My Paper Cutting Tool |
Today, in the morning, I called Aunt C to thank her for a lovely afternoon, yesterday, and to wish her a safe flight. She was stressing because they still hadn't finished packing!
These are the pairs of pants I received from my aunt, yesterday:
New Pants |
The new pants will be good for cooler weather, I am thinking, unless I cut the legs off one of the denim pairs and turn them into shorts to wear around the house (I don't wear shorts when I go outside, not even to water the front garden!). I currently have one pair of shorts, in a similar twill fabric, with an elastic waist; a second pair of shorts might be a good thing, especially in this heat! It's been another record breaking day, temperature-wise, with a high of 106F (41C); tomorrow is supposed to be between 104F to 108F. I planned to go into the bedroom and turn on the window a/c, if it got over 90F inside, but the family room went up to 88F, only, and I was fine with just the fans.
In addition to the four pairs of pants, aunt also gave me a new pair of shoes:

Today, I realized that I had forgotten all about the library's Tuesday evening knitting class, yesterday! It would have started just as I got home from visiting my aunt! I could have still gone to it (or gone there, directly), if I had only remembered it! I even forgot to put it on my To Do List for today! Oh, well, next week, I suppose. In any case, I had just spent the afternoon with aunt and cousin; that was enough social interaction for one day.
I had a scrambled egg and toast for brunch, today. Then, I did the dishes - rinsed and put some in the dishwasher and washed a few others by hand. I removed the burner liners from the stove and put them in the dishwasher to wash, as well. In the meantime, I cleaned the stove top and the area under the burners with baking soda and wiped down the counters. Then, I did some paperwork and tidied and wiped down the family room coffee table (it was looking messy and I was getting tired of seeing the mess!)
I had an ice cream bar in the afternoon, to cool off! Later, I had a cucumber salad and a cup of tea. A beef tamale, from the freezer, for dinner:

As soon as I came inside, I removed my clothes and washed them, immediately, just in case, using the "Very Low" setting for water. And I sprayed the pair of sneakers I wore outside when watering. I think I should buy another container or two of flea spray and keep on hand!
I should make a shopping list:
- Flea spray (indoors and out)
- Vacuum cleaner bags
- Bleach
Today, I am grateful for:
- Being on vacation!
- The new clothes and shoes
- What I was able to accomplish, today
- Video chatting with my daughter
- Being able to water the front garden without becoming a part of a flea circus!
Wednesday's To Do List:
- Clean the bathrooms - DID ONE
- Buy milk - THURSDAY
- Put away laundry - DONE - but I don't have any more room in my linen closet for all these quilts and blankets, I am washing!
- Do another load of laundry - DONE
- Do the dishes/run the dish washer - DONE
- Empty the dishwasher - DONE
- Clean the stove top - DONE
- Clean the kitchen counters - DONE
- Tidy family room coffee table - DONE
- Paperwork - DID SOME
- Water the garden - DONE
- Clean the litter box - will do before going to bed
In between these tasks, I combed Dancer (found 1 flea on him), read more of my library book (finished the second section), watched some news on TV, read other blogs, etc.
Thursday's To Do List:
- Clean the other bathroom
- Buy milk
- Pharmacy to pick up prescription refill (if ready)
- Do a load of laundry
- Paperwork/filing
I might add other items to the to do list, as I go!
How was your Wednesday? What have you planned for Thursday?
I'm smiling as I look at the safety scissors you've used Bless. Bet it doesn't seem two minutes since DD was using them herself does it.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly did well with the clothes and shoes from your Aunt. I would definitely consider cutting one pair of trousers down into shorts.... and I'd wear them in the front garden lol. If you don't even do that I have no doubt you'd be shocked at the fact people over here seem to think it's acceptable to wear their pyjamas to drop children off at school and even to go to the supermarket wearing them! It always makes me feel slightly queasy seeing that in a food store. I can only hope they've at least showered and changed into a clean pair but I have my doubts.
The sun is still shining over here but thankfully we haven't hit temperatures of 41C! Keep cool and have a lovely day. xx
I honestly don't know where the time has flown, Suzanne. I look at my daughter and wonder when she grew up! Wasn't she a little girl, just yesterday?
DeletePeople here wear fleece pants (they look just like pyjamas and my daughter wears them as such) to go shopping, etc. I'm fine with what others choose to wear - their choice, not mine. :)
Glad you are getting to enjoy a sunny and warm summer; I know you get cold, easily, just like me, so enjoy being warm before the winter weather sets in.
Hahaa now I know the secret of your paper cutting technique. PINK scissors! They have to be pink. LOL
ReplyDeleteSeriously I am impressed. I rarely makes card, so I don't want to buy special tools. I think I just have to be patient to get a cleaner cut. Next time when I try to blame my poor scissors , I will think about you and be patient. 😊
Yes, the power of pink! :D I bought a few pairs of scissors with decorative edges when I did scrapbooking and I realize that all the specialized tools help to make the end product - scrapbooks, cards, sewing projects, etc. - look that much better, but I am all for keeping things as simple as possible. Maybe if I made dozens of cards for sale, then, I might invest in a couple of specialized tools. :)
DeleteIt's a full time job fighting those fleas. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Live and Learn. I guess I can't let my guard down any time soon!
Delete"without becoming a part of a flea circus!" Ha. Too funny! Keep in mind I am laughing with you, not at you. I know how stressful this flea problem is for you.
ReplyDeleteWow! Look at you go. You are a house on fire. When you become bored, come on over to my house. I have lots to keep you busy here. Your life has become so busy you forgot about your knitting group. Too bad. You will have to put it down into your new schedule, which seems to be evolving quite quickly.
You have a box to contain all your card-making supplies? I have a whole room and the contents are constantly spilling out into other areas of my house. Since you make such beautiful cards, I may need to rethink my own needs (ahem...having just bought some new colouring markers to add to my collections)
That was a wonderful gift of shoes and pants from your Aunt. I am sure you will make great use of those items, especially with a little adjustments made in the sewing department.
I'm glad you appreciate my sense of humor, Susan. :D Sometimes, you have to laugh, because, otherwise, you'll cry!
DeleteOh, I'd love to visit you and help you with some of your projects! I can't believe I forgot about the knitting group! I had been looking forward to it, but I didn't write it down!
I actually have a couple of boxes and some paper storage containers, as well. But there are two containers that I take out when I get ready to make cards - a round box with all the scissors, some trimmings, and glue, etc., and a big, square lidded box where I store some of the papers, stencils, etc. One of these days, I'll get the spare bedroom tidied and organized so I can turn it into a craft room. :)
Those are very good-looking shoes and it is great that they fit you well.
ReplyDeleteIt really seems that the battle of the fleas is being won, but you are wise to keep checking and taking steps to make sure they don't get a foothold again.
I hope your Aunt and entourage have a wonderful trip. I was 17 when I went to Lourdes so that is nearly 60 years ago. I was staying with a French family who took me there. I am glad I have been there once. I'm sure it is busier now.
My nap yesterday paid off as I have been able to sort out the leftovers in the fridge and put some chicken carcass into a pot for broth, and I've cleaned the bathroom while listening to a talk on the computer!
I have decided that they will be the ideal shoes to wear to temple (we remove our shoes when at the temple), because they are easy to put back on after I slip them off! Or, even to go to the doctor's, etc. I will definitely wear them when I visit my aunt, next!
DeleteOh, I am hoping I will win the battle! I went out to the back garden, this afternoon, and I didn't see anything on my clothes, and not even when I went to collect the mail. Of course, this was during the afternoon, and they are supposed to hide when it is so hot and sunny, coming out during the cooler hours of the morning and evening.
From what I've heard (and seen from pictures other relatives have posted), Lourdes is a busy place, with crowds of pilgrims and visitors. I have never been there, myself, though.
Glad your nap, yesterday, energized you! I find it interesting that I took a nap every day that first week of vacation, but haven't felt the need for one, since! I can only suppose that I must have been really tired, back then!
Hope you are enjoying the rest of your day, Bushlady.
