Creative Writing: Meal Plans

My meal plans are a good example of creative writing, I think!

This was how my meal plan options for last week worked out:

Brunches:
Salads  Fresh papaya
Peanut butter on toast
Scrambled eggs on toast ✔
Leftover turkey-vegetable soup ✔
Pizza from the freezer

Dinners:

Fried rice ✔
Keema curry made with ground turkey Chicken curry from the freezer, with rice or roti and cucumber salad
Pasta? Waffles with leftover chicken curry
Leftovers ✔
Or something entirely different! ✔ (Shrimp fried rice and Thai pepper beef from friend R)

Oh, I am so glad I added that last category!  LOL.

So, here we are, October Week 3!  I like creative writing, so I will continue to write a meal plan for this week, too!  Especially since I finished most of the leftovers today (Monday)

Monday: Assorted leftovers (waffles and katta sambol for brunch; rice and the last of the Thai pepper beef for dinner; the last of the papaya for dessert)

The meal plan for the rest of the week:

Brunches:
Salad/fruit salad
Peanut butter toast
French toast

Dinners:
Ground turkey keema curry with rice or flat breads
Pizza from the freezer
Fish curry, rice, vegetables
Leftovers and "made-overs"
Or, my favorite new category: Something else!

Are you meal planning this week?

Prompt: Fowl
"Link from Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild holding up a rooster"

Prompt: Salty

I thought daughter's drawings for Sunday and Monday went very well with the post on meal planning!  LOL.

  1. I love your daughter's pictures, especially the 'salty' one!

And I'm glad that I'm not the only one who is challenged with the whole planning thing. Reading this is a great comfort and reassurance!

    1. Thank you, Lyssa; I, too, like the "salty" one!
I'm glad my meal plans bring you comfort and reassurance! :D
I seem to plan one thing, but, then, end up making something else because that's what I feel like eating! I don't mind because I do eat all the leftovers and I try not to waste anything.

  2. Maybe you can have your daughter illustrate your meal plans every week. I especially like the fowl drawing.

  4. I like your attempts at creative writing but will you start with " are you sitting comfortably?" next time please?

I'm not planning for the next two weeks. I'll be eating homemade freezer meals and then eating out in London. When I get back I'll be trying to change my whole approach to meal prep ... but more about that later! xx

    1. Ha, ha, yes, I shall try and remember to do that, next time! :D
I like your meal plans for the next two weeks - homemade freezer meals and eating out in London. Looking forward to reading about your new approach to meal prep.

  5. Yes, your daughter's drawings were very apt! I have been thinking my life would improve with making meal plans. But initiative has never been my friend. I hope to go through my many hundreds of recipes soon to decide what goes and what stays. Small steps.💖

    1. Thank you, Susan. Good to hear from you again. I find it hard to stick to a meal plan, but, if I list them as options, then, that gives me at least an idea of what to make! Good luck with culling your recipes! I, too, have many recipes that I don't make! It's probably time to toss them out!

  6. Like you, my plans are merely suggestions that I may or may not use when it comes down to it!

    1. Options work well, especially since I don't make a meal plan first and then, buy the groceries to make those particular meals. The meal plans I am making are based on what I have on hand; I just need to be aware of items that need to be used before they turn fuzzy (or worse!) :o

  7. That rooster looks a little nervous! Great drawings. I hope "something else" works out well again for your latest meal plan!
DH had day surgery today to correct a hernia, so I was the return driver when he was done. Also managed to fit in a bit of pdr room cleaning and floor washing before I went to fetch him.

    1. LOL, the rooster was being taken to be put into a coop! I guess it didn't like that!
Sounds like you had a busy day! Hope your DH recovers well from his surgery. I didn't get much cleaning done, today, but, hope to make up for it, tomorrow.

    I'm loving your daughter's drawings. X

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I think they are wonderful, too, but, then, I might be a bit biased! :D
Ha, ha, that new category of something other than what was planned is a good alternative, isn't it? :D

  10. Haha - your creative writing effort aka your meal plan. lol
Yes, the new category is coming in handy and may well prove to be the most used category.
I'm very fond of both of your daughter's drawings in this post.
And they are so different aren't they? The coloring in the first one is so rich and deep.

    1. Leftovers and made overs are taking center stage on the menu planning, this week. I haven't done much cooking at all!
Thank you for your kind comments on my daughter's drawings, Debra. :)
