The Back Garden in May |
It was another overcast, cloudy, and chilly morning, but, the afternoon was sunny and it was warm in the sunshine when I did my walk. I wore my new sweater, today, and I am glad I didn't have to wait until this winter to wear it.
Once again, I spent the afternoon repairing the quilt and watching a few videos. I also cleaned the bathrooms and finished sorting through the rest of the box of files I had brought in from the garage. I decluttered most of the contents (old tax documents) and what is left fit into one file folder. I know that we are supposed to keep only 7 years worth of tax documents, but, I prefer to keep certain documents for much longer.
M was here to tend to the garden in the evening. He didn't need to water the garden because we had rain on Thursday. But, he planted out some succulents that were pulled out when we planted the jacaranda plant in the front garden.

Brunch had been a scrambled egg on toast and dinner was spaghetti with the last of the pasta sauce. Snacks included cheese and crackers at tea time, grapes, and wafers for dessert.
Today, I am grateful for:
- The afternoon sunshine
- The electric space heater (and electricity)
- Hot water on tap
- M's help with the garden
- My new, warm sweater
Today's joyful activity was video chatting with my daughter.
I'm staying up, tonight, to watch the Coronation; I imagine I'll sleep in, tomorrow!
The garden is looking lovely, and you've captured it beautifully with that photograph.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy watching The Coronation. Xx
Thank you, Jules; I'm loving how green the garden looks! I did enjoy watching the Coronation! I felt sorry for all the people who had to stand in the rain, though!
DeleteYour back garden looks beautiful. I wish our courtyard looked as lovely! (Mind you, we haven't done anything in it for yonks)
ReplyDeleteThank you! The garden is doing well this year after all the rain we've had. :)
DeleteI also keep tax documents longer than seven years. They are interesting historical documents if nothing else.
ReplyDeleteThat they are! I was telling my daughter how little I earned way back when! :D Of course, a dollar had more buying power, back then, but, still!
DeleteYou have a wonderful garden area. So many plants. I love it. You are so good about counting your blessings. I want to remember to be thankful too, for every blessings no matter how big or small. Some days it's just harder to find some. But I see your list and I too can see even simple things like hot water and electricity...yes those are real blessings. Thank you for reminding me. Sending my wishes for you to have blessings everyday. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSusie, it's lovely to hear from you! We had quite a bit of rain this winter and the garden is responding!
DeleteYes, it can be hard to find those blessings and things to be grateful for, especially after a loss, but, they are there! I started counting my blessings when I was going through some difficult times, when it was easier to find things to complain about. There seemed to be so many things that were wrong, but, counting them simply made me feel even worse. So, I tried to find things to be grateful for - waking up alive, being relatively healthy, having a home/roof above me, and yes, even hot water on tap (or running water, for that matter) and electricity! Things we often take for granted! It gets easier to count ones blessings the more we try. May you, too, be abundantly blessed, Susie. (((HUGS)))
I'm certain you will have enjoyed the Coronation it was wonderful and very moving and Welsh music played a role. William and Kate's children behaved impeccably throughout. In fact everything about the pomp and pageantry was faultless.
ReplyDeleteWe watched the whole of the coverage from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I definitely enjoyed watching the Coronation, Eileen. I stayed up all night to watch it and went to bed at 6:30 a.m., shortly after the appearance at the balcony. Then, I slept until noon! LOL.
DeleteI love your Aloes!
ReplyDeleteThank you! My gardener brought me some cuttings from his garden and they've grown really well, over the years. I might have to thin them out, next year.
DeleteYour garden looks wonderful and inviting! I hope you enjoyed the Coronation. I have only watched clips on the internet news pages as we don't have TV. It certainly was a spectacular event. We went out for breakfast with some old friends this morning and had a great time catching up. The river level is down quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. I'm taking lots of photos of the garden while it is still so green to remember during the summer! :D
DeleteI did enjoy the Coronation and stayed up all night to watch! But, the entire service is available for viewing online, too (I've sent you a link).
Glad you got to meet your friends for breakfast and spend some time catching up with them. Glad, too, that the river level is down!
When I was a child my favourite book was A Secret Garden. I used to imagine what it would look like
ReplyDeleteAdd a bent tree with a seat to yours, and there's my secret garden. Lovely.
Thank you, Celie! What a lovely compliment! A Secret Garden was one of my favorite books, too. :)
DeleteYour garden is looking very happy with the warm sun shining on it and all the rain in the ground for the roots. I hope California is entering a non-drought period.
ReplyDeleteM is nice to share plants and cuttings with you. You continue to add variety to your garden.
Thank you, Debra. Yes, the garden is doing well and M brought me another cutting of a water-wise plant on his last visit! I don't know the name of the plant, but, it has pretty green and white variegated leaves!
