Productive Friday

Friday Night Dinner - Compliments of Friend S

Yes, friend S strikes again!  LOL!  The styrofoam box contains rice, coconut sambol, sauteed greens, okra, and eggplant.  The two smaller containers in front contain mutton curry and cashew curry.  In addition, there is a piece of chocolate cake for dessert, a yogurt, and a packet of cream buns for snacks!

I've had a productive day, today.  The morning was relaxed - I replied to blog comments, posted on a couple of blogs, and watched news.  I tried to call the cancer center to set up an appointment for July, but, there was no answer, although their voicemail recording didn't say that they were closed; I shall try calling them again, later.  I had leftover milk rice with onion sambol for breakfast, because I wanted to finish up the leftovers.

Then, in the afternoon, I cleaned the house.  I did a little dusting, vacuumed the house, cleaned both bathrooms (but, mopped only my bathroom), mopped the kitchen and washed the lower cabinet fronts, washed the kitchen rug and bath mats, and damp mopped the living room, dining area, hallway, and my bedroom, because the I haven't done that in a long time. I'm very happy with what I was able to accomplish in terms of house cleaning, today!  Halfway through the cleaning, I stopped to have tuna salad on crackers for a late lunch.

Friend S called around 5:00 p.m. to check if I was at home because she was on her way over!  I quickly picked some curry leaves and four peaches to give her, because I know that when she calls to say she's on her way, it means she's bringing something!  Sure enough, she brought me dinner!  Well, she brought me enough for several dinners!  I decided to change my meal plan and not cook the sausage stir fry I had planned to make!  LOL.  In any case, I would have been too tired to cook by the time I finished cleaning!

When M came over to tend to the garden, he brought me a posy of gardenias, which, I thought, was the perfect finishing touch for the clean house!  I shared some of my tea bags with him.

Later in the evening, friend R called (she, too, received dinner from friend S) and I video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Friend S bringing me dinner and treats
- M bringing me flowers from his garden
- A clean house!
- Garden fruit
- What I was able to accomplish

My joyful activity was enjoying the dinner S brought me.

Friday's To Do List:
- Clean the bathrooms - DONE
- Do one deep cleaning task/Clean the kitchen - DONE
Errands, if any (did on Thursday)
- Vacuum - DONE
- Tend to the garden with M - DONE
- Make the peach topping - DONE

Saturday's To Do List:
- Water the garden (front and back)

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  3. You had a GREAT day. You had such a productive day. Milk rice with onion sambol must be the breakfast of champions, because it sure lit a fire in you. I should try that. Ha.

I came out of my bedroom this morning to a messy and cluttered house. Who is doing this I wondered to myself. I'm the only one who lives here, and I'm the only one left to clean it up. When I find out the answer, I'll let you know. It just seems so unfair. LOL

Your housecleaning efforts were well rewarded today with gifts of food, flowers, and friendships. Enjoy.

    1. Thank you, Susan. Yes, it was a good day for getting things done! It reminded me a little of the time, long years ago, when I used to work only half day on Fridays - I used to come home and clean the apartment in the afternoon and everything was done when my mother came home from teaching. :)

I think we can safely blame Rocky dog for the mess in your house. I often blame Dancer for the mess in my house! :D

I was very grateful for the gift of dinner, for sure. I was too tired to cook after cleaning!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend, Susan. Enjoy trivia night, tonight!

    1. She really is a wonderful friend. I feel very blessed to have her as a friend.

Yesterday's productivity was an exception to the rule! I had been procrastinating on vacuuming for too long and the dust bunnies were becoming jack rabbits! :D

Thank you, Sharon. I hope that you, too, are having a lovely weekend. Take some time for yourself and do something fun. Maybe camp in your backyard!

  6. Sometimes it just all comes together--a productive day, a clean house, good food that you didn't have to cook, and pretty flowers to top it all off. Good for you. We all deserve those days then and again.

  7. What a lovely lot of food! Just what you needed after so much hard work.
The weather is a little cool but still okay to eat outside which we love to do. We finally finished off a dessert of rhubarb brown betty which is rather like the apple version and a nice change from pie or cobbler. I've found a couple more interesting rhubarb desserts in my recipe cards so I might try one in a day or two.

    1. It was lovely to have dinner delivered and, today, all I had to do was serve some to a plate and warm it up!

Ooh, your rhubarb brown betty sounds delicious! I love rhubarb (but, haven't been able to grow it) and it's kind of expensive to buy. However, I do have apples! And peaches! :)

She delivers the best care packages - and to friend R too.
That is so nice of her.
How lucky to have the benefit of her kindness on a Fay you were so busy.
I bet your house is all sparkly!

    1. Yes, indeed, S is a good friend to have! She really is one of the most giving people I know. I'll tell her, when I see her next, that she has several people wanting to be friends with her! :D

The house looks a lot better than it has in days! It's still messy, as I didn't tidy and put away, but, it is clean! I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but, I know things have been dusted and vacuumed and scrubbed, so I don't mind stuff piled on horizontal surfaces!
