Productive Wednesday

Flowers from Friends

We had a summer day, today, with temperatures in the upper 80s!

I had a quiet, but busy day. I called the clinic in the morning to find out about the blood test results.  They said the test results were good and I didn't need an injection before chemo.  I was very happy to hear that.

Later in the morning, one of my friends and her daughter, who lives out of state but was home on a visit, dropped by to visit me.  I was in the middle of putting away laundry when they knocked on the door!  They brought me the bouquet of flowers in the photograph above.

After my friend left, I did a load of laundry (daughter's bed linen) and did some office work.  I finished one assignment and did most of another assignment.  I plan to finish that assignment tomorrow and send it in.  Later in the afternoon, I sewed on my quilt.  I am finally starting to see a dent in the bag of scrap fabric!  Not the two baskets of bigger pieces; just the zippered gallon size bag of small scraps!  LOL.
In the evening, I watered the front garden, especially the newly planted rose bushes.  They seem to be doing well as they all have buds forming!  Then, I ran the dishwasher even though I didn't have a full load after collecting two days' worth of dishes!  And I remade daughter's bed with the freshly washed  sheets; I had hung them up to dry during the day and they had dried by early evening.

Still later in the evening, I called one of my aunts to check on her (she is having bronchitis) and one of my cousins called.  And, of course, I video chatted with my daughter.  She was busy making a birthday gift for one of her friends.  She will be flying down, tomorrow night, for a week of spring break (although she will work at her part-time job from home on Tuesday and Thursday).  Of course she will go with me when I go for my chemo session on Friday morning (and probably hydration on Monday morning), etc., but, hopefully, there will be time for her to relax and get together with some of her friends, as well, during her spring break.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A warm, summer-like day.
- A visit from a friend.
- A lovely bouquet of flowers.
- Blood test results were OK.
- A productive day.

How was your day?

  1. Thank you for Birthday greetings. I really appreciate your photos of flowers as it's snowing here this AM and I need reminders that spring is coming. Would you consider making a pie in anticipation of DD's spring break time at home? What is her favorite? I hope you won't take offence but I've a bunch of chores for DD...We use 'spring forward' daylight savings change to check all fire alarms, air quality alarms, flashlight batteries etc. I too like to hang laundry to dry in sunshine but it's helpful to have a functioning tumble dryer. They are very simple machines. Often it's just the 'element' that needs to be replaced and it's easy to look up your particular make and model if you don't have the manual at hand. Even easier are the instruction on You Tube. It occurs that your 'gardner' friend might take the replacement challenge. DD could likely examine it as part of her DIY education with a 'nothing ventured, nothing gained,' attitude.

Admiring how well you are responding to treatment and looking forward to learning the conclusion date.

I wondered if you liked wearing a wig or preferred the soft turbans/hats.

    1. Hon, you are welcome. Hope you had a lovely birthday and wish you all the best, always.

Glad you enjoy the photos of flowers! Our spring is when the garden is at its best. Once summer comes and the temperatures soar, everything gets dried up and shriveled.

Making a pie for spring break will all depend on how I feel after I start the rest of chemo. Daughter's favorites are pecan and French silk pies.

My dryer is gas; I'd be worried about gas leaks if daughter works on it! One of my neighbors said he'd take a look at it, but he's been too busy to do so. I guess I'll just have to have Sears come out and service it (its their brand); don't know if it would be worth the cost - the dryer is almost 25 years old now! Just like the washer!

I like your "spring forward" checklist!

I haven't worn the wig yet! I've been wearing the turbans and scarves for the most part. I'm thinking I'll use the wig mostly for when I have to go into the office after treatment ends/before my own hair grows.

I'll start the Taxol portion of the treatment this Friday and there will be 12 weekly treatments. Followed by 6 weeks (I believe) of daily radiation. It'll be mid-summer before I finish with treatment.

Hope all is well with you and you are doing OK. Have a wonderful day.
