Sunday: Last Day of Anime Expo

"Cotton Candy Cat Maid"
On the last day of Anime Expo, daughter went dressed as a maid.  It's the same apron I sewed for her, last year, when she wore it with a pink dress.

Posing for the Camera
I dropped her off around 9:30 a.m., today, and came home.  I watered the fruit trees and rose bushes in the back garden and watched the second half of the women's soccer finals match that I had recorded.  Then, I watched some other TV programs (a gardening show, some cooking shows) and dozed off a bit, on the sofa!

Daughter called me a little after 4:30 p.m. to say she's ready to be picked up.  So, I picked her up and, on the way home, we stopped at a very popular Cuban bakery for some treats:

Pastries, Muffins, and Guava Strudels

Cakes and Desserts

Potato Balls, Meat Pies, and Empanadas

We picked a selection of our favorite items for our tea.  I bought a few extra pastries to send back with daughter when she leaves, tomorrow.

We had a quiet evening as we were both feeling a bit tired after all the activities of the past few days.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Daughter had a fun time at the Anime Expo
- Safe drives to and from downtown
- No major earthquakes that we could feel
- Being able to enjoy some special goodies from the bakery
- Pleasant weather - not too hot, not too cold.

Tomorrow, daughter goes back to Berkeley and I shall resume my normal schedule (whatever that might be!)

Monday's To Do List:
- Take daughter to the airport
- Do laundry
- Remake her bed
- Take the trash cans to the curb
- Water the front garden
- Dust the living room
- Tidy/dust the dining area

How was your Sunday?  Did you have a good day?  What are your plans for the week ahead?

  1. That’s another pretty costume. 😊

Yesterday I watched the soccer game, did laundry and went through a pile of mail.
I still have to weed and clean the yard.

I thought of my mom when reading about sending back pastries with your daughter. Mom made curry powder and ‘ambulthiyal ‘ for me to bring back. 😊

    1. Thank you, Nil. Sounds like you had a very productive day, yesterday. Yum! Ambulthiyal! I guess all of us moms want to send some goodies back with our children. Food seems to be our language of love!

  2. What a great way to finish out your daughter's visit--with treats from a bakery. I think you should make it a tradition. :)

    1. LOL, Live and Learn, I think that would be a bit too hazardous to our waistlines! We do tend to eat out more, or get more take out foods, when she is home for visits. :)

  3. That’s adorable!
I would recommend Hulu’s “The Act” 8 part series, because the main character is into that stuff too and looks cute. But it’s a very dark sided show, I don’t think you’ll like that part.

    1. Thank you, Akasha. Yes, I probably won't like that show, besides, I don't have Hulu. I don't generally like to watch a lot of drama, etc., most of the TV shows I watch tend to be documentaries or cooking shows, etc.

  4. That is yet another really cool costume.
The bakery would be the death of me. Cuban foods are my favorite and Cuban pastries are fantastic. I think I am secretly glad there is not one in town here.

    1. Thank you, Anne. There are too many good bakeries, here! I have a favorite Japanese bakery, favorite Armenian bakery, Cuban bakery, etc.! Visits have to be strictly limited! :D

  5. So interesting to see the different costumes that are so attractive. It's a different world for me! I loved seeing the two videos that you posted above.
Now, those Cuban pastries are something else. I think I would want to buy up the entire shop! We don't have anything like that near us. I was chatting with a friend who is originally from England like me, and we were reminiscing over the bakeries we remembered, the custard slices, eccles cakes, custard tarts, cream buns and so on!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. Daughter enjoys putting her costumes together and participating in the various activities offered at the event.

Yes, those pastries are delicious! It is hard to decide what to get, but, we have our favorites. :) We enjoyed some of them, yesterday, and, again, for breakfast, this morning. Then, I packed up the leftovers and sent them with my daughter - either for her dinner, tonight, or to take for lunch, tomorrow.

  6. I'd have to avoid that bakery - I'd be too tempted and would pile on the weight! You must have more willpower than me!

    1. I do try to avoid that bakery! I went there in January to buy some pastries to take to a funeral house and now, in July to buy some treats for us. I probably won't go there for several more months! :)
