Forgetful on Tuesday

When I was planning out my activities for August, I thought I might go on a return visit to the Autry Museum on the free Tuesday.  For some reason, I had it fixed in my head that the free Tuesday was on the first Tuesday of the month.  I even wrote it down on my calendar and mentioned my intention to go to the museum to a friend of mine, on Monday.  Tuesday morning, I woke up looking forward to going back to the museum.  I decided that I would get the housework done in the morning, before it got too hot, and go to the museum in the afternoon, when being in an air conditioned space would be nice.

So, I dusted all the rooms in the morning, had a sandwich for brunch, got dressed, brought in the trash cans, collected the mail (this week's grocery ads), and drove to the museum.  I approached the front desk and asked if today was the free Tuesday, only to be told that the free Tuesday was the second Tuesday of the month!  Oops!  I was so convinced that it was on the first Tuesday of the month that I hadn't even thought of looking it up!  Oh, dear!  Well, I suppose I could have spent $10 for a senior (defined as 60+, per the website) admission ticket and gone in.  But, I'm a cheapskate and didn't want to spend any money to revisit the museum!  So, I looked around the gift shop for a little bit (everything was very expensive) and drove myself home, again!  That'll teach me to remember to check dates and times, etc., before I leave the house on my next visit to any place!  At least, I got out of the house for a bit and the car got driven!  I'll most probably go back, next Tuesday!

I was hungry by the time I came home, so I heated up the last of the frozen potstickers and had that with some cucumber salad and some strawberries.  I considered going to the library to attend the knitting club, but, instead, I took a nap on the sofa!

Later in the evening, I watered the houseplants, watched some TV, went through the grocery ads, and video chatted with my daughter.  Dinner was leftover rice, green beans, and the last of the mackerel curry.

My joyful activity for the day was going for an afternoon drive!  LOL.

On Tuesday, I was grateful for:
- Getting the dusting done while it was still cool
- An afternoon drive!
- Air conditioning in the car!
- Chatting with my daughter
- Phone calls from aunt C and cousins P and V

Tuesday's To Do List:
- Bring the trash cans in - DONE
- Dust - DONE
- Water the house plants - DONE
- Do more tidying and decluttering - DID SOME

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Vacuum
- Clean the bathrooms
- More tidying and decluttering

How was your Tuesday?  Have you ever got your days mixed up as I did, today?  What would you have done - paid the admission and visited the museum or gone home, as I did?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. I have done the same thing. I have been so convinced of a time, that I don't bother checking on it. You have just given me a good reminder to always check. Thanks. And at least you got some time with AC during your drive.

    1. It is funny, but, I could have sworn that the discount was given on the 1st Tuesday! LOL. Definitely need to double check the dates and times, from now on. :)

  2. You're not the only one ... that's the sort of thing I'd do too! You had a very full day even though you didn't look round the museum again so I'm not surprised you were tired and needed a nap.

    1. Thanks, Eileen. It was also rather warm in the afternoon and that always makes me feel sleepy!

  3. Chalk it up to being a (young) senior, Bless! I've mixed up dates once in a while.

The other day I counted monarch caterpillars in our yard and found 70.
Two days ago I witnessed a caterpillar transforming itself into a pale green pupa! Yesterday 2 more had morphed, so there were 6. We had a butterfly emerge this morning. It hung onto the pupa case for a long time, getting accustomed to its new persona. It must be amazing to be able to fly after crawling on a plant and eating like crazy for ages.

    1. LOL, Bushlady, I guess I was having a senior moment! :D I can no longer claim it on residual chemo brain! :D

How exciting to see the caterpillars transform! It's a miracle of nature, isn't it?

  4. I constantly get my days mixed up and have to ask Jeff what day it is or look on my computer or fit bit watch. I have made it a habit of double checking everything online now because things can and do change and my memory is like swiss cheese. LOL!
