Peaches and Cream on Sunday

Peaches and "Cream"
Well, peaches and yogurt, actually.  I don't have any cream!  LOL.

I picked the last few peaches that were on the tree, today.  I thought there were about 3 or 4 left, but, there were 7:

The Last Peaches
You can see that I haven't put away the jars of canned peaches from yesterday, yet!  I wrote out the date I processed them on pieces of masking tape and labeled the jars, today.

I cut up one of the peaches I picked today and had it with some vanilla yogurt for a late night snack.  It was a good way to celebrate the longest day of the year and the start of summer, I thought.

I felt a little tired, today, and had a bit of an asthma flareup.  So, I took it relatively easy.

Brunch was leftover stringhoppers with potato curry and chicken curry.  Afterwards, I did a load of laundry, started the car, cleaned the litter box, and watered the garden, both front and back.  Dinner was salad and a potato sliced and fried.  Later, I snacked on cereal and had the peach with yogurt.

Today, I am grateful for:
- The last of the peaches
- Inhalers
- The car started without any problems
- Water for the garden
- Chatting with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was picking the last of the peaches.

Monday's To Do List:
- Change bed sheets
- Load of laundry (bed sheets/towels)
- Dust living room & dining area
- Clean the fridge
- Take trash cans to the curb for Tuesday trash pick up
- Tidy the kitchen and family room
- Try out an online stretching class
- Put away the laundry from Sunday (hanging up to dry)
- Give Dancer his flea prevention treatment

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  2. Since reading about your peaches, I've checked out growing peaches & I've discovered that peaches do not do well in our region because of the wind; we get a lot, so alas I'll have to stick to waiting for the Niagara region's peaches to be ready in August (it's an area south of us & have world famous peaches). I hope that your asthma has calmed down. Happy Day.

    1. Oh, that's too bad that you can't grow peaches. Unless, maybe you can manage to find a sheltered spot where the wind might not be too strong? If not, enjoy the Niagara region's peaches when they do become available. My asthma is better, today, thank you.

    1. Fresh peaches, just picked from the tree, are so delicious! I hope you are able to get some peaches, yourself, soon. Thank you, Natalia; hope you have a lovely day and a good week, ahead.

  4. That was a perfect way to celebrate the longest day and herald in the start of summer.

The pollen count is up today so hayfever is back with a vengeance but fortunately I have the medication so it's controlled. It just makes me feel tired but the itchy eyes, runny nose and earache haven't put in an appearance, so all is good.

    1. I'm glad you have the medications to help with the hayfever, Eileen. I used to get really bad hayfever, but, then, it went away on its own! Or, maybe it turned into asthma and sinus infections, instead.

  5. Your peaches continue to look so good. You have me all primed for when the peaches get ripe here. Peach season will be very soon and I can't wait.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. I hope you enjoy your peaches when you get them. This particular variety that I have (Eva's Pride) is considered an early season peach and the fruit was ready even before they were supposed to be. My neighbor has a peach tree growing near our common side wall that is only now setting fruit. I am wondering if I should get a second, later season tree, as well. :)

  6. I'm glad you took it a little easier today, though it always sounds like a pretty full day to me. And you still go outdoors to water the gardens as well.

I thought you were done with the peaches, but with seven more found on your little tree I am thinking there might be another couple of jam jars coming. Your photos ARE stunning by the way. Someone commented on the quality of your photos yesterday, and I agree. Photos of food are supposed to be difficult to take, but yours always look good enough to devour. Ha,ha.

My plans for the day include a couple of phone calls....one to the township regarding another grocery pick-up and one to a utilities company about changing out a meter. (They say it has to be completed NOW, in the middle of this shutdown). I need to make yoghurt. I need to vacuum. I need to make keto buns. I want to get outside.

    1. Thank you, Susan. The photos are just cell phone photos. I think I am done with peach jam. The last few peaches will be eaten fresh or, maybe, just maybe, baked into a peach turnover or muffins! :)

I see that you have planned a busy day! I hope you are able to get all the groceries you want, the meter is changed with minimal contact, and you are able to accomplish all your cooking and cleaning, with enough time to get outside and garden, too. :)

  7. I am still stunned at the abundance from your 2 year old tree. It is a happy little guy living in your garden.

    1. It really did itself proud, this year, didn't it? "Just add water" is the key, I guess, along with M's careful tending. He lavished a lot of care on it. He pruned it, last Friday. Now, it's a matter of keeping it watered and protected from borers and other insects; we will give it the leaf curl treatment when it is dormant, later this year. It would be very sad if the first proper crop was the last, as well!

  8. Your peaches and yogurt look so pretty on the blue plate.

On Monday I spent time with a friend that I hadn't seen since mid March. We walked outside together in a quiet place. It was funny to compare hair styles, neither of us having had a trim for weeks!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. Those blue dishes are from a set I purchased from a thrift store when I was a student, for 10 cents a piece! They have Currier and Ives prints on them, but, back then, I had no idea what they were. I just liked them and the price was right! :D

Oh, that's so nice that you were able to meet up with a friend. Hair salons and barber shops have opened up, over here. Doesn't matter to me because I don't get my hair trimmed or colored, etc. But, I know that it makes a big difference to others. :)

  9. I hope you feel all well now, Bless. Is it dust that causes your asthma?

My mom used to have asthma attacks frequently when she was in her thirties and forties. Now it’s rare, though she has to use an inhaler.

    1. I'm well now, Nil, thank you. Yes, dust, pollen, mold, and just plain tiredness, they all seem to trigger asthma attacks in me. I used to get hay fever, but, that seems to have turned into sinus infections and asthma. I do use an inhaler, but, I also have a fast acting "rescue" inhaler to take when I need to. Glad to hear that your mom's asthma attacks are under control with the inhaler. :)
