Quiet Saturday

Saturday's forecast said chances of rain, but, it didn't rain in my area; it was just overcast and gloomy.

Whatever had caused my upset stomach had worked its way through my system and I felt better, again.  But, I didn't feel very energetic and I took it easy.  I checked on the plants in the morning, watered the newly transplanted moringa plants, and took a couple of photos for the Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt:

#17: Something Naturally Round
Oranges on my tree.

I picked some:

Freshly Picked Oranges

I think I will go with the photo of the orange on the tree as my SPSH photo.

This photo came out a bit blurry, I think:

#1 A Favorite Piece of Jewelry
A polymer clay pendant in the shape of a cupcake, with frosting, sprinkles, and a cherry on the top.  It measures less than one inch.  Made by my daughter and given to me as a birthday gift, several years ago.  The only problem is, I get hungry for cupcakes every time I see it!  LOL.

In the afternoon, I did two loads of laundry, cleaned the litter box, and swept my bathroom.  Then, I watched some TV and started on a pair of fingerless mitts for my daughter.

I was grateful for:
- Feeling well, again
- Being able to pick fresh oranges from my tree
- Working appliances
- Hot and cold running water on tap and indoor plumbing
- Being able to video chat with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was picking fresh oranges from the tree.

Plans for Sunday include watering the garden and sewing.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. Lovely photos - a good start to the hunt! I like the cupcake pendant your daughter made for you ... she really is very talented, but you probably already know that!

I'm glad you're feeling better. Having an easier day was a good idea and I hope you feel rested and back to full health.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Yes, I do think my daughter is talented, but, I might be a bit biased! LOL.

I'm feeling much better, now, thank you. In fact, it might be time to have some fiber in my diet, again! :D

  2. When I saw the jewelry, even before I read it, I thought your daughter had probably made it. She is very artistic and talented and here's another example.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. :) The pendant is one of a kind, isn't it? When she was a little girl and wanted to play with her friends (my neighbor S's daughters), she used to say, "Please, with a cherry on the top" (she didn't like maraschino cherries, but, knew that I liked them!) When I see the cupcake with the cherry on the top, I am reminded of what she used to say. :)

  4. We've had lots of rain here these last 2 days. What a change after weeks of sunshine. I'm pottering in the kitchen sorting out my crockery

    1. Sorry to hear about all the rain you've been having, Angela. But, it sounds like you are making good use of your time, though. :)

  5. It must be wonderful to walk into your yard and pick oranges and lemons.
    And now peaches!

The little cupcake pendant is adorable. What a treasured gift made by your daughter.

    1. Thank you, Debra. Yes, the cupcake pendant is special to me. :)

As for picking fruit from the garden, I love it and I am looking forward to the pineapple guavas and any pomegranates I might get, later in the year. :)

  6. I am so sorry you have had to interrupt your week with a case of the 'summer yucks' ...hope you can continue feeling better- there is never a good time to get ill, but the added annoyance of summer heat is like an insult added to it-
This whole decision-making time for choosing new walls/flooring/etc is getting interesting ... especially when the 'littles' (Kailyn and Jamie) add their preferences- to date, Jamie has shown a definite preference for anything pink, and Kailyn has spoken quite emphatically in favor of orange- how wonderful I can just tune those choices out! (I would have a colorful place though, wouldn't I?) Fortunately I have a little while to make a final decision, as there is some construction work I want done before 'finishing touches' need to be addressed- since I can't say that I really wanted to have this move, I am at least going to have things I really want- geez, I am becoming a difficult person-
Today may bring a trip to a farmers' market with both Paige and Dana- all of us are already thinking about baskets of fresh produce- the grocery stores in this area are so small that their choices are limited although they have certainly done a remarkable job of keeping shelves stocked during the lockdown/reopen times-
Looking forward to seeing your daughter's new mitts- do take care and stay on the road to complete recovery- as always, fondest wishes from here-

    1. Thank you, Barb, I am feeling much better now. :)

I'm afraid I'd agree more with Jaime than Kailyn when it comes to the paint colors, although, a nice vibrant orange might be good in small doses. :) I have all white walls and woodwork, but, I painted the hallway in lilac, several years ago. :) I am glad that you are able to get the new place fixed up to suit you. I still have a lot of things I want done to my house and I was kind of hoping that I'd be able to get to them, this year, but, I think I will postpone those plans for another year or so.

Enjoy the visit to the farmers' market, if you go, today. Take care and stay safe.

  7. I like both photos , especially the pendant.
I’ve been thinking about that prompt, because I don’t wear jewelry much. 😊

  8. Those oranges look perfect! I love the little pendant your daughter made, she is so talented.
We have a lovely day today, not too hot, but sunny and with a breeze. I watched a live Mass from Missouri but the streaming stuck and I quickly switched to another in Michigan!
In the afternoon DH and I walked down to the river and along the beach. There were sailboats out but the water would be very cold to swim in.

  9. Such lovely oranges. I can't get over the fact that you have them growing in your own garden. How can you not be eating them all the time? That is a fantastic choice for the photo hunt.

Such a pretty cupcake pendant, and it probably makes your daughter very happy that you have kept it all this time. My daughter made me a papier mache bracelet for Mother's Day when she was in kindergarten. She worked so hard on it. It was painted pink and decorated with blue squiggles and the teacher had shellacked it, so it was bright and shiny and pink. I really did think it was lovely, but I knew I had really hurt her feelings when one day she asked me why I never wore it. So I did. That day. I wore it to work and I kept it on all through the day, and wore it several times afterwards. My heart broke to think I had wounded her that much. So I know that it means that much to your daughter (even if she protests).

    1. Well, I have been eating the oranges, just not every day. :)

Oh, Susan, my daughter, too, has said that I have not worn her pendant, but, I have worn it, several times! I just don't want it to break, so I don't wear it all the time. But, it's a good reminder to wear it more often, in the future.
