Recovering on Saturday

Daughter's Inktober Drawing for "Match"

Getting two vaccines at the same time might have been a bit too much for me!  Last night, I woke up feeling a bit feverish and cold!  I got another blanket for the bed and put on socks and went back to sleep, but, kept waking up every couple of hours.   But, I fell asleep each time and finally woke up around 11:00 a.m., feeling well.  I had my morning tea, replied to blog comments, stripped my bed and did a load of laundry, and ate a banana for brunch.

Then, in the afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., I began to feel tired, cold, achy, etc.  The afternoon high was 88F, so, I shouldn't have felt cold, but, I did!  I curled up under a blanket on the sofa and napped from about 3:30 p.m. till 5:00 p.m.  I felt much better after the nap.  I had a cup of tea and remade my bed with the washed and dried bed sheets while I still felt OK.  Then, I put away the rest of the laundry.

I had debated between soup and fried rice for dinner, but, I decided to have soup.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Blankets and plenty of them!
- Working appliances such as my washing machine
- Feeling better
- Meal options
- Being able to take it easy

Today's joyful activity was taking an afternoon nap!

Plans for tomorrow will depend on how I feel, but, I think I'll feel better than I did today.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. Hope you feel better soon. I have decided a day or two of post-jab misery is better than getting flu/covid/whatever. Off to a 90th birthday party today

    1. Oh, I agree 100% with you, Angela; a couple of days of recovery from the post-jab side effects is much better than getting the illnesses! I am feeling MUCH better, today. :) Enjoy the birthday party!

  3. I'm glad you're feeling better from the side effects of the injections. i can't remember if I had side effects after the pneumonia jab but I remember the nurse telling me it was a one off unlike the flu vaccine which is given every year. I have not received an appointment for my flu jab yet.
That's a great drawing your daughter did, she's very talented.

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I am feeling much better, today. I think that getting two vaccines at once was a bit too much for me! Next up is the Covid booster, but, I am going to wait a couple of weeks before I go for that!
      Thank you! :)

  4. Your daughter is quite the artist. I am always impressed when you show us her work. I hope today is better than yesterday, and you won't need any extra blankets or sleep.

    1. Thank you, June; I told my daughter I would have drawn a match stick with maybe a flame on the top and she mentioned something about anime characters called Mega Man and Mr. Match...
I am feeling MUCH better, today, thank you! Slept well last night and didn't need the extra blanket! :D

  5. Sorry you had a reaction but glad it was short-lived and you were in a position to rest and keep warm. I suppose it means the jabs are working. It was definitely a good idea not to take the COVID vaccine at the same time! Give your body time to recover a bit before your next appointment.

My parents have meanwhile had five COVID jabs. I am stuck on three and have no idea whether I will be called for a pre-winter booster. If I don't hear soon I might see whether I am allowed to request one as I have read several articles about how lack of widespread testing and the deliberate downplaying of reporting on the stats could mean we sleepwalk into a new crisis over winter. Apparently, immune resistant strains are creeping in and hospitalisations are increasing quickly - but you have to dig around to find this information; it's not reported on the daily news any more.

I am wary of scaremongerers, but I want to be properly informed. I heard recently that the community markets where I used to sell jam are starting up again in December (indoors), and they have asked if I will have a stall - it's a hard decision made harder by lack of reliable, balanced information!

    1. Thank you, Lady Ella; yes, the reaction was a sign that the body was hard at work fighting off the invaders! I probably should have taken a Tylenol that first night, but, I didn't. I took one last night and slept well and feel quite recovered, today.

I've had four Covid jabs, so far and the next one will be my 5th. My daughter, like you, has had three and will be going for a fourth one, sometime later this month. She has to fly out of state to attend an indoor conference, early next month, and wants to be at peak immunity for that, especially since she will be coming home to see me for Thanksgiving soon after that, at the end of next month.

I'd ask to see if you can get the new booster, especially if you would like to set up a stall at the indoor community markets in December. I hope you will be able to get the booster.

  6. What a dynamic drawing! I'm sorry you had such a reaction from your two vaccinations. It does seem a bit much to have the two at once. I hope you won't have any more aches and fatigue.
There is a carpet of coloured leaves outside and the trees are yellow, orange, some red and some salmon pink. It is rather cold out.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I love how she did the flames. It's supposed to be a character in an anime/video game series.

I probably should have taken a Tylenol after the vaccinations, but, I didn't. I took one last night before going to bed and slept well and woke up feeling much better.

Oh, the leaves changing color sounds so pretty and autumnal! You should take some photos and enter the monthly photo challenge, as the theme is "autumn colors". :) It's 83F right now at 1:30 p.m. and we are supposed to go up to 86F later. I hope you have a wonderrful Thanksgiving celebration. :)

  7. I think getting two vaccines at the same time is a lot for anyone's body to cope with. I do hope you are feeling better now. Make sure you continue to take it easy until you are back to feeling 100%.

That's a very clever drawing by your daughter ... she has a great imagination! xx

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I probably should have taken a Tylenol that first night, but, I didn't! I took one last night, slept well, and am feeling MUCH better, today. Just a slight soreness in one arm, but, that should go away by tomorrow.

Thank you; according to my daughter, the drawing is based on characters from Mega Man which includes a character named Mr. Match.

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. I probably should have taken a Tylenol that first night. I will take some Tylenol after the Covid booster! Soup is always a good meal to have, especially when one is not feeling 100%, isn't it? :)

  9. Good to read that you are feeling better today. This last booster really was a rough one! I also had a day of not feeling well after it. Your daughter's art is very well done!

Thank you; she said it is a character from Mega Man called Mr. Match.

    1. Yes, I got the flu and pneumonia vaccines. I will get the Covid booster by itself in a couple of weeks' time. I don't think my body can handle it in combination with anything else! :D

    1. Oh, I definitely agree that the vaccines are worth it. I probably should have taken one at a time or, at the very least, taken some Tylenol that first day!

  12. Reading through your comment responses I see you are feeling better.
It sure laid you up a bit though. I'm glad you were able to fall asleep and a nice clean bed to crawl into makes anyone feel better so it's good you had that window of energy to do that for yourself.
I'm glad your life is structured in a way that you can bundle yourself up when needed and take a nap on the couch.

    1. Thank you, Debra. I'm fully recovered from the vaccines now, although I had a dizzy spell this morning, but, I think that was due to something else, altogether!
Thank you! It is a blessing to be able to just curl up under a blanket and take an afternoon nap when I feel like doing so! :)
