The Weekend

From the Archives: Pink Rose (April 17, 2023)

Saturday was a bit of a low energy day for me.  I had planned to do various things, but, maybe the drive downtown and back to go to the medical appointment or the after effects of the bone density booster injection, or a combination of the two, made me feel, not exactly tired, but, low energy and lethargic, and I felt unmotivated to do anything much all day.

In the evening, however, I began to feel better.  I video chatted with my daughter and she helped me with ordering a few things such as more cans of wet food for Dancer and a new charging cord for my laptop as I was experiencing some problems with charging it with my current cord.  Fortunately, I have my old (very slow) laptop as a back up!  I didn't have any internet connection on that old laptop for the longest time, but, my daughter was able to reset it, on her last visit home.  I don't use it that much, but, I was able to use it, today.

After daughter and I ended our video chat, I becan to watch the USA vs. Sweden World Cup soccer game.  It aired live at 2:00 a.m. my time (there was a rebroadcast in the afternoon, today, but, I didn't realize that until much later).  It was a good game, I thought, and the two teams were well matched, although the USA team didn't win.

While I watched the game, I labeled and put away the last batch of tomato chutney, tidied and dusted the family room, and cleaned the litter box.

The soccer match ended around 5:00 a.m., which was when I went to bed!  I woke up at 11:30 a.m., this morning.  By the time I had my morning tea and said my prayers, it was already past noon.

In the afternoon, I did a load of laundry (bath mats; Dancer threw up on them, early this morning).  Then, I cleaned the bathroom and swept and mopped the floor.

Later, I watered the back garden and the indoor plants.  I also called and wished former neighbor T and a friend's daughter for their birthdays.  T mentioned that the house is in escrow, which would explain why they were surveying the place on Friday.

This weekend, I am grateful for:

- Being able to rest when I don't feel up to doing much
- Having a back up laptop
- Daughter helping me with ordering stuff online
- Water for the garden
- Getting a few things accomplished

Joyful activities included reading my library book, spending time in the garden, and video chatting with my daughter.

Plans for Monday include picking up Dancer's new medication and paying some bills!

How was your weekend?  What are your plans for the upcoming week?

  1. I watched the USA match but what a shame they lost on penalties. I am about to watch the England match this morning and fingers crossed they do well. Hopefully when T's house sells you will have some more good neighbours. My day has started off with three things gone wrong already and all within one hour, I will have to write about it after the match :)

    1. I'm sorry that three things have already gone wrong this morning and all within one hour! I hope the rest of the day will go well and you enjoy watching the England match.

  2. It's nice to see that beautiful rose again. Hopefully your new neighbours will be good ones & easy to be neighbourly with. Oh dear about Dancer throwing up. I finally found a food that both girls like & they no longer throw up or at least only now as a fur ball, no food.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou; I've no more roses blooming in my garden due to the heat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the new neighbors. I have a feeling that the house will be bought by investors (they are just about the only people who can afford to buy houses in my area), who will convert the garage to a second dwelling unit, and sell both. I do hope I'll get some good neighbors.
Dancer likes the new (more expensive) canned food I've bought for him; he threw up some yellow phlegm like stuff this time. We think the thyroid issues make him feel nauseated from time to time, poor kitty.

  3. I am not dedicated enough to any team to stay up most of the night watching them play. But, of course, I operate on a different schedule than you do. :) Sorry the US lost, but they are a younger team who will only be getting better.

    1. LOL, I am not that dedicated to soccer, either, June, but, I just felt that I should do my bit to support our team! I didn't realize that it would be rebroadcast during the afternoon on the following day! In any case, I like to watch things as they happen. And I got some cleaning done, as well! :D

  4. Today is a low energy day for me! It feels like I'm coming down with a cold. I'll try to fight it off. It's too bad the US lost the game, but overall I think the team did very well. That rose was gorgeous, by the way. I hope you get good new neighbors!

    1. Oh, I'm sorry you might be coming down with a cold, Celie. I hope you manage to fight it off! Lots of orange juice for vitamin C! We boil coriander seeds to make a tea which we drink to get rid of a cold. Sometimes, we add ginger to the tea, especially if we think we might get a cough, as well. Coriander tea is our panacea for just about everything - like chicken soup!
Yes, I think the USA team did very well.
Thank you; that rose was very pretty, wasn't it? I'm glad I have a picture of it to remind me. :)
Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get good neighbors; we shall see. I've a feeling some investors bought the house and they will convert the garage into an additional dwelling unit, and then, sell them both! That's what the neighbors next to T's did, except they are renting out both units. But, hopefully, whoever occupies the house nextdoor will be good neighbors. :)

  5. Lovely rose flower.

It's best to listen to your body on those low energy days and get a bit more rest. I'm glad you started feeling better.

    1. Thank you, Sharon; no more roses right now. Yes, just taking it easy when I don't feel quite as energetic.

  6. I'm glad you felt better as the day went on. It's horrible when we feel lethargic and unmotivated, especially when there are things that we need to get on with. X

    1. Thank you, Jules. Sometimes, I just have to tell myself to do one small task, and that helps to get me motivated to do more. But, I am usually most energetic in the evenings, so I just do things then. :)

  7. Sometimes you just need to kick back and take a vacation day as I call it. But even so, you still managed to get a few things done later in the day.
Houses do get snapped up quickly don't they? Nothing stays on the market long. I am hoping for nice quiet pleasant new neighbors for you.

    1. Yes, although I think it was the bone density injection that made me feel a bit tired on Saturday. But, I got my energy back later on.
Houses do get sold fairly quickly these days, don't they? Thank you, Debra; I, too, hope I get good neighbors. :)
