On Monday

Harlequin Sparaxis

The Harlequin Sparaxis bulbs that M planted in the bulbery are flowering!

On Monday, I drove my daughter to her physical therapy appointment.  She had an hour-long session and received some new foot exercises to do at home and a follow-up appointment at the beginning of April.

On the way home, I stopped to put gas to the car as I had less than a quarter tank of gas.  Gas at the cheapest gas station in the neighborhood was $4.50 per gallon for unleaded, if paying cash.  I put $50 worth of gas (the full amount I budget for gas each month) to the car and filled the tank.

After we came home, I did two loads of laundry, took the trash cans to the curb for pick up on Tuesday morning, watched the evening news, and did a few daily chores.

We had leftovers from Sunday's birthday meal for both lunch and dinner.

On Monday, I was grateful for:

- The availability of physical therapy for my daughter
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Free parking at the clinic
- Gas for the car
- Working appliances and electricity to run them.

Monday's joyful activities included chatting on the phone with friend R and neighbor S and texting with one of my cousins.

Plans for Tuesday include tidying up the house a bit , catching up on some blog reading, and maybe a visit from friend R.

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

  1. It is Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day, so most of the morning will be spent getting ready for the Pancake Party

    1. I hope the Pancake Party was well attended and Bob's pancake making skills were duly appreciated. :) I made some pancakes, too.

  2. Belated birthday wishes to your daughter - what yummy & pretty birthday desserts. That Harlequin Sparaxis has such a pretty flower, what a gift. Tuesday plans could involve the church, pre-Lent, Pancake Tuesday dinner, provided the freezing rain has stopped :)

    1. Thank you for the birthday wishes to my daughter, Mary-Lou.
The Harlequin Sparaxis is very pretty, isn't it?
I hope the freezing rain stopped and you were able to attend the church Pancake Tuesday dinner. Hope you are both doing well and the kitties, too.

  3. The Harlequin Sparaxis is very pretty, so I looked it up to see if it would grow here. Unfortunately, it's only good in frost free areas. Oh, well. I just enjoy your pictures. :)

    1. Could you grow them in a container that you might be able to take indoors during the winter?

    2. I might be able to plant them in the spring and then did them up.

  4. What spectacular flowers! Did you know they would be like that when the Sparaxis bulbs were planted?

    1. They are gorgeous flowers, aren't they? I did know what they would look like when M planted these bulbs, because he planted one in the front garden a couple of years ago and it bloomed, last year. They came from a former neighbor's garden that M used to tend - she had a clump of them and had told M to take some and they grew well in his garden. Then, he shared some of the bulbs with me and now they are growing and flowering in my garden, too. :)

    1. Thank you, Anne. I do like how the flowers look.
Yes, my daughter is very thankful that I am able to take her to her appointments. She can't drive herself because it is her right foot that is injured. I suppose she could have taken a ride share if I was unable to drive her, though.

My daughter's foot was sore after her PT, but, we are hopeful that the PT will help.

    1. Yes; that tank of gas should last me at least all month, if not longer.
Thank you, Lyssa; I'm glad my daughter is getting the treatments. She is finally able to walk without her crutch, although still wearing her walking boot for most of the day.

  8. What a beautiful flower. I did not know of that flower. Reading more about it, I see it is a warm weather plant so it makes sense it's not something I see in my climate as it would not survive the winter. It's very pretty.
I'm glad your daughter had a good appointment with her therapist. Where did you wait? In your car reading your book or did you wait inside?

    1. It is a lovely, eye-catching flower, isn't it? M received the original bulbs from one of my former neighbors who has since passed away. He has them thriving in his garden and he shared some with me. You might be able to grow them in a container and then, move the container to a shed or garage to overwinter.
I waited in the waiting area for my daughter. I had my mask on and I felt comfortable waiting inside for her. :)
