Prompt: Gear (The cover of a book a character in Cardcaptor Sakura has) |
Another sunny and warm day with an afternoon high of 84F when I last checked (I don't know if my area went up to the forecast high of 85F). I slept in and then, made waffles for brunch. I made extra to have for my brunch, tomorrow, too. After brunch, I sat outside in the back yard to warm up! LOL!
In the afternoon, I unpicked some stitches on the sleeves of a blouse that my cousin R had given me - the blouse had 3/4 length sleeves with upturned cuffs that were sewn in place. I prefer long sleeves; I can always push up the sleeves if I want, but, I can't make them longer when needed.
Later, in the early evening, I watered the front garden. M had replaced the old plastic auto shut off nozzle I had been using (which leaked), with a metal auto shut off nozzle; the new nozzle was good and I enjoyed watering with it.
Afterwards, I sat down to repair the tears in my grey wool sweater. There were more holes in it than I had realized at first. I had just started on the third hole when my hands started cramping. The left hand wasn't too bad, but, the cramps in the right hand were quite severe. The cramps eventually eased up, but, I put away the mending! I'll mend that sweater another day, when I haven't had to water the garden!
Instead, I watched news and some online videos, chatted with friend R, and relaxed. Dinner was leftover rice, ground turkey keema curry, and peach chutney. Followed by more of the grapes neighbor S gave and the last piece of ice cream cake from S's daughter's birthday, earlier in the month.
Today, I am grateful for:
- The hand cramping went away
- Another warm sunny day
- A relaxed day
- Working appliances
- Video chatting with my daughter
Today's joyful activity was being out in the garden.
Plans for tomorrow include getting my Covid booster and whatever else I feel up to doing afterwards!
How was your Sunday? What are your plans for Monday? Will you be celebrating Halloween?
Oh I do hope you do not have after effects from the booster. We had flu jabs on Saturday. I'm fine but Bob had an aching arm/shoulder yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angela; unfortunately, there has been a change of plans due to the pharmacy being too busy! I'm hoping to have the booster shot on Wednesday, instead. Glad you are fine after your flu jab; hope Bob's arm/shoulder feels better soon!
DeleteSounds like M has helped you with several of those "life annoyances/tolerances" Of course with water restrictions you want to make sure no leaky hoses or values :) Your daughter's art continues to leave me in awe of her skill & talent. Hopefully no more hand cramping. It's month end so lots of hand overs & meetings :(
ReplyDeleteYes, M has helped me with a lot of "handyman" type of things over the years. :)
DeleteThank you, Mary-Lou; there's one more drawing for today and then, she would have completed this year's Inktober challenge! Between you and me, I think she's ready for a break! LOL.
There's always a lot of work at the end of the month, isn't there? Hope it all goes well and doesn't become too onerous.
I deliberately paced myself yesterday (Sunday). All in all it was a good day. I did not go out anywhere. I mostly went back and forth between playing my video game - it's a role-playing game with others - and doing odds and ends of light housekeeping. It was actually very relaxing. The highlight was making a new friend in the game.
ReplyDeleteWe do still have a big bowl of candy to give out to the trick or treaters and I put a spooky decoration in the window for them. But I don't go out for costumes etc.
Monday - back to my volunteering and class at the university. This keeps me real.
Sounds like you had a lovely day, yesterday, Debbie. Glad you made a new friend while playing your game!
DeleteSounds like you are ready for Halloween! I hope you get lots of little trick-or-treaters!
Hope you have a good day and a wonderful week. :)
I like your daughter's gear picture. It reminds me of all of the clock pieces on the clocks my son works on.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. I didn't know that your son worked on clocks! How interesting! That would require a lot of precision work!
DeleteHappy Halloween. Have a blessed day. Regine

Thank you, Regine! Happy Halloween to you, too. :)
DeleteSorry to hear about the hand cramping and hope it settles down so you can finish your repairs. And also hope the trip to get the Covid jab goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteI've spent most of the day in bed. I didn't feel too good when I woke up but though it was due to tiredness and the travelling but I had to give in after breakfast and went back to bed. I'm up now and have done a Covid test which is negative, so it looks like I either have a cold starting or it's a reaction to the stress of the hospital visit. xx
Thank you, Eileen; my hand is fine, today, but, I did some scrubbing and cleaning, so will wait a day or so before I finish the sweater mending.
DeleteI had to change plans and postpone the Covid booster to Wednesday - the pharmacy was understaffed, today, and very busy!
Oh, I do hope that you will feel better, soon. I'm glad you went back to bed after breakfast and the Covid test was negative. I hope it is just the stress of the trip and the hospital visit and if it is a cold, then, hope it will be a very mild one. Keep yourself rested, warm, and hydrated!
I am glad your cramping pain improved. You were wise to take it easy and not continue with any handwork.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your covid booster. I hope you don't spend too much money with that side-effect shopping thing that happens to you. lol
I did some work in the yard this morning weeding & cleaning and prepping a couple beds for winter. I am always glad I do these two beds in particular because they hold a lot of spring bulbs. It is nice to have them tidied up already when things start to come through the ground next year.
I hope you manage the booster well.
Thank you, Debra; I think, after this, when M asks me if I want him to water the front yard, too, I'm going to say, yes, please! LOL.
DeleteI had to postpone the Covid booster until Wednesday; the pharmacy was understaffed and too busy today. Not a problem; Wednesday would work fine with me. Maybe I'll be able to pick up some reduced price Halloween candy! :D
Sounds like you've been busy in your garden! Ooh, spring bulbs! My paperwhites are coming up! They are the only spring bulbs that return year after year, for me.
Thank you for the well wishes on the booster and the spending side effects! I'll need them on Wednesday, now. :)
lol I'm thinking about going to Walgreens this morning for half priced Kit Kats for my husband :)
DeleteOoh, I love Kit Kats! My daughter said she picked one up, herself, yesterday, as they were on sale at the dollar store near her apartment (which is going to close at the end of November! My daughter is going to miss the convenience of popping across the street for some of her groceries!) She said she was being good and picked up only one!
DeleteI'm glad you have a better nozzle for your hose so that you don't have leaks to put up with. I guess using it did tire your hands though and the sewing must have been too much. I've just booked our Covid boosters on-line, also flu shots.
ReplyDeleteI'm not too mobile at the moment as I fell on a trail by the river yesterday. I'm not sure what happened, a trip or a slippery leaf, but I landed face down hard with my right thigh hitting a small root. I'm fortunate that I didn't break a bone but the muscle is in poor shape and I put ice on it and rested on the bed for 3/4 hour and also took an anti-inflammatory. The swelling went down a lot and it is much better but still needs some TLC. I didn't go to the ER as I figured some basic first aid was better than sitting for hours waiting for someone else to tell me to elevate it and put ice on it! If it doesn't improve significantly I shall visit the doctor.
Oh, Bushlady, I'm so sorry you fell, but, so glad you didn't break a bone! Even so, it sounds like you got quite badly bruised; resting and icing is good and so is taking an anti-inflammatory. Yes, please do have it looked at by a medical professional if needed.
DeleteI guess using the new nozzle was too much for me; I really need to do some hand exercises to strengthen my grip!
I've had to postpone my Covid booster till Wednesday, as the pharmacy was too busy and understaffed. Glad that you were able to book your boosters and flu shots.
Hope you feel better, soon. Take care.
I hope that your hands are feeling okay. I am so impressed that you can mend a sweater. I'm looking at a small hole in a sweater I own, and I'm wondering how much damage I could do and whether the rather tired sweater is worth it. I'm glad that M is looking after you.
ReplyDeleteMy hands are fine, today, Lyssa, thank you. I did some cleaning, but, not the mending!
DeleteThey are small holes and I am not doing anything too fancy like picking up stitches and reknitting a patch, etc. I'm just sewing around the hole with self-colored wool to stabilize it and then, filling in the holes as best I can. I am not bothered if the mending can be seen - It's a wool sweater and I appreciate it for the warmth. :)
M is a good friend and a bit like the younger brother I never had! :D
I'm glad you are enjoying your garden's sun spots. Sorry about the cramping hands, though. That must have been a bit frustrating. Better luck at the next attempt! I envy you M and all the little things he is able to help you with. What a godsend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Ella. The other day, when I was sitting on the garden wall, enjoying the sun, there was a lizard sunning itself a few feet away from me and it looked at me and bobbed its head, as if in recognition that I was another fellow cold blooded individual in need of the sun's warmth! LOL.
DeleteThe cramps were really painful, this time. But, my hands are fine, today, though.
M is truly a wonderful friend. He has some clients who like to change things out from time to time and when they have things they want to dispose of, he often asks them if he can recycle them and asks me if I'd like to have them, hastening to assure me that I'm under no obligation to accept it. I've received several plants for the garden as a result and the new nozzle was another such item; I am currently receiving edging stones that someone is getting rid of - I will be able to use them when I make another vegetable bed in the spring. :)
That is cute, you communing with the lizard! (And a little moving too.)
Delete:D We are all Mother Nature's children!
