March Grocery budget = $200

Spent to date = $51.70 + $47.92 + $31.71 = $131.33

Balance left in budget = $68.67

We tried the frozen dinners for a late lunch on Sunday.  They were okay for the price I paid for them, but, I will not be buying them again.

The salmon was a splurge item.  I cooked it for dinner and my daughter was very happy.

Eggs. by the way, are still $9.99/doz., even though I have seen articles saying that the wholesale price of eggs have decreased.  That decrease is not yet to be seen at the grocery store, however.

I can see that it will be a bit of a challenge to stay under budget for the rest of this month. as I foresee at least two additional shopping trips.  But, I think I am up to that challenge.  What do you think?

How are you doing with your grocery shopping so far this month?  I know some of you don't have a set budget, but, those of you who do have a budget, are you able to stay on budget?

  1. I saw that same article about the price of eggs going down, but it hasn't hit the stores here, either. Last time I looked, the price had gone up to around $8/doz.

    1. I suppose such price drops take time to show up in the grocery stores, because the eggs they are selling now were bought at higher wholesale prices. Maybe eggs will be cheaper by Easter.

    1. Thank you, Anne. I have gone over the budget in recent months, but, it evens out in the end for the most part. :)

  3. I have been finding tuna on special for CAD$1.50 a can and I have 4 cans in the pantry right now. No, Dancer, you cannot drop in, you wouldn't like the snow that is still on the ground!

    1. Aw, Dancer is sad that he can't drop in! I think canned tuna goes on sale around Lent. It's a good time to stock up on them.
