Sunny Tuesday

Roses!

Today was a lovely, sunny, warm day.  The roses in the garden are loving this weather.  I took a walk around the garden and took more pictures, today.

I went for my blood test in the morning.  Before I went, I picked a bag of lemons for the staff who work in the lab.  I've been going there so often that the majority of them know me by name and greet me like a long-time friend!  They were very appreciative of the fresh lemons.

More Roses!

I had to be fasting for the blood test, so, by the time I came home, I was feeling very hungry.  I decided to bake a frozen, individual size pizza and I ate most of it!  It was definitely brunch, as it counted for both breakfast and lunch!

And Even More Roses!

After brunch, I did some office-related work for the better part of the afternoon.  After that, I settled down to sew.  I like to sew when there's daylight, while I can do office work at night (last night, I was up until 1:00 a.m., doing office work, to make sure I put in a proper day's worth of work; I'll be putting in several hours tonight, too).   I have sewn several additional squares of "mile-a-minute" patchwork, but the bag of scrap fabric is still as full as ever!

Today, there were several phone calls from and to family and friends.  So that segment of my life is well balanced.

This week's grocery ads came in the mail, today.  This week's bargains include cartons of 18 eggs on sale for $2.99, salmon steaks on sale for $3.99/lb, Bosc pears and Granny Smith apples on sale for $.49/lb, and 10 lb. bags of russet potatoes on sale for $.99/bag.  I am coming to the end of my last bag of potatoes (there are 3 small potatoes left).  My problem is using up all the potatoes before they start to sprout!  Extra lean ground beef is advertised for $3.39/lb. and pork chops for $1.69/lb.    I will ask daughter to go grocery shopping for me when she comes home this weekend.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Lemons to share with others.
- Friendly staff at the lab.
- Roses and other garden flowers.
- The sunny, warm day.
- Talking with family and friends on the phone.

How was your Tuesday?  When do the grocery ads come out in your area? Are you finding good sales?

  1. Your roses are gorgeous, I can almost smell them from here! I wish mine would hurry up and bloom already but it's been too dry and hot.

No lemons for me either, my little tree doesn't have even one bloom.

99 cents for 10 lbs of potatoes! That's a great deal!! The lowest I've ever seen them here was $1.99 for 10 lbs. I just paid $2.49 for a 10 lb bag yesterday at Save A Lot and I thought it was a good deal. I also have trouble making sure I use them all up before they rot and there are 4 of us so maybe 10 lbs is too much for just one person? Sprouting doesn't bother me much, I still use them.

Smart lady to do all this work while you have the energy so you can rest up when you need to!

Have a lovely day today, Bless. Enjoy your flowers!

    1. Thank you, Nathalie.

I think I will go ahead and buy the 10 lb. bag of potatoes, anyway. One other store was advertising potatoes at $.69/lb! Even if I were to buy just 2 lbs. potatoes, it would cost more than the 10 lb. bag! I will just have to make a conscious effort to eat potatoes more frequently and I'll send some of them back with daughter.

Hope you have a wonderful day, too.

    1. Thanks, Carolyn. The lemon trees were already in the garden when I bought the house, so I don't exactly know what kind they are, but I believe they are Meyer lemons. They are round and thin skinned, not like regular lemons. This time, my lemons are smaller than usual because the trees didn't get watered as much as they should have been.
