Sleepy Tuesday

Dancer Tests the Quilt for Comfort

After waking up super early on Monday after only 3 hours or so of sleep and not being able to take a nap on Monday afternoon, I felt very tired in the evening and was in bed and lights out by 11:40 p.m., which is early for me!  Then, I woke up at 8:00 a.m. and fed Dancer, but, went back to bed and slept till 10:00 a.m.  My daughter had texted that she had woken up with a migraine headache, had tried to work from home instead of going in to the office, but, had found it difficult to be staring at a computer screen and had taken the rest of the day off from work.  I responded to the text and spoke with her on the phone and had her check her temperature (she had tested negative for Covid, earlier in the morning); her temperature was normal and we were both relieved that she didn't have a fever.  After I got off the phone with her, I went back to sleep and slept till almost noon!  It's been a long time since I slept for 12 hours!  I must have been really tired!

It was still cloudy and gloomy when I woke up, but, it was sunny in the afternoon.  I brought in the trash cans and walked for 20 minutes.  Today, I needed to rest after 10 minutes.  Afterwards, I sewed a bit on the quilt I am repairing, while Dancer checked it out for comfort, sleeping on a corner of it!  I listened to Buddhist chantings and blessings while I sewed.

Eventually, I did my housework for the day, dusting and vacuuming the family room.  I still need to clear the small dining table and one of the side tables, but, that is on the list for Wednesday.

Today, I:

- Dusted and vacuumed the family room
- Watered the houseplants (I'm down to three now, having killed another houseplant!)
- Scheduled one of the lab tests
- Cleaned the litter box and swept the bathroom
- Brought the trash cans in
- Kept up with the dishes
- Decluttered a handful of dried up pens and a box that something was shipped in

I had milkrice and chicken curry for brunch and leftover spaghetti for dinner; snacks included crackers with peanut butter and some yogurt with brown sugar instead of treacle.

Later, I video chatted with daughter; she said she slept most of the day, but, her headache had gone away, eventually (she took the OTC medication her doctor had recommended).  She will work from home, tomorrow.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Daughter's migraine went away (and she tested negative for Covid and didn't have a fever)
- I was able to catch up on my sleep
- Afternoon sunshine
- Dancer's help with the quilt repairs
- The electric space heater (I needed to have it on in the evening; tonight's low is 49F)

Today's joyful activity was listening to chantings while I sewed.

Plans for Wednesday include tending to the garden with M, clearing the table and side table in the family room, and cleaning my bedroom.

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. Good to know you caught up with your sleep and your daughter recovered from her migraine attack after a good sleep.
I'm sure Dancer approves of your quilt for comfort :)

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Of course, after sleeping till almost noon, I couldn't fall asleep for some time, last night, but, I woke up fairly early this morning, so, hopefully, my sleep cycle will correct itself...just in time for me to mess it up again in order to watch the coronation!
I think the quilt passed Dancer's comfort requirements! :D

  2. It sounds like you caught up on your sleep. Getting enough sleep is always a good thing. I don't do the best with houseplants, either. I tuck them away in unused rooms to keep them away from the cats and then forget them.

    1. Thank you, June. I probably got more sleep than was required because I couldn't fall asleep for a long time, last night! But, I woke up before my alarm went off, this morning, so, I guess it's fine. As for the houseplant, I think it got too cold in my house over the winter!

  3. So glad your daughters COVID test was negative. This afternoon I'm going for an eye test. I suspect I need new glasses and they are not going to be cheap! 🤓

    1. Thank you, Angela; we were both relieved that her test was negative.
Hope your eye test went well and the new glasses aren't that expensive!

  4. Good to see that Dancer is back on the job of quality control for quilts. I'm glad you caught up with your sleep and that your daughter got over her migraine and didn't have Covid.
I have 3 small peach coloured tulips in bloom! The river is higher, but we haven't had any rain since yesterday so far.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; Dancer is back on the job even now, as I type this! :D My sleep patterns are still a bit upside down, but, I think my body is just preparing itself for pulling an all-nighter this weekend to watch the coronation, live! :D
My daughter and I are very relieved that she didn't have Covid (she tests every week, before she goes into the office for the first time for that week; she isn't required to test on the 2nd day, but, if she goes in a 3rd day, then, she's supposed to test, again). The headache cleared up after she took her meds and slept. I think it was triggered by stress at work; she claims she is not stressed, but, I know she is working on a project where she has had to pick up the slack for a former colleague who left with her part of the job only half done and that half not correctly done! My daughter has had to go back and redo quite a bit of the former colleague's work while still trying to meet her own deadlines and, although her supervisors are aware of the situation and sympathetic, I think daughter is under a lot of pressure.
Oh, how lovely to have tulips in bloom! I hope the squirrels leave them alone! Glad there has been no rain since yesterday; hopefully, the river will go down and there won't be any flooding!

  5. You needed the sleep and I hope your sleep schedule is now sorted! It's so helpful to have a quality control expert assess your quilt for comfort, isn't it?! Good news your daughter tested negative for COVID and the headache has passed. We got some sunshine here today. It's actually been fairly warm, mostly 50s, no snow thankfully! I think we're past that now.

    1. Thank you, Celie. Last night, I couldn't fall asleep till late because I woke up so late; then, I woke up at 6:00 a.m., again, thinking it was much later than that! But, it wasn't and I managed to get back to sleep (I knew I needed more sleep than the 3 hours or so that I had!). Even so, I woke up before the alarm went off.
Dancer is trying out the quilt, again, as I type; he wants to be double sure it's comfy! :D
Yes, daughter and I are both thankful that it wasn't Covid and the headache passed.
Hm, "fairly warm" in the 50s; I'm freezing here at 60F! :D it's all relative, isn't it? :)

  6. I am sorry you are so tired but glad you have the luxury of sleeping in. I know you are a night owl like I am and 11:30 would be a ridiculous time for me to go to sleep unless I was exhausted.
Lucky you__Dancer is your quilt quality control guy.

    1. Thank you, Anne. Yes, if I go to bed before midnight, it's usually because I am either not feeling well or just too tired! I'm so lucky to have Dancer test my quilts for comfort and quality! :D Today's quilt repairs came to a halt because he needed to sleep on most of the quilt for quality control purposes, of course! :D

  7. Dancer is excellent at quality control. I'm glad your daughter didn't have covid. It's now a permanent cloud on the horizon.

It sounds like you had a productive day. I hope that you can stay warm as those temperatures are low for anyone.

    1. Dancer is definitely chief quality control officer when it comes to quilts! LOL.
Thank you, Lyssa; yes, Covid is here to stay, now, isn't it?
I did have a productive day, didn't I? I wish every day could be as productive!
It rained this morning and it is currently 56F (13C); the high is supposed to be 59F(14C). I'm bundled up in sweaters and scarves with wool socks on, but, I caved in and put the big heater on because the house felt cold to me!

  9. It was a sleep day for both you and your daughter - I'm glad she was negative on her covid test and was able to take off from work and sleep which was probably the best thing she could do for herself.
And you! - 12 hours! That is so wonderful to even contemplate.
Did you feel like you had been drugged once you finally got up?
    lol

    1. Thank you, Debra; yes, daughter and I were both happy that she tested negative for Covid! And we both slept quite a bit on Tuesday, didn't we? I felt a bit groggy once I woke up! LOL. 12 hours is usually 2 nights of sleep for me! :D
