Rain and Tying Quilts on Saturday

Dancer Helps to Tie the Quilt!
(Note the blue yarn under his paw)

We had another shower of rain, this morning!  Not quite the thunder storm that was in the forecast (at least, not in my area, other areas might have received more rain), but, enough rain to wet the ground!  I'll take all the rain I can get!

The day remained cloudy even after the rain ceased, with a daytime high of 71F.  It is supposed to be 71F tomorrow, too.

Today, Dancer helped me to tie the quilt, although there were times when he thought he should be allowed to do it all by himself and I had my hand scratched for interfering!

"I do it myself, Mummy"

Both brunch and dinner were leftover Thai food!  I called R and thanked her again.

Daughter did her weekly grocery shopping and submitted the drawing for today:

Prompt: Armadillo
"Performing Sandshrews from Pokemon"

According to my daughter, the sandshrews remind her of armadillos.

Since the night time temperatures are going down to the low 60s, I set out a cardboard box lined with a couple of old kitchen towels for Mama Cat, in a sheltered corner under the back patio overhang, but, so far, she has ignored it.  I hope she finds it and uses it.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Rain!
- Dancer's help with the quilt tying!
- Leftover Thai food
- Shawls to keep me warm
- Video chatting with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was tying the quilt with Dancer's help!

According to the forecast, tomorrow will be another mostly cloudy and cool day, with a high of 71F.  Plans include finishing up the quilt!

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. I think Dancer knows what he's doing in the quilt making process so you can leave it in his capable paws :) I hope Mama Cat finds her shelter, perhaps you could put a few titbits of dry food in to tempt her inside. It's definitely getting chillier now.

    1. Yes, Dancer knows what he is doing! LOL. I should just leave it all to him! Mama Cat is refusing to use the box! She's a feral cat and while she'll allow me to feed her, she will not be tamed or mollycoddled, she says! But, the box is available, if she changes her mind. :)

  3. I'm glad you got some rain. Dancer really is the supervisor, or gaffer, isn't he? Please pass on gentle scritches to him.

    1. Thank you, Lyssa; the rain was much appreciated!
Dancer is too much! No matter what I do, he wants to be in the middle of it all! It's funny, but, every morning, when I settle down on the sofa to read my book of prayers, he will plop himself down next to me on the sofa and wait while I say my prayers! The minute I stop, he jumps off the sofa!

    2. It's funny, isn't it? I think it's tom cats. Our old tom cat had to supervise everything. He found out what a blow torch smelled like before we could stop him. He was always in the centre of everything and curled up next to whatever we were doing. The ladies weren't so bothered.

    3. You might be right! Dancer is the only tom cat we've had and he has to be right in the middle of everything!

  4. We have had rain and gloom here all week. I am ready for some sunshine so we can see our lovely leaves as they are finally turning. Love that you have such a wonderful quilter to help you along. The artwork is lovely--I see chipmunks rather than armadillos. lol.
Spending a lazy day here (I think). xo Diana

  5. Where would you be without Dancer's help? You don't know how lucky you are that he takes an interest in your hobbies and does his best to help you 😂

I was wondering how Mama Cat was doing so it's nice that you mentioned her. I hope she uses her new bed/shelter.

It's good news that you got some more rain but I guess you're probably not enjoying the drop in temperature. Have you turned your heating on yet? xx

    1. I honestly don't know how I could manage without Dancer's help, Eileen! I'll probably have fewer scratches on my hands, though! :D

Mama Cat seems to be off her food, again. She's probably pining for her friends; she has left the shelter of the bigger lemon tree and is now curled up near the lemon seedling (M cleared the ground around that and she seems to have claimed it as her new spot!) I put out fresh food and water for her this morning and she looked at me, but, ignored the food and the water. :(

You are right! I am not liking the cooler temperatures! I haven't turned on the heating yet (and I want to try and hold off for as long as I can!), but, I was tempted to, last night! I added a crocheted blanket to the bed (the same one I put on when I felt so cold after the flu and pneumonia shots) and that helped. I'm all bundled up, today, and waiting for the promised warm up mid-week! :D

  6. Next thing you know, Dancer will be taking up knitting! I couldn't imagine a dog liking to play with yarn.
I enjoyed church this morning and as it is not raining, DH and I will be going for a walk soon.

    1. Oh, he definitely likes yarn! When I knit, I have to have a separate ball of scrap yarn for him! It keeps him distracted for at least two minutes and then, he starts to bat at the knitting needles! :D
I'm glad you enjoyed the church service this morning, Bushlady, and hope you and your DH have a lovely walk in the afternoon. :)

  8. Dancer is always such a big helper! Haha! We have a cat in our backyard (a stray) that I call Baby Small, since she's been in our yard since she was a small kitten. Looks exactly like Dancer. She's very friendly, so I enjoy having her around. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  10. That was nice of you to set up a box for Mama Cat. I hope she is able to snuggle well in it.
71 - you will be turning on your heat soon, Bless :)
Little Dancer looks like he's very comfortable helping you with your quilt. It sounds like he doesn't like being bossed around lol

    1. Mama Cat ignored the box when it was where I had placed it (in a corner that stays relatively dry; then, I moved it up to the top of the back steps, right against the sliding glass door. She tried it out, once, sat and took a bath in it, and then, decided that she preferred sleeping out in the yard! But, I left the box there just in case she changes her mind! :D
We've had a few warmer days, the rest of the week, but, you know me, I'm a delicate hot house flower! :D So far, though, I've managed not to turn the heat on!
Dancer is his own boss! I have scars on my arms and legs to prove it! :D
