Sunday

Yards of Skirt!

Daughter went out to breakfast with neighbor S's two daughters, today.  I spent a quiet morning, responding to blog comments, reading other blogs, chatting on the phone with neighbor T, and playing online games.  When daughter came home, she brought me a Belgian waffle, topped with sliced banana and strawberries, with the syrup and whipped cream in separate little containers, for my brunch!  Yum!

In the afternoon, daughter tried on her bridesmaid dress and I pinned the hem while she took a nap.  I have to take the dress in a little bit at the waist, too.  Her friend's wedding isn't until October, so I have plenty of time to adjust the dresses.

We decided to spend the rest of the day relaxing at home.  We had leftover Thai food for dinner and fruit for dessert, although I'm craving chocolate chip cookies!  I did snack on a few chocolate chips, though!

Daughter flies back out, tomorrow afternoon.  I have things in the freezer to send back with her - curry puffs and salmon.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Daughter bringing me a totally indulgent breakfast!
- Being able to sew
- Spending another day with my daughter
- More talking about this, that, and the other
-  Pleasant weather - sunny, but, not too hot

My joyful activity for the day was spending time with my daughter.

On my To Do List for Monday:
- Take daughter to the airport
- Clean the fridge
- Take the trash cans to the curb
- Water the garden
- Do the dishes
- Renew library books

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. Yep, that's yards and yards of skirt. Will you hemming by hand or by machine?

    1. I am going to hem by machine, to match the current hem, unless the machine acts up (which it does, from time to time!)

    1. Yes, she'll be coming down every month from now until the end of the year. After that, I'll see her less often, unless I go to visit her!

  3. Good luck with altering the dresses ... that is a lot of fabric and you definitely have your work cut out!

I hope you enjoyed the Belgium waffle x

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Yes, it's a lot of fabric, but, it should go fairly quickly in the sewing machine.

The waffle was delicious! I love waffles, but try not to indulge too often!

    2. I have an electric waffle maker so I indulge way too often 😂

    3. I have an electric waffle maker, too, but for regular waffles, not Belgian waffles. I keep it hidden deep inside a kitchen cabinet! :D

  4. Hi Bless, It always sound like you have such a wonderful time with your daughter. Yesterday I did laundry, some cooking, and knitting. Today I'm washing the sheets, hanging them to dry in the sunshine, mopping floors, and knitting.

    1. Oh, I do, Stephenie. My daughter and I are very close and have always been so. I never had any of the so-called "typical" teen drama with her, other than a few protests about how over protective I was of her! But, she understood why and she didn't rebel.

Sounds like you are being very productive. Hope you have a wonderful day.

    1. It was a very special breakfast, and time spent with my daughter is always special. :)

LOL, I hope the hemming will go smoothly! Sewing machine, I am depending on you to cooperate! :D

  6. Ah, your Belgian waffle treat reminded me that some years ago we were in a seaside resort in Poland and had a similar treat sitting on a pier in the sunshine.
DH came home last night with lots of stories to tell of his trip, to expand on his e-mail versions. He was delighted to see the robin's nest.

    1. It was an even more special treat because my daughter made the effort to bring it for me. :)

I'm glad to hear that your DH came home, safely, with lots of stories to share. I bet he was surprised to see the robin's nest!

  7. Oh that Belgian waffle sounds absolutely delicious. I like the color of your daughter’s dress. It looks like a lot of work to hem and alter it.

I spent the entire Sunday on the sofa, with a severe cold. I didn’t want to get up and go to work this morning, but I did. I feel much better now, after taking lots of vitamin C, water and coriander tea.

    1. It was very delicious! :) The dress is a navy blue, a lot darker than in the photo.

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. I hope the first day of classes went well. Get as much rest as you can!

  8. Wow nice dress. Good for you for hemming all of that. On Sunday, I audited recycling bales at over 20 Walmart’s and Sam’s. Then Uber eats during the football game. Today, Uber Eats was slow, and I did that on and off until it was time to pick up Evita.

    Your breakfast sounds like Ihop.

    1. Sounds like you had a busy Sunday! I saw my neighbor's daughter having some snacks delivered to the house, the other evening, and I thought of you! :)

The Belgian waffle was from a different place, but my daughter and I used to go to our neighborhood IHOP all the time, until they closed and a different pancake company took over - we tried their breakfasts and didn't much care for them.

Hope you have a fun time with your daughter. :)
