June Decluttering - 30 Books in 30 Days

My goal was 30 books decluttered during June; an average of one book per day.  I didn't always declutter a book a day and, at times, I struggled with it!  But, I did manage to declutter 30 books.

One or two of these books have already left the house.  The others are in a box, waiting to be donated.  I admit that I am already having second thoughts about getting rid of some of these books!  I am trying to resist the urge to put some of them back on the shelves, but, I reserve the right to do so!  LOL!  However, if I do reclaim some of them, I shall substitute others for them.  Does that sound fair to you?

I intend to repeat this exercise later in the year, in about 6 months' time.  I am giving myself time to re-read some of the other books that I think can be decluttered.

I know some of you joined in this challenge whole heartedly and decluttered more than 30 books!  You know who you are!  Well done!

  1. I always reserve the right to keep a book! Hardest for me to donate them!

  2. Congratulations on reaching your target of 30 books decluttered. I think you found it much harder than I did so you should be pleased with yourself.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. I did find it hard! Even though I knew I had books I don't read any more, parting with them was hard. You did extremely well with your book declutter! Well done!

    1. It is a good book, but, I rarely used the recipes in that book. When I cook, I generally prefer to make enough for several meals so I don't have to cook every day.

    1. Thank you! It really shouldn't have been as hard as it was, but, I guess I tend to make mountains out of molehills!

  5. Oh The Child's Garden of Verses brings back memories. I say that is one that you should save, and substituting out books before they leave the house is fair enough. (Now just don't turn it into a round robin with more than 1 swap.)

    1. I am going to try hard not to take back any of the books! I'll see how it goes, though!

    1. Thank you. I hope they all find good homes and will be enjoyed by others who read them.

  8. That's a good achievement. I have only 6 or 7 books waiting to leave the house.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I think you have less to declutter, overall, than I.

  9. Good job! Books are difficult to part with. To me the Anne Frank one would be a challenge - she was such a phenomenal inspiration. However, if you know it, even revere it, it is within you and the book can be let go and shared with others. That's how I've had to think of it anyways. I've kept mostly resources and la creme de la creme (IMO.). There are still a few I would like, and many I would like to at least read, but I'm okay with not owning them all.
Have a splendid evening (popped over here from Nil's😊)

    1. Thank you, Lady Locust, for popping over and leaving a comment! It's hard for me to declutter my books, but, I made some small progress and I plan to do it again, towards the end of the year (or maybe in January!).
