Crocosmia |
Thursday was another rainy day. We had light rain on and off all day. I went out into the garden to pick some fresh oranges when there was a lull in the rain and took a picture of these beautiful orange crocosmia, as well.

Brunch |
I made scrambled eggs and sausages on toasted bagels for brunch, along with cut up freshly picked oranges. Dinner was left over soup from daughter's birthday lunch.
It was a relatively cool day for us. I folded and put away laundry, did some paperwork, watched some videos and the news, read a few blogs, and did a few things around the house.
On Thursday, I was grateful for:
- More rain for the garden
- Fresh oranges from the garden
- A working heater
- Working appliances
- Garden flowers

Thursday's joyful activity was spending time with my daughter.
Friday is supposed to be sunny according to the weather forecast. Plans for Friday include tending to the garden with M.
How was your Wednesday? What are your plans for Thursday?
Oh how I envy your being able to pick fresh citrus! When we were in Palm Springs a few years ago the house we rented had several citrus trees. We were only able to pick lemons because they were the only thing that was bearing that week, but what a luxury it was!
ReplyDeleteIt is a joy to be able to pick my own lemons and oranges and I'm hopeful that the tangerine tree I bought last year will grow and produce fruit in the years to come.
DeleteI am still envious of your fresh oranges. We can get oranges in the grocery store, but they're not the same. One time, I was in an orange grove in FL and ate an orange right off the tree. The best orange I've every had.
ReplyDeleteFreshly picked oranges are the best as they don't ripen anymore once they are picked. I buy oranges during the rest of the year, but, my daughter says that our homegrown oranges are the best.
DeleteSuch beautiful flowers and how lovely to be able to just go out and pick oranges!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon; it is lovely to be able to pick fresh oranges from the backyard. There are a few more oranges left and then, no more until next winter.
DeleteOh my, that brunch looks so good! I have to restrain myself from raiding the fridge! I'll focus on the beautiful crocosmia instead.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. We enjoyed the brunch. :)
DeleteYour oranges will be far tastier than any I can buy over here. It's a long time since I've enjoyed an orange, freshly picked from the tree. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules; the oranges are tangy and sweet and my daughter loves them. Maybe you might be picking your own lemons this summer!
DeleteFresh oranges? I'm saying nothing!
ReplyDeleteYes, fresh oranges! Although we are coming to the end of the crop. There are a few left on the tree so if you can catch an early flight, you might still be in time to enjoy one. :)
DeleteWhat a lovely brunch - so nice in it's presentation.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of walking out your backdoor and picking fresh oranges presents such a nice image to me.
Thank you, Debra. I picked 5 more oranges this morning. This year's oranges are coming to an end. There are about half a dozen left on the tree, which is full of buds, right now.
DeleteThe brunch looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa; we enjoyed it. :)
