Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt - 2024

Eileen is hosting the Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt (WPSH), which runs from January 1, 2024 to March 31, 2024.  It is time to post the first set of photos for the first link up!

These are the photos I've taken so far; the full list of prompts is at the end of the post.

3. Entwined - I took a couple of photos for this prompt of vines entwined around each other and other plants:

Asparagus Fern Entwined Around the Yucca Plant

Star Jasmine Vine Entwined Around Itself

But, ultimately, nothing says "entwined" more than the stems of my old rosemary bush, wouldn't you agree?

3. Entwined: Rosemary Stems

5. Bent wire - One of several pieces of bent wire on my chain link gate:

5. Bent Wire

12. Something living - Mama Cat; she's used up several of her nine lives, but, she's still alive and kicking!

12. Something Living: Mama Cat

13. A cloud formation - After several days of rain, we had a sunny day with puffy white clouds (and then, it started to rain, again!)

13. A Cloud Formation

14.  Grass(es):  Lemon grass growing in a pot and a clump of overgrown grass in the garden

14a: Lemon Grass

14b: A Clump of Overgrown Grass

16. A red car or truck - A red car, conveniently parked in the neighborhood

16. A Red Car

18. A plate or bowl of potatoes cooked your favorite way - hash browns (with a bit of bell pepper tossed in)

18.  A Plate of Potatoes: Hash Browns

20.  One of the things listed in the song, My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music: Whiskers on kittens

20.  One of my Favorite Things: Whiskers on Kittens

Or, maybe that should be "Whiskers on Kitties" as we are not exactly a kitten, anymore!

"Hey!  Are you calling me an old cat?
 I'm a kitten at heart."

Thank you for hosting the WPSH, Eileen.

If anyone else wishes to participate in the WPSH, it doesn't end till end of March, so you have plenty of time to join in the fun!

  1. These are all very good. The entwined ones are excellent selections. And also, Dancer fits right in! I couldn't comment on your last post, blogger denied me permission! I was going to say how cute the calico visitor is. I hope she has a home nearby and was only out investigating the neighborhood.

    1. Thank you, Celie. I'm sorry you were denied permission to comment on the previous post! How rude of blogger! I, too, hope that the calico cat has a proper home and is just visiting ; I really don't want another cat! But, I feel sorry for it, too, and don't want to be without giving it some food!

  6. Entwined - definitely the rosemary. I love the way you zero in on the bent wire photo. The clouds are spectacular, and who could resist whiskers on kitties? I'm trying to ignore the hash browns! 😛

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I have a copper kettle, too (although it needs a good polishing to make it shiny and bright), but, I knew I had to go with whiskers on kitties! :D Hash browns? What hash browns? You didn't see any hash browns! :D

  7. Great start! My faves are something living, clouds and whiskers. Your hash browns are quite different from what we would call hash browns, which are more like potato cakes made from grated potatoes. I'd struggle to decide on my favourite method of cooking potatoes ... your bowlful would definitely have gone down well!!

    1. Thank you, Ella. We have that kind of hash browns, here, too. Sometimes, they are known as shredded potatoes. My daughter likes the hash browns made with shredded potatoes; I prefer the diced potatoes. There are many tasty ways of cooking potatoes, aren't there? And all are delicious!

  8. I'm not sure what I would choose for the potato one - I generally like potatoes in all their forms!! Definitely whiskers on kittens though!

    1. Thank you, FD. :) I, too, like potatoes in various forms. At first, I thought of taking a photo of my copper kettle, but, then, I decided that it had to be whiskers on kitties! :D

    1. Thank you, Debra; yes, it couldn't be anything else other than Dancer's whiskers for that prompt! I thought you'd like the rosemary picture; I know you like how those stems twist around!
