too cold for them to hang around, which is why the fly catchers are heading south soon.

    1. It seems that we have a lot of mosquitoes, this year! Probably because we had a lot of rain, earlier in the year. I wasn't very happy about getting stung and having to go indoors!

  6. That is wise of you to keep your storage spaces tidy. I need to do the same thing with my cupboards today.

    1. Keeping my storage spaces tidy and organized is a constant battle for me! I just need to make it a point to go through cupboards and things on a regular basis.

  7. That's a nice bright pink rose.
Good job doing the closet area that you wanted to tend to and also the storage containers. Yes, you will surely need some extras for all the food you will send back with your daughter.

  8. That rose is such a lovely color. If the shirt is comfortable and warm for around the house, that's what matters most! Tho maybe you could cut the fringe off?

    1. I do love the color of that rose, Celie. I debated cutting the fringe on the blouse, but, I'm not sure how it would look, afterwards. I took a picture of it, today, and will post it in a bit. :)
