Atrium |
We were up early on Friday morning. I woke up at 5:00 a.m. (after going to bed at 1:30 a.m.) and daughter woke up at 5:30 a.m. We were on the road by 6:30 a.m. and got to the medical center just before 7:00 a.m. Daughter was required to be at the medical center by 7:15 a.m. to check in for her 7:30 a.m. appointment. We checked in at 7:00 a.m. and walked down a long hallway to get to the podiatry department. We passed by an atrium on our way to the podiatry department and on the way back, I took some pictures.
We only waited for about 10 minutes in the podiatry department waiting room before daughter was called in. I stayed in the waiting room and said my prayers while I waited for her. She was out in about 15 or 20 minutes and needed to go to the x-ray department to get her foot x-rayed. While she waited to be called in for that, I took pictures of the atrium.

Daughter said the podiatrist checked her foot and found that while the sprain is healing well, the pain she has been experiencing is due to Baxter's nerve impingement; apparently, it is a nerve between the muscles of the foot and the heel. He gave her a corticosteroid injection called kenalog in her heel as well as some foot exercises to do and a follow-up appointment in February. He also wants her to start walking without her crutches or the walking boot. So, today, she tried to walk with just one crutch and managed a few steps. And then, she did the foot exercises.
The Piano and Tables to Sit at in the Atrium |
On our way home from the medical center, I stopped at the CVS pharmacy to pick up another of my medication refills that was ready. As I told one of my friends, 8:00 a.m. on a Friday morning was the best time to go to the pharmacy as there was no one there waiting in line!
After we came home, daughter took a nap; in fact, she napped on and off all day as the injection in the medication made her feel tired.
I did two loads of laundry, made myself an egg salad sandwich for brunch, ordered and picked up groceries, wrote my 2024 grocery budget review post, tended to the garden with M, finished crocheting the blanket I was making (still need to weave in the ends of yarn), watched news, and, later, watched a video online with my daughter.
On Friday, I was grateful for:
- Daughter was seen by a podiatrist and received something to help her foot heal
- A safe drive to the medical center and back
- My medication refill was available and ready to be picked up
- Being able to order and pick up groceries without any issues
- M's help with the garden

Friday's joyful activity was crocheting.
Another Look at the Atrium |
Just how many pictures of the atrium did you take, Bless? Just four, I promise! Obviously, I liked it! LOL.
The atrium looks rather beautiful. It looks like it would be a relaxing and calm environment. .
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad your daughter's appointment went well. It sounds as though things are moving in the right direction, at least. Xx
Thank you, Jules. Yes, daughter started doing her exercises and tried walking with just one crutch, yesterday; she experienced some pain in her heel, later on, but, that had gone away by this morning. She's having a migraine, today, though, so, she might just take it easy, today.
DeleteI really liked the atrium; it did feel very relaxing to be in there. :)
Veramente splendido l' atrio di questo dottore
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stefania. I was able to understand almost all of what you wrote without translation assistance! :D
DeleteI can see why you took several pictures of the atrium. It's really a very pretty spot. (And maybe one of your photo challenges will have a prompt where you can use one of the shots)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your daughter saw another doctor and he diagnosed what may be going on with her foot. Did the needle into her heel hurt?
I hope since Friday it has relieved some of her pain.
I really liked that atrium! Eileen, who used to host the monthly photo challenges took a blogging break, but, she's back now and maybe she might do a photo challenge, one of these days. At least, I'm hoping she would. :)
DeleteDaughter said the doctor sprayed some numbing agent before he injected her, but, she could feel the injection!
She is still experiencing some pain (it comes and goes), but, she's doing the exercises the doctor told her to do. She's having a migraine today, though, so we shall see if she feels up to doing the exercises, today.
It must have been a relief for your daughter to have a specialist actually know what was going on with her ankle after such a long time!
ReplyDeleteThat atrium is really splendid, even having a grand piano!
It really was a relief to have a diagnosis, Bushlady. Now that she knows what's going on and has received the green light to proceed with putting more weight on her foot, she can do so. Earlier, she was afraid to do anything because she didn't want to further aggravate her foot.
DeleteI wondered if the piano was for anyone who wanted to play or if they had some special musical events held there.
It sounds like your daughter had a good appointment and got some helpful advice on how to proceed. I hope the shot and exercises help.
ReplyDeleteShe did, Celie. Thank you; the first day of exercises caused some pain in her foot, but, we are hoping that the pain will decrease as she continues to exercise her foot.
