Saturday: Visiting with Friend R

I read the first one third of my library book, last nigh, staying up till 4:00 a.m. to do so!  It was 4:30 a.m. before I fell asleep!

I was up at 10:00 a.m.  I had a cup of coffee, checked blog comments, and commented on a couple of other blogs.  Then, I took a shower and got dressed.  I decided to check on the outside flea situation, so wore my long white skirt and a white hoodie type sweatshirt to go outside.  I went out from my back door, through the garage, to the front.  So far, so good.  However, when I walked from the mail box to the front door and back, I noticed that there were little specks of brown on my skirt!  I don't know if they are from the plants growing on the side of the walkway or from the door mats I have outside the door.  Obviously, yesterday's spraying with the outdoor spray wasn't enough.  I didn't have anymore outdoor spray, but I sprayed the area with some of the indoor spray that I had!  Then, I went back inside and put the clothes I was wearing in the washer and ran a small load!

When friend R called to tell me that she was on her way over, I asked her to come from the back door in order to avoid the fleas!  We chatted for a bit and then, I drove her to U-Haul to get the shipping boxes she wanted.  Afterwards, we went to our favorite Thai food place to get some lunch.  We ordered it to go - beef fried rice, glass noodle salad, and pepper shrimp.  My friend treated me to lunch, today.

We spent the afternoon at home, having lunch and chatting.  Later, we had tea and then, I took her to the smaller Armenian grocery store to buy the bakery bread that we both like.  She bought me a container of raspberries, as well.  Then, I drove her back to her apartment and came home.

Today, I am grateful for:

- My friend's visit and company
- Being able to help her get her shipping boxes
- My friend treating me to lunch
- Tea and conversation
- Washing machines!

  1. I love reading like that, staying up late because I just can't put the book down. It sounds like you had a lovely Saturday.

I'm just taking today (Sunday) easy. You can read about it in my post but I was taken ill yesterday. I'm 99% sure it was to do with the heat but to be on the safe side, I'm having a 'feet up' sort of day.

    1. I read your post, Eileen. It sounds like you might have been dehydrated.

I got dehydrated once and blacked out - fell in the bathroom at home and knocked my head on the edge of the bathtub! Fortunately, I've a hard head and nothing cracked open! Had a big bump, though! Still have a dent in my head, where it knocked on the edge of the shower door railing!

It might be a good idea to carry a bottle of water with you when you go out and about and regularly take sips of it to keep yourself hydrated, especially when it is so hot. Don't wait until you feel thirsty to drink some water - they say you are already dehydrated by the time you feel thirsty!

    2. I did have plenty to drink but agree that it was probably dehydration. I'm investing in a good water bottle to carry around with me and I'll see how it goes. Although I have high blood pressure I occasionally have periods of low blood pressure which the doctor is monitoring and when that happens I do faint. However, yesterday's episode wasn't quite the same so, although it wasn't hot in the cathedral, I think the episode may be down to not drinking enough for the conditions. It was a very hot day!

    3. Yes, I, too, have high blood pressure and on medications for it; there was a time (right about when I experienced my black out) when my pressure had been fluctuating, too. I, too, was being monitored and the doctors made adjustments to my medications until we found a good dosage. Hope your monitoring will result in a good dosage level for you, too. In the meantime, keep up with the water, as well. 8-12 8-oz. glasses a day is what I was told!

  2. On Saturday I decided to make up a week-end To-Do list of all the things that need my attention YESTERDAY, trying to catch up on all those neglected tasks from the three weeks I was away. On the top of the list was "write comments on blogs I follow", and although it was top of list I was not able to follow through. My week-end list of to-do's is now my list of goals for August. I have more than filled a page in my composition book. The only way I am going to be able to comment on blogs is to start today and forget about the past blogs. I am still trying to catch up.

I have been commiserating with you on the flea problem. It is indeed very stressful but it sounds as though you have got on top of it. The amount of laundry you have done and the number of times you have changed out the dust covers and bed sheets is exhausting, but worth all the effort to eradicate the problem. How has retirement been for you so far? *laugh* I'm joking. I know that despite how busy you have been, you have also been visiting with friends and family and even getting some book-learnin' in there as well. As soon as I catch my breath I might pick up a book as well.

    1. Susan, commenting on the blogs should be way down on your list! But, thank you, nonetheless for taking the time to comment on mine! Much appreciated. :)

That is good that you spread out your weekend to do list over August. Especially if they are big tasks, like "weed the garden" and "clean the house". In that case, you need to break it down to "weed the garden for 1 hour each day" and "clean the living room" or "vacuum the house".

Yes, I am doing what I can to deal with the fleas. I am just grateful that this didn't happen when I was having treatments when I couldn't have done anything, and that the old washing machine is still working!

Retirement has been pretty good, so far! As you can see, I haven't had time to get bored, yet! :D
