I'm a horrible mother! I texted daughter in the morning to let her know I was awake and to wish her a good day, but forgot to wish her for her birthday, until she reminded me! I felt really bad about it, but fortunately, she was not upset. We put it down to the condition generally known as chemo-brain or chemo-fog! We have spent the evening video chatting. She said she went to the nearby Indian grocery store and bought herself some kulfi (Indian ice cream) as a treat for her birthday.
It was a quietly productive day, today. I completed another segment of a work assignment and sent it in. Even then, at first I forgot to attach the file when I sent the email! I had to send a second email with the file attached! Such a memory lapse is very unusual for me. I will put it down to "chemo brain/chemo fog".
I also sewed a bit on the Flower Garden quilt, today. One step taken towards achieving the "leisure/crafts" goal for this month. It looks like I might need to buy another yard or two of the background green fabric. I will wait until the fabric goes on sale for 50% or more. The background fabric has been the only fabric I've had to buy for this otherwise scrap quilt. The flowers were all made from fabric leftover from other projects.
Later in the evening, I watered the front garden, especially the rose bushes that were planted last week. Hopefully, it will rain this weekend. Otherwise, I'll have to water again by the weekend.
Today, I had a phone call from one cousin and another cousin both text messaged me and phoned me. Two steps taken towards achieving my "family" goal for this month.
As a result, today has been fairly well balanced between office work, leisure sewing, daughter, family, gardening, etc.
Today, I am grateful for:
- My daughter turned 23 today!
- Getting another work assignment completed.
- Time to sew on my quilt.
- Being able to water my newly planted rose bushes.
- Calls from cousins.
How was your day?
Happy Birthday daughter!!! I hope she had a great one!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jess. I'll convey your wishes to her. She had a quiet birthday, since she had classes all day and spent the evening quietly, at her apartment, doing homework. She did say that she received birthday wishes from her friends.
DeleteHappy birthday to your daughter! I confess that I have alarms set in my calendar and on my phone so I don't forget to call my various kids and wish them a happy birthday :) Don't beat yourself up, calling her to wish her a great day definitely doesn't qualify you as a horrible mother, heh.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nathalie. :) I'm just hopeless with birthdays - I'll remember them way in advance and then forget when the day arrives! But one would think I'd remember my only child's birthday! LOL.
DeleteHappy 23rd Birthday to Daughter...[It is very understandable to forget the day.. I know you know her birthday, but when you are at home each day, it is hard to keep up with what day of the month it is.ha]
ReplyDeleteProud you were able to get your work done and sent in. Also getting your sewing fun work too.
Have a great week.
I have done some laundry, mopped the kitchen, and put a roast on for supper.. Proud to have achieved this. Also, sewing on an angel costume for a boy who will be in Easter play.
I will convey your wishes to her. You are right, when one is home, one tends to forget which day it is.
DeleteSounds like you are busy! What fun to be sewing costumes for an Easter play.
Hope you have a great week, too.
Happy birthday to your daughter! My how time flies! I recall when you were taking her to after school activities and it seems as if it were just yesterday. I do the same as Nathalie and have family and friends' birthdays on my phone calendar. The less I have to commit to memory, the better. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Carolyn, I'll convey your wishes to her. Time sure has flown!
