In an attempt to distract myself from fretting about what I am seeing on TV, I took a few more photos for the SPSH:
#2. Something with or in a knot: A wall hanging friends brought back as a gift from China; apparently, the Chinese word for knot sounds the same as their word for harmony and unity. This particular type of knot is called a pan chang knot and is also known as the mystic knot.

#5: Something you have more than one of: I found it hard to decide on a photo for this prompt, simply because I have so many things of which I have more than one! But, eventually, I decided to go with this, as I had it spread out on the coffee table, already: my collection of knitting needles (with a few crochet hooks thrown in!)

In the meantime, my daughter set up her new shelving unit:
Daughter's New Shelving Unit |

It holds her collection of video games and she decided to display some of her "plushies" and amigurumi on top. She crocheted the Tare Panda and Tuxedo Sam, the blue penguin. Eventually, she wants to cut down another box to size to make a drawer/basket for one of the cubbies to hold the games that are in plastic bags for now. The basket she used to store them, earlier, doesn't fit in the cubby, she said, and sticks out.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Fresh fruits from the garden (peaches and oranges)
- Water for the garden
- Phone calls and video chats
- A relaxed day
- My collection of knitting needles!
Today's joyful activity was video chatting with my daughter.
Monday's To Do List:
- Change bed sheets
- Load of laundry (bed sheets/towels)
- Dust living room & dining area
- Clean the fridge
- Take trash cans to the curb for Tuesday trash pick up
- Call the doctor's office to reschedule appointment
How was your Sunday? What are your plans for Monday?

That’s a very neat knot. 😊
ReplyDeleteThe large blue crochet hook you have there - is that a 15mm (Q) hook? Recently I tried using one and gave up, because I couldn’t hold it properly.
The shelving unit looks very nice. 😊
Thank you, Nil.
DeleteI am not sure what the crochet hook size is - I looked to see if the size was marked on it, but, I didn't see anything. But, it is at least twice as big as the 10mm (N) hook that I have. I think it is considered as "jumbo". I hold it the same way I hold all my crochet hooks - with the end of the handle resting on the inside of my palm, three lower fingers curved around the handle, thumb and index finger extended along the handle. I think it is often described as how one would hold a knife (as opposed to a pencil), or "over the hook".
I like the holder for your knitting needles. Did you make it?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Live and Learn. Yes, I did. :)
Deleteahhh, those knitting needles!!! That's my 'more than one', too.....sadly, it could also be my 'more than 50'!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steph. Too funny about your 'more than 50'! :)
DeleteHappy Monday.
ReplyDeleteWish you the same, Regine. :)
DeleteIt is nice that you enjoyed a relaxed day. Our day today is supposed to be another cooler day for working outside before the temperatures start rising again, so that is where I will spend my time. Tonight I am receiving little Rocky (my sister's dog) for a sleep-over. Ha,ha. My sister has an early morning appointment tomorrow in Sudbury for a bone scan and a bone density test, so they will be heading there tonight and staying at a hotel.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a wonderful collection of knitting needles and crochet hooks. I love the photo for "a knot". I don't ever recall seeing that one ever, but it is very striking.
Your daughter did a great job on her shelving unit. It is remarkably strong and rigid.
I hope your sister's bone scan goes well. My scans revealed that I needed calcium supplements.
DeleteApparently, Chinese knots are made with one chord, being woven in and out! They are supposed to be symbols of good luck!
Enjoy your day in the garden and the sleep-over with Rocky! :)
I share your concerns about the demonstrations, which are not only in the US but in many cities around the world. Meanwhile we are still being told to stay 6 feet apart!
ReplyDeleteThe knot on your Chinese gift is perfect for the photo challenge, so are the knitting needles.
You must be proud of your daughter's excellent crafting/organizing skills (obviously inherited!). The storage unit looks great.
It's another pleasant day but I woke up tired and decided that there was no way I wanted to go to town. I can go without a pill for one day and go in tomorrow for the prescription. I washed two light coloured jackets, one winter, one fall weight and since they were grubby in places I had some scrubbing to do before they went into the washer.
I'm sorry you felt tired, Bushlady; I am sure you made the right decision to stay at home. Good idea to wash your jackets before they are stored over the summer. This way, they will be clean and ready to wear when you need to. I have some wool sweaters and socks to be handwashed. I might start on them, today; it is sunny, warm, and windy, so things will dry, fairly quickly.
DeleteI have a Chinese knot like you have hanging in my kitchen window. I am still waiting for the harmony!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your photos and am crazy about the side of your daughters shelving unit.
Ha, ha, hopefully the harmony didn't get all tangled up in the knot! :)
DeleteThank you; she painted cherry blossoms on both sides of the shelving unit.
I like all your photos - especially the one you selected for the knot prompt.
ReplyDeleteLol - I have a lot of needles and hooks too.
Your daughter did a great job turning her boxes into something very useful and pretty too.
Thank you, Debra. :)
DeleteAccording to my daughter, project shoe rack is next on the agenda! :D
