Superbowl Sunday

Napping Under the Lemon Tree

It was sunny with a high of 62F.  Mama Cat left her box to nap under the lemon tree for a change.  I spent a relaxed morning replying to blog comments and reading.

In the afternoon, I settled down to watch the Superbowl.  The team I had chosen to cheer for led in the first half of the game, but, they lost in overtime.  It was a good game, though, and I thought the teams were well matched.  I enjoyed the game and the commercials aired during the game.  I started on another crochet project, using some leftover yarn, while I watched the game.  But, I am going to have to buy more yarn to finish the project as I don't have enough leftover yarn!

Later in the evening, after the game was over, I watched some TV, chatted with one of my cousins, read a few blogs, and video chatted with my daughter.

I had a cold cuts (roast beef) sandwich for brunch; dinner was leftover rice and chicken.

On Sunday, I was grateful for:

- Hot water on tap/the luxury of a hot shower
- Sunny days
- Being able to watch TV
- Being able to keep in touch with family and friends
- Being able to crochet and knit

Sunday's joyful activities included watching the Superbowl and crocheting.

Monday's To Do List:
- Change bed sheets
- Load of laundry (bed sheets/towels)
- Dust living room & dining area
- Clean the fridge
- Take trash cans to the curb for Tuesday trash pick up
- Order groceries
- Pick up groceries (unless the store cancels the order, again!)
- Renew library books

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. It's a shame your team lost but glad you enjoyed watching the game. It's a nice mild and sunny day here so I am going to combine Tilly's walk with taking a photo for Eileen's monthly challenge. I did all my housework over the weekend so will enjoy this sunshine while it lasts..

    1. To be quite honest, I wasn't too invested in who won, but, I thought I should support the team from my state, if not from my city. :)
I'm glad you are having a mild and sunny day. You did well to get all your housework done over the weekend; now you can play during the rest of the week! Enjoy your walk with Tilly. :)

    1. Each task on the list shouldn't take more than a few minutes of active work. But, writing it all out and checking off the items makes me feel like I got stuff done! :D

  3. I tuned into the game from time to time to check progress and watch a few commercials. However, since I didn't care who won, I went to bed when they went into overtime at 10:30 pm. It was a good game, especially for those who like football.

    1. The game started at 3:00 p.m. my time, so watching it till the end was not a problem for me (in any case, I was up till 4:00 a.m.!) But, I did enjoy watching the game. :)

  4. Your lemons are such a vibrant yellow! 🍋 Nice place for a nap. 🐈‍⬛
I made crockpot white chili and we will have leftovers for a meal during the week.
Sunday’s weather was nice, although not as sunny as it had been. I did a 1 mile walk; I am working on improving my fitness level as I had gotten pretty sedentary.
I really enjoyed the Super Bowl. I, too, thought it was a fair match and it was fun to watch some good football.
Your Monday sounds busy. It will be quiet here. My husband and I are both off work for Lincoln’s birthday which is a holiday in the New York court system. 😊
I should follow your example and clean the refrigerator! We’ll see if my good intentions are met. 😬

    1. They are Meyer lemons, which are a cross between lemons (or citron according to some references) and a mandarin hybrid. They tend to be sweeter than regular lemons, are rounder in shape, and have a deeper yellow color. :)
Your crockpot white chili sounds good and well done on your 1 mile walk! Glad you enjoyed the Superbowl. :)
I find that I can get more done on Mondays, besides, each task will take only a few minutes of active work time; cleaning the fridge might take a bit longer. Oh, enjoy your holiday! We only get Presidents Day, next Monday.

  5. Mama cat must have chosen to nap there because the lemons contrast nicely with her coat. As we don't have TV, except for streaming, we didn't watch the Super Bowl. Instead we started watching "Martin Chuzzlewit" on Britbox. I never tire of watching the interesting characters that Dickens describes, and listening to the often quaint dialogue. We finished watching "Little Dorrit" the other week and enjoyed it very much.

    1. Mama Cat has her particular nap spots and under the lemon tree is a favorite place! Sounds like you found a good alternative to the Superbowl to watch! :)

  6. I think you must have been cheering for the same team my son in law was cheering for. He wasn't too pleased!

    1. Yes, it was a rather disappointing finish if you were a 49ers fan, especially since they were leading in the first half. Oh, well; in order for one team to win, the other team has to lose, doesn't it?

  7. Mama cat has the right idea. I think I could use a nap beneath a lemon tree, on a sunny day. X

    1. A nap under a nice, shady tree would be great on a sunny day, wouldn't it? :)

  8. That's a nice contrast of colors with Momma Cat lying underneath the lemon tree.
You are doing well as you continue to use your yarn stash for your projects. Have you ordered the yarn you need to finish?

    1. She seems to like sleeping under the lemon tree! Reminds me of the song, "Lemon Tree" :)
I have finished all except for one ball of wool in my yarn stash and I've started on my daughter's yarn stash! But, yes, I've ordered more yarn to finish the project I started while watching the game. It will be a blanket for my daughter in her favorite colors of pink and white! I am using acrylic yarn for that so that the blanket can be machine washed.
