Sunny and Warm on Thursday

Thursday's Harvest

Today's harvest consisted of eight green Serrano chilies, four cherry tomatoes, and a handful of green beans (one Italian flat bean and the rest were French round beans).  I nearly fell in the garden after picking the last of the green beans because the ground was a bit uneven, but, I managed to grab hold of a flower pot and regained my balance!  I'm very thankful that I didn't fall!

Last night, I made the stir fried noodles I had planned to make for at least a week - angel hair pasta, sliced Italian sausages I had cooked and frozen earlier, a grated carrot, some shredded lettuce, a handful of frozen green peas, and a sprinkling of green onions:

Stir Fried "Noodles"

I called neighbor S and left her a message on her voicemail to ask if she'd like to have some of the noodles dish.  She called me back, later, on her way home from church, and said she'd like to have some of the noodles.  She pulled into my driveway and I handed her a container with a portion of the noodles.  I was happy that I was able to share some of my food with her, since she's always giving me food!

Then, this evening, she returned the favor and brought me two cheese filled puff pastries she had made earlier in the day:

Cheese Pastries

I thanked her with the few cherry tomatoes I had picked from the garden, today!  She said she was going to eat them right away!  LOL.

Speaking of food and sharing, this was the scene outside my sliding glass door around 4:30 p.m. this evening:

Waiting for Tea

"Who invited you?"

"Well!  If that's how you are going to be!"

These two make me laugh!  Don't worry; they were both given to eat and the chicken showed its appreciation by leaving a huge dropping on the steps for M to clean, tomorrow!

This is my week to focus on cleaning my bedroom.  I dusted the furniture, washed the bed sheets and remade the bed, earlier.  Today, I vacuumed the room.  Tomorrow, I plan to sort through my closet.  I am also thinking of a new window covering; the eyelet curtains I have in place now are good for the summer, but, I think I need something a little thicker and warmer for the winter.  I will see what I have before I order any new curtains.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Another warm, sunny day
- Today's garden harvest
- Not falling in the garden!
- Phone chats with cousins
- Exchanging food with neighbor S

Today's joyful activity was picking vegetables from the garden and sharing the cherry tomatoes with neighbor S.

How was your Thursday?

  1. I do like how you and your neighbour share food and your noodles and the cheese pastries look delicious. Do be careful that you don't fall in your garden, I hope you carry your phone so you can summon help if you ever need to. I love how Mama Cat and Chicken Little are comfortable in each others company :)

    1. I like it, too, Eileen, although I feel there's more coming my way than going out to S!
Yes, I do carry my cell phone with me whenever I go outside. I do need to be careful, especially when I'm in the back yard, because no one can see me if I fall down there and hurt myself.
Every now and then, Mama Cat looks at Chicken Little as if she's wondering what this chicken is doing in her yard, but, for the most part, she tolerates it. The chicken just totally ignores the cat! LOL.

  2. Nothing like a house guest who leaves a little surprise on the steps!
So glad you did not fall
It was lovely of you to think of your neighbor by sharing the noodles, and the surprise return shared gift looks delicious too!

    1. Thank you, Anne; I'm glad, too, that I didn't fall!
Someone ought to teach that chicken some manners! An egg would have been appreciated, if it needed to leave a thank you gift!
I was glad that I had cooked something I could share with S and didn't expect her to bring me pastries in return! :)

  3. We have fairly heavy, lined bedroom curtains all year round, which black out all the light. Essential as our room is on the ground floor and we get a lot of traffic outside our window (chattering pedestrians and vehicles turning at the end of the close) I am grateful for them - they contribute to the peace and pleasant atmosphere.
I hope you have a good weekend 🙏❤️😊

    1. Your curtains sound great, Angela. I actually don't mind some light coming in (I sleep with a night light because I don't like a dark bedroom), but, I think thicker drapes will be warmer in the winter. I might need to get a new drapery rod fixed in place, first, though.
Thank you, Angela; hope you and Bob have a good weekend, too. :)

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; I, too, am glad I didn't fall! The noodles turned out well (I used hot Italian sausages and the dish was a little spicy) and S's pastries are always delicious. The cat and the chicken - reminds me a little of the poem, The Owl and the Pussycat! LOL.

  6. Your noodles look very good - I'm sure neighbor S really enjoyed them.
    And the pastries! Yum :)
That is a funny picture of Momma cat and the chicken.
Your bedroom is getting a real cleaning. It feels good to clean a room really well like that doesn't it? I will read on and see if you changed your curtains for the colder months.
I'm glad you were able to keep from falling!

    1. Thank you, Debra; I think the noodles turned out well. The pastries were delicious.
I haven't changed the bedroom curtains, yet. I need to find something that will fit on the rather flimsy curtain rods that I have there as I'm not ready to replace the rods.
