No Rain on Tuesday

Spicy Sauteed Garbanzo Beans

Tuesday's brunch was a bowl of spicy sauteed garbanzo beans from a package I had cooked and frozen, earlier, and a banana-blueberry muffin.

It was a partly cloudy day, today, but, there was no rain.  I spent the morning doing my usual morning stuff.  In the afternoon, I went to the pharmacy to pick up two of my prescription medication refills.  I was very pleased to see that the pharmacy has placed a container for depositing unwanted and expired medications!  I have some old medications that I can dispose of appropriately, now.  I only went to the pharmacy, today, and only picked up my medications.  I didn't buy anything else and I didn't go to the dollar store, on the other side of the pharmacy/drug store.

I had my brunch after I came home and then, I spent the rest of the afternoon reading my library book.  I have another couple of chapters to read and then, I can return the book to the library.

Later, I watched news and some other TV programs and crocheted.  I haven't started on daughter's blanket, yet.  Instead, I'm using the yarn she has in her stash down here to make another lap blanket to be donated to the cancer clinic.

Dinner was leftover from last night's dinner: rice, beef curry, and moringa curry.

Today, I'm grateful for:
- The availability of medications
- Medical insurance and drug coverage
- A safe drive to the pharmacy and back
- Time to read and crochet
- Phone calls and emails with family and friends

Today's joyful activities included reading and crocheting.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is supposed to be a sunny day.  M will be here in the late morning to tend to the garden and I might order some groceries to be picked up in the afternoon.

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. That's good that the pharmacy will now dispose of unwanted medicines safely otherwise when people do their own thing it's bad for the environment. That's nice you are crocheting a blanket to donate to cancer patients, well done.

    1. I was very happy to see that the pharmacy had the collection box for old medicines. :)
Thank you; I used to knit hats to donate, but, now, I thought I'll do blankets for a change. :)

  2. It's very handy that they have a deposit place for old meds in the pharmacy now. We have used it a few times. However, I find they go through periods where it's locked, and they aren't taking deposits. And that's in all the stores, not just one. Maybe they get backed up from time to time.

    1. I will take some of the expired medications I have when I go the next time, and check if the box is locked. The one I saw in this pharmacy looks a little like a mail box, with a top to pull open to to deposit the medications.

  3. The garbanzo beans look very appealing. I bought 2 cans of them to try roasting because I’ve read that they’re delicious, but I haven’t done it yet.
Tuesday was quiet, as anticipated. Today I have work in the morning, then a free afternoon for some household chores.
I had a nice walk yesterday in the neighborhood. It was sunny, but cool. Today is warmer, but the rain just stopped, so still pretty damp.
We received a condolence card from a cousin who is a pet-lover like me. She has 3 cats. Thank you, belatedly, for your hugs and sweet message upon the death of the oldest cat in the world. 🐈

    1. My daughter likes to roast the garbanzo beans to eat as a snack. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed a nice walk around the neighborhood, yesterday. Enjoy your free afternoon, today, even if it is a bit wet! How is your daughter doing after the death of the oldest cat in the world?

    2. Thank you for asking about my daughter. She’s practical and not dramatic but she shed many tears for her dear cat. Daughter is 30 years old but it’s the first pet she’s lost. It was nice to have her home so we could all be together. ❤️

    3. Aw, she's the same age as my daughter (probably a bit younger as my daughter turns 31 next month!) I'm glad she was with you so you could be there for her.

  4. I'm sure those garbanzos were delicious! We can return expired meds to the pharmacy but they don't have a container, I just hand them over and they look at me as if I'm nuts, but it is what we are supposed to do.

    1. The garbanzo beans were pretty good, if I say so myself! :)
I've tried returning expired medications back to the pharmacy and they've told me they don't take them! I was told to toss them in the trash or take them to the police station!

    2. What terrible advice, I'm shocked!

    3. I know, Eileen; I told them that we were supposed to hand them over to the pharmacy staff, but, I was given the impression that they would just toss them out!

  5. Do they have a place for recycling the plastic/metal sachets & pop-out packets the pills come in? We can't put them in our recycling, and I go through so many. I wish they could be recycled somehow. Love FD xx

    1. I don't think so, FD. At least, I didn't seen any. There were drawings of what will be accepted and not on the container, but, I didn't check them (I was standing in line to pick up my medications and didn't want to leave the line to check the details).

  6. Those beans look good and tasty.
A lapblanket is a great way to use up some of the yarn stash, and I'm sure it will be much appreciated by someone attending the clinic. Xx

    1. Thank you, Jules. They are good for snacking on, too. :)
Yes, a friend gave me a purchased blanket when I began my chemo and I used to take it with me, every time. I thought a crocheted blanket or two would be appreciated. :)

  7. Your spicy chickpeas look really good. Have you told us before how you make them? I can't recall.
That's great that the pharmacy has a drop for unused medicines.

    1. Here you go, Debra:
      https://bless2cents.blogspot.com/2016/04/spiced-garbanzo-beans.html
Basically, saute some onions, mustard seeds, curry leaves, in a bit of oil, add drained boiled or canned garbanzo beans/chick peas, add curry powder and chilies, salt and lemon juice to taste.
I'm glad that the pharmacy has a drop for the unused medications. I will make a point of taking my expired medications the next time I go to pick up my prescriptions. :)
