More Cleaning on Wednesday

First of all, thank you, so much, everyone, for your comments on yesterday's post, for rejoicing with me on my good health news.  I appreciate that, very much.

The sound of voices and some hammering just outside my bedroom window woke me up, this morning.  I couldn't see who it was, but, I guess my neighbor T was having some work done in her side yard.  It was 9:00 a.m. and by regular people's schedules, not that early!

I decided to get up then, and had my morning tea, checked my emails, and responded to all the lovely comments on my blog.

Then, I did the dishes.  I hadn't cleaned the burner trays and under the burners of my stove in some time, so, I decided to wash them in the dishwasher, along with the dishes.  Then, I sprinkled the top of the stove with baking soda and water and let it sit for awhile.  I thought about taking a "before" picture, but, I was too ashamed to do so!  I believe I've mentioned before that I am a messy cook!  Things had spilled and I hadn't wiped them up right away, so there was dried up/burned stuff under the burners!  The baking soda paste worked wonders, however, although I had to do it twice to get everything off!

Nice and Clean

Everything Back in Place

Then, I put back the burner trays and everything back in place.  Of course, the stove top will get dirty the very next time I cook, but, for now, it is nice and clean!

I did another load of laundry, later in the day.

In between, I spoke on the phone with cousin P, took the bags of recycling out, checked the mail and this week's grocery ads, and read one of my library books.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A clean stove
- Working appliances - Dishwashers, clothes washers, dryers, fans, etc.
- Hot and cold water on tap
- Electricity to run the appliances
- Library books

Today's joyful activity was spending the afternoon reading.

The only thing I did that was on my to do list for today was washing the dishes!  I didn't even bother to copy and paste it, here!  Everything else is being carried over to tomorrow's list.

Thursday's To Do List:
- Vacuum
- Clean the bathroom shelves
- Paperwork/filing
- Water the garden, front and back

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  2. It's a good feeling to see a clean and shiny stove top. It almost seems a pity to have to use it again. I'm not too messy and cook but it's serving up I have a problem with. I'm a spiller! X

    1. Yes, when one is working, weekends are the only time one has for cleaning, isn't it? I don't know when you find the time to bake all those lovely cakes you make! :)

    1. Thank you! The stove is over 25 years old - I bought it when my daughter turned one to bake her birthday cake - the oven of the stove that came with the house didn't work properly and I needed a good oven!

  5. I have an induction hob so it's just a quick wipe over when I finish cooking and it always looks clean and shiny. Best decision I made when I had the kitchen redone. I can't have gas as I have no sense of smell so can only get house insurance if I use electric.

    1. Oh, that sounds nice, Eileen. I've seen an induction stove at a friend's house, but, I've never used one, myself. :)

    1. Thank you, Akasha. The trick is to leave the baking soda on for some time to do its thing.

  7. My stove top is fairly respectable but I would stand guard over my oven door if anyone threatened to look inside right now! Now the weather seems to be cooling off, I shall use the self-cleaning feature and make it respectable again.

    1. LOL, Bushlady, notice that I never said anything about my oven! I don't have a self-cleaning feature on my stove. It hasn't been cleaned in, well, I am not going to admit in how long! Maybe I'll clean it, later this year.

  8. Your stove looks incredible! Thanks for the tip. I haven't been able to get mine clean. I have the baking soda paste sitting on it now. I never knew you had to leave it for a while, or do it twice. I went swimming at the lake today. It was so healing. Lula came, too.

    1. I hope your stove comes out sparkling clean, Stephenie. Yes, you have to leave the baking soda on for some time (make sure it stays damp) to help soften the burnt on/dried up stuff. You might have to scrub a bit at the stuff that has built up, but, keep at it and it will eventually get cleaned.

Swimming in the lake sounds like fun! I'm sure Lula enjoyed it, too. :)

  9. Bless, your stove looks so nice. It looks new.

I should clean mine with baking soda paste. Especially one side where it's exposed to grease and dust. I changed two drip pans several weeks back, but didn't properly clean the stove. The top is fine because I wipe it after using, but the side is another story. :)

    1. Thank you, Nil. It's 25 years "new"! :D

I haven't cleaned the sides in years! I am not able to pull it out by myself and haven't had it pulled out for me in a long time! That's for another time!
