It's a new month, a new week, and time for a new meal plan!
(We are not going to discuss last week's meal plan as it sort of flew out the window as slices of pizza found their way to my fridge, compliments of, you guessed it, neighbor S! LOL! But, I did have some of the items I had listed as options, including tuna salad sandwiches, salads, milkrice and seeni sambol and some items I had not listed, such as chicken curry sandwiches and sauteed chicken and salsa rice, in addition to the pizza!)
Moving on, here's the plan for the first week in October:
Brunches:
Leftover milkrice, seeni sambol, with chicken curry from the freezer (Monday)
Egg salad sandwiches
Frozen burritos
Salads
Leftovers
Dinners:
Leftover sauteed chicken and salsa rice
Chicken curry and leftover salsa rice
Turkey-vegetable soup
Spaghetti with ground turkey (and vegetables - zucchini, carrot, etc.) sauce
Leftovers
The meal plan is based on what I have on hand, but, I will probably need to do a grocery pick up later this week; I am getting low on salad ingredients and bread.
How is your meal planning coming along?
Your plan sounds really good. I love your exotic (to me) meals!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne. I presume you mean the milkrice and seeni sambol and perhaps the chicken curry, because turkey soup and spaghetti isn't all that exotic, is it? :D
DeleteBy an amazing coincidence, my meal plan for this week has also flown out of the window! Thank you for the nudge I needed to get back on track. Xx
ReplyDeleteWell, it happens, sometimes, doesn't it? In fact, I'm not quite sure how this week's plan will work out, either, because, according to the weather forecast, we are supposed to go back up to the mid 90F, for the rest of the week and soup might not be quite the thing! :)
DeleteMy meal planning isn't doing too well either. I'd planned to use what I have in the freezer but needing to order more basics like bread, milk and salad stuff I end up ordering more of what's already in the freezer :)
ReplyDeleteOh, well, I guess you have a bit of a stockpile for later! :D
DeleteYou make awesome use of food. I love seeing what you create!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa. I hate to waste food, so, I get creative! :)
DeleteMy meal plan is taking an age as I am trying to avoid wheat and I have discovered it's in way more ingredients than I thought! The breakfasts are proving to be the hardest to sort out especially as the oats I bought show wheat in the ingredients list ... Lyssa thankfully mentioned the possibility, which is why I am checking everything.
ReplyDeleteOh, that makes it hard! The only wheat-free breakfast options I can think of are milkrice/rice pudding, boiled mung beans, boiled and sauteed garbanzo/chick peas, eggs eaten without toast. Maybe look into some keto breakfast ideas?
Delete"The cupboard was bare" when we returned home last night so this morning I headed out for groceries, including some items for a Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, but not the turkey yet. I thought it was too early to buy a fresh one. I didn't get everything I wanted today as some items were on sale and had disappeared from the shelves.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back home, Bushlady; I am glad you are home safely. I hope the stores will restock before Thanksgiving so you can buy the items you need for your Thanksgiving dinner. :)
DeleteOur informal meal plans look much like yours--ideas to use up what is on hand. However, we have no plan for next week (or month). When we get our things put away from vacation, we will think about it.
ReplyDeleteI think that planning around what I have on hand works best for me. I don't have a lot of success with trying to have a set menu for each day, but, meal plan options work well for me. :)
DeleteThis week my meal plan is not coming along! I have some idea of a plan but I need to sort out the freezer and really see what we have.
ReplyDeleteA freezer inventory is a good idea. Once you have an idea of what you have, then, you can build up a meal plan from there. There are some sites online where you can list ingredients you have and they suggest recipes using those ingredients. :)
DeleteThere are worse reasons for the meal plan to go a bit awry then a gift of pizza from the neighbor.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor used to randomly bring me pastries on Sunday morning and that was always a nice thing. But nothing like the food gifts you get from neighbor S.
I don't mind going off the meal plan because I am being blessed with gifts of food! :D I can't say no to pizza! Or cake! Or, cookies! :D
