Behind Again, Naturally

I am so glad I was able to get quite a bit of housework done last Friday, because, I am behind, again, on my weekly cleaning schedule!   Oh, dear!

Monday wasn't too bad.  I decided I didn't need to wash and change my bed sheets, but, I did do a load of laundry, dusted the living room and dining are, cleaned the fridge, and took the trash cans to the curb,

Monday:
- Change bed sheets - Decided I didn't need to
- Load of laundry (bed sheets/towels) - DONE
- Dust living room & dining area - DONE
- Clean the fridge - DONE
- Take trash cans to the curb for Tuesday trash pick up - DONE

On Tuesday, I brought the trash cans in, called the pharmacy, and made chutney!  After that, I was too tired to clean!  Fortunately, I didn't have any errands to run!  I did wash all the dishes, wiped up all spills from the chutney making, swept the bathroom, and cleaned the litter box!

Tuesday:
- Dust family room and my bedroom - Not done
- Errands, if any (grocery shopping, etc.) - Didn't need to
- Water the garden, front and back - Not done
- Water the house plants - Not done

And, here we are on Wednesday, already, with its own list of cleaning to do!  I can't keep up with my own schedule!  I will add Tuesday's list to today's list and try to catch up!

Wednesday:
- Vacuum
- Paperwork/filing
- Do one decluttering/organizing task
From Tuesday:
- Dust family room and bedroom
- Water the garden front and back
- Water the houseplants

How about you?  Do you have a weekly cleaning schedule?  If so, are you able to keep up?  Or, are you, too, behind with your cleaning?

  1. I vacuum almost every day (I know I’m a nut 🤪), dust and mop the floors once a week. I really don’t have a set schedule though.

    1. You get more done without a schedule than I do with a schedule! Something is not quite right, somewhere! LOL.

  2. I'm behind, too. Yesterday was the day to change the bed but the sheets didn't get washed as the washer is right underneath DH's computer room and he was on some kind of an internet meeting in the morning. So I washed them this morning and got them on the washing line, then headed out for groceries. No waiting to enter the supermarket but when I came out there was a line up! Of course when I have finished putting away groceries and making lunch, I don't get much done! I did take in the sheets and put out some table cloths and tea towels I washed. Tomorrow I will catch up with those cleaning jobs that were left over from Tuesday.

    1. I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one who is behind, Bushlady! Sounds like you've had a couple of busy days! Glad you didn't have to wait to get into the supermarket. You must have gone while it was still quite early.

  3. Until I get through at Mom's house I have no schedule. Maybe someday!
Right now I am so far behind it is not even funny.

    1. You have a valid excuse, Anne. I'm just procrastinating!

  4. I've changed things round and am doing all the basic cleaning (floors, dusting, bathrooms and kitchen) over two days. Once that's done I am happy that the house is clean and tidy but will spend an hour or so on the third day doing something extra like window cleaning, wiping down paintwork etc. Laundry gets done as it's needed.

For now I feel on top of all the household chores and I really like that I don't have chores every day. I don't know how long that feeling will last when I am able to go out again!

    1. That's a little like what I did last Friday - I did all the floors, bathrooms, and kitchen in one day. But, I don't always have the energy to do that. I might consider doing something like that, or, three days a week. :)

  5. I'm hoping to get a little cleaning done today on my work breaks. We'll see. I always seem to find something more interesting to do than cleaning.

    1. I agree with you - there always something more interesting to do than cleaning, especially when one is taking a break from work!

  6. I'm always behind and I don't even have a cleaning schedule :) I try to get things done whenever I get an opportunity but that doesn't happen very often now, with Lily being home from school. X

    1. Oh, that's too funny, Jules, to be behind without even a schedule. :D Sounds like it might be time to assign Lily some household chores so she can join you when you clean the house. :)

  7. Of course you are behind. You've been busy filling your days with other things that need doing. I find that if I go outside to work in the yard, I can't possible go back inside and continue working there as well. Or conversely, if I need to stay inside to work in the kitchen, there are no more hours in the day to do anything outside. You need to pick one and be glad to get it done.

    1. And here I was thinking I can do it all - you know, wave around my duster while the canning jars sterilize; zoom around with the vacuum while the jars of jam can, mop the kitchen while I stir the chutney, and so forth! LOL. Thank you for being the voice of reason! :)
