On the way home, I went to the Armenian grocery store, first. They were having a special sale on salmon steaks ($4.49/lb) and I wanted to get some so my daughter can take some back with her. I bought 8 salmon steaks (came to just over 4 lbs,). I also bought more chicken drumsticks (on sale for $.59/lb.; today's special), fruits (bananas, apples, nectarines, mango), raw almonds ($3.99/lb), yogurt, some vegetables (tomatoes, broccoli, okra) and potatoes, as well. I had $32.61 left in this month's grocery budget and spent $40.05 at the store, today! I decided it was okay to go over my grocery budget for this month.
After I came home, I had leftover vegan jambalaya for my lunch and pistachio ice cream for dessert! Then, I rested a bit, read, and watched news. Daughter texted that she survived her presentation and the panel discussion! She said her supervisor and colleagues told her that she did great at presenting. I knew she'd do well once she got over being nervous.
Later, I dusted my bedroom and started cleaning my bathroom (on the cleaning schedule for Wednesday). Then, around 10:00 p.m., after the house had cooled off a bit, I cooked the salmon, sauteing it with onions and tomatoes. I packaged and froze 6 of the salmon steaks and kept the other two in the fridge to have for dinner on Thursday night, when daughter comes home.

My Tuesday was quite busy in the kitchen:)
ReplyDeleteOh, what wonderful dishes did you make this time? I can never read your blog without getting hungry!
DeleteI hope your mammogram result is all clear. How long do you have to wait for the reults?
ReplyDeleteWell done to your daughter on her presentation. I glad everything went well for her.
And huge congratulations for keeping up with your cleaning schedule. You seem to be on top of things now, which must make the effort worthwhile.
Thank you, Eileen.
DeleteI usually get notified by mail in about 7 to 10 days, if the results were normal or abnormal. The actual report will go to my oncologist. Depending on the results, I will either wait until my next scheduled appointment (in September) or call for an earlier appointment.
I'll pass on your well wishes to my daughter. :)
Well, as you know, there are days when I am not motivated to clean! But, I no longer have the excuse of work and a busy schedule to get behind on housework, so I am determined to keep to my house maintained!
You had a good deal on salmon. The other day I splurged and bought some tuna for $15/pound because I want to make ambulthiyal. Mom’s ambulthiyal’s all gone now.
ReplyDeleteToday I plan to work in the yard. I’ve been postponing it because of the rain.
This one store has regular sales on salmon steak; salmon fillet is still $10+/lb. You are inspiring me to make some ambulthiyal, myself! I have several packets of goraka that a cousin sent to me.
DeleteBy the way, did you cook the banana flower you bought?
Send some of that rain, my way! My garden could do with a good soaking!
Yes, I did cook the banana flower. It was good, but still mom’s taste better to me. 😊
DeleteYes, well, mom's cooking always tastes better, doesn't it? It's the secret ingredient of love that we put into food we prepare for our children. :)
DeleteI'm glad your daughter's presentation went well. Enjoy your salmon.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Live and Learn. I am terrified of public speaking, so I admire anyone who can do it! I think I will have some of the salmon with my salad for lunch, today. :)
DeleteHappy that your daughter had a great presentation. It is always good to know that there are articulate up-and-coming young people around for our future.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. :)
