Stash Busting Scrappy Grannies

Scrappy Granny Squares Lap Blanket

My stash busting scrappy granny squares lap blanket is done!  It measures approximately 38 inches by 38 inches, which is a good size for a lap blanket, I think.  My daughter said it was "So fun and eclectic" and Dancer has given his seal of approval:

Dancer Approved!

My yarn stash is much depleted now!

Here's the before:

Yarn Stash: July 2023

Here's the stash now:

Yarn Stash as of August 24, 2023

Just a bag of some odds and ends of Christmas-y yarn, a bag of 100% wool yarn (probably just enough for a pair of socks), and the little bit left from the purple variegated yarn as there wasn't enough of it to do another row of the border with it.  Maybe it might become the beginning of another granny square, eventually!  Or, it might get used to darn the heel of one of the knitted socks.

But, now that I've used up most of the yarn stash, I am giving myself permission to buy new yarn!  LOL!  I can always do with another new sweater, right?

  1. The blanket is lovely! It's very cheerful and bright. I'm very glad Dancer approves! He has such excellent taste in cosy blankets. And of course, now you must buy more yarn and replenish your stash :D

    1. Thank you, Anne. There was a sign at the yarn store when I was last there in person (pre-Covid), which said, "Yarn is cheaper than therapy"! I fully agree! :D

  7. Dancer is definitely the quality control of the house. I'm not surprised that he approves the fun, colorful blanket. How's Dancer doing with his meds and eating?

    1. Yes, he's the chief quality control officer at this end! :D He's doing much better with his eating, although he's become quite fussy about which brand of canned cat food he prefers and which flavor! His thyroid medication strength was increased and he will be checked again in another month or so for that. The arthritis injections seem to be helping him - he is able to climb onto things with less of a struggle and he races around the house more often! :D

    2. That's good to hear. The arthritis injections didn't help my cats much, but I'm glad to hear that Dancer is benefiting.

    3. Thank you, June. I'm sorry the injections didn't help your cats. How is Annie doing these days? Has she adjusted to her solo status?

  9. What a fun blanket you made. You whipped that project up pretty quickly. And with Dancer's valuable seal of approval too - a real winner of a project.
When you tell us of your being cold in your home and sitting in front of your heater wrapped up, we will be able to picture one of the (many) things you are wrapped in lol
And look at your stash. You have to look closely because it's almost nonexistent. Congratulations on using all of your yarn.
Absolutely it's time to check for some yarn sales for you.

As for the stash ... well, I found a bit more yarn (pink and white, leftover from a baby blanket I crocheted last winter) in another bag, after I finished this blanket! I was sneaky and added that yarn to my daughter's stash! LOL. And...when you read on, you'll see that I didn't waste any time buying more yarn! :D
