A Promise of Things to Come

The pomegranate tree is full of flowers!  They look so pretty.  It's almost worth growing the tree for the flowers, alone.  The flowers are attracting bees and humming birds, too.

The flowers are a promise of things to come!  Later this summer, there will be, hopefully, fruit for me to pick and enjoy.

Fruits like this one, which was picked last August:

Pomegranate flowers on the tree are a promise of good things to come!

Do you have any fruit trees in your garden?  Are they in flower now?  Are you looking forward to fresh garden fruit?

  1. Pretty! No fruit trees here. Well, there is an apple and peach tree, but they don't do anything.

    1. Thank you! Maybe your apple and peach trees need pruning and fertilizing. My peach tree died and I planted a new one earlier this year. I don't expect any peaches from it for a couple of years, but, hopefully, there will be some fruit after that. I'd love to have an apple tree, too.

  2. So pretty, we visited someone we met enroute when we stayed in Penang. They took us to several areas where they grew certain fruits like bananas, Pomelos, Papaya, Pomegranate and even Durian. They demonstrated how to get the sweet fruit seeds out of the hard shell without damage.
It snowed here Tuesday, dog refused to go out. I had to pick him up and set him outside to 'DO.'

We have a lovely flowering plum tree on the patio, now 3 stories high. Most years we get beautifully fragrant flowers but the season is too short for actual fruit.

    1. Hon, I'm sure it's hard to get used to the snow and cold after your recent trip to warmer lands. The flowering plum tree sounds beautiful.

    1. Ooh, pecan trees! That's like a gold mine! They are so expensive at the store! Do you make pecan pie with your pecans? Or do the squirrels get most of them?

  4. This is the first time I have seen pomegranate blossom and it is beautiful! If I had such a tree, I'd consider the blossom the main event - any fruit would be a bonus!

I don't have any fruit trees myself, but I know people with apples, damsons and plums. Bullaces and cherry plums also grow wild nearby. I am lucky that people share their fruit with me, and I repay them with jams and chutneys!

    1. The flowers are pretty, aren't they? Yes, often, the flowers are pretty enough to make the fruit a bonus. I'm glad you have people who share their fruit with you and I am sure they are pleased to receive your jams and chutneys in return. Glad you have access to some wild fruits, too. :)
