Raindrops on Rose Leaves |
Yes, I know, "cold" is a relative term. We were promised a high of 70F, but, it only reached 66F and it drizzled a bit in the morning and the day has been cloudy. After bundling up in layers (sweatshirt and sweater, socks, scarves, and fingerless mitts) and still feeling cold, I switched on the gas heater, with the thermostat set at 70F. Once the house warmed up, I switched the heater off. I have the electric space heater on, right now.
Today, I called the vet clinic and booked an appointment for Dancer. I think he's got another tooth that is bothering him as he's been off his dry food. In any case, he's overdue for a check up. I took the first available appointment, which is for Friday afternoon. Getting him into his carrier and taking him in is going to be quite a song and dance, as he does not like being in the carrier and the car ride. Then, at the other end, he refuses to come out from his carrier and can't wait to get back into it! Oh, and he screams his displeasure, all the way there and back!
I brought the trash cans in, did the dusting and cleaning I didn't do yesterday, watered the indoor plants, cleaned the litter box, took the kitchen composting to the compost heap in the garden, checked on the garden, picked more blueberries, and ate them all!
Neighbor S called to offer me more food, but, I declined as I still have some of the food items she gave me. Neighbor T called and we chatted a bit. She asked me if I'd like to have any of her records and CDs; she told me to go over to her house and choose whatever items I might like to have! I thanked her, but, I have enough of my own stuff that I am trying to declutter, myself. However, if I did want anything that she has and is getting rid of (her daughter said they had rented a storage space for the household items they are still deciding what to do with), I will wait until they have their yard/garage sale and then, buy the item! Friend R called, too, and we chatted a bit.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Whatever precipitation we had this morning
- Neighbor S offering me more food (even if I didn't accept the offer, this time)
- Neighbor T offering me anything I wanted from her house (again, I declined the offer! People are too generous!)
- More blueberries from the garden
- Working heaters
Tomorrow, I have more lab work to do for my appointment with my primary care physician on Tuesday. I printed out the code the lab issued with my appointment confirmation to help with checking in. Last week, I couldn't open up my email from them on my phone to access the code when I was at the lab. Of course, now that I printed it out, my phone will probably allow me to open the email without any problem! LOL!
How was your Tuesday? What are your plans for Wednesday?
Oh poor Dancer, I do hope his tooth problem can be sorted easily and his ordeal will not be too great for him and hope the whole ordeal will not be too stressful for you.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbours are very generous and it's nice to be thought of in that way even if you declined the gifts.
I unwrapped the garden furniture yesterday and right on cue we had visitors arrive so it was nice to sit outside in the sunshine with them for a couple of hours. Sorry to learn you are feeling cold when it is so warm here.
Thank you, Eileen. He had a decayed tooth once before and he went off his food, then, too.
DeleteI have some very generous neighbors, don't I? Yes, it is nice to be thought of and offered various things, even if I declined the offers this time around.
Sounds like you unwrapped your garden furniture just at the right time! Glad you are enjoying some sunny and warm weather. We had a fine drizzle this morning and now it is still sort of misty and damp. Cloudy, too, with a high of 66F/19C expected; currently it is 65F/18C at 1:26 p.m. and, frankly, I don't think that one degree rise in the temperature will do anything! I had the heater on for a bit, this morning, to warm up the house.
Every year, all UK cars have to have an inspection to make sure they are roadworthy. My car test was due last week (& I was in Scotland in Bob's car when I remembered) So today I'm getting it sorted, as it is illegal to drive till I do (except to take it to the garage for the test!) oops! Let's hope it passes
ReplyDeleteHope your car passes its inspection, Angela, and there are no fines or anything to pay for being late. We get our car registrations renewed every year, too, and it usually involves a smog test for emissions, and there is a fine if the renewal is late.
DeleteI do hope Dancer is going to be OK. It takes both Mr Man & myself to wrangle the fur girls into their carry cases. Soot howls the whole time, Smoke just withdraws & stays that way for days afterwards. I hear you about people wanting to be generous & gift you things. I just went through that with my garden stuff. I found a home for all that - our church is having a garage sale this weekend & I am donating it to them. (col). I hope you have a warmer holiday weekend & that the neighbours go to parties rather than host any!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary-Lou; Dancer is getting on in years and we all have issues when we get older, don't we?
DeleteYou found a good way to dispose of your unwanted garden stuff! T has a little outdoor patio table and chair - what they call a bistro set - that I've admired; I might ask to buy that for my own patio, if they are putting it on sale.
The weekend weather is supposed to be more of the same, cloudy or partly cloudy, with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. Not exactly party weather, in my opinion, but, the neighbors might not be of the same opinion! :D
I know all too well the difficulties of getting cats into a carrier. To start with, they are champions at hiding under the middle of the bed just out of arms reach. Also, I found with one particularly difficult cat (Lucky) that it worked better if I used a pillowcase. I got him into a pillowcase and then put him, case and all, into the carrier. That way he couldn't brace his legs against the sides so he couldn't be put in. You probably don't want to get a new carrier, but we got ones where the lid snaps off. The vet just takes the lid off and gets the cat out that way. Good luck with it all.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June! I might have to try that pillowcase trick with Dancer, or even wrap him up in a towel! Yes, he'll run and hide the minute he sees me take the carrier out!
Delete🎼...and whiskers on Dancer! I do hope he is alright and that his trip to the vet won't be too traumatic for either of you. We are having cold weather again and we did have some welcome rain overnight.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, yes! Whiskers on Dancer! He's getting old and probably has a painful tooth that needs to come out. Most probably we'll both need a nap afterwards! LOL.
DeleteSorry it's turned cold again up there. Today's high here is 66F/19C and I am finding it cold!
Aw, poor Dancer. I hope it's just a tooth gone bad and easily extracted. I have a soft top loading carrier and the top unzips. Still a bit of a challenge to get my cat in, as she spreads her legs out! I hope your labs went well today.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie. I'm afraid Dancer will shred a soft top carrier!
DeleteMy lab tests went well, today, thank you. They drew 7 vials of blood! I'll find out the results on Tuesday when I see my doctor.
Poor Dancer, I hope the vet can get him all taken care of.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susanne. He's just not being his usual feisty self these days.
DeleteLove the photo of raindrops on roses.
ReplyDeletePoor Dancer. I hope he feels better soon and it isn't too serious. How old is he?
Hope the tests go well
Thank you, Sharon. :)
DeleteDancer is almost 15, so he's getting on in years.
I hope Dancer will be okay. My cats both dislike being in the cat carrier, but fortunately our veterinary clinic is not very far from my house. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules; we'll find out what's ailing Dancer, tomorrow. Hope it's nothing serious.
DeleteI hope Dancer did okay at his test Friday. I will read on and see how it went.
ReplyDeleteI was very lucky with our cat, Lion. He was always such a relaxed cat. I just threw him over my shoulder and carried him off to wherever we had to go. I did put a leash on him just in case something went awry in the vet's office. lol. What a great cat. We miss him still and talk about him often.
Thank you, Debra; yes, Dancer did well on Friday. He went into his carrier without too much of a fuss, but, he did protest about it in the car! They did a blood test and a urinalysis and we'll find out the results, next week. He also received an injection for arthritis in his hind legs and that will be a monthly thing, so there will be more rides in a carrier for him!
DeleteYour Lion sounds like a sweetheart!
