How about you?  Did you make a meal plan last week?  If so, did you follow it?  Are you making a meal plan for this week?

  1. The joys of meal planning ensure all the left overs get eaten. With price of food that is a very important part of our meal planning. I caught up with your garden tours. Such variety of plants & at every turn something interesting to look at, somewhere to explore!

    1. Yes, meal planning helps with using up those leftovers! I try not to waste food, although, occasionally, I have had something go bad on me sooner than I had expected it to! As you can imagine, I'm not very happy when that happens!

Thank you, Mary-Lou; the garden is limping along! I'm looking on this time of restricted watering as an opportunity to edit the garden! :D

  2. It seems as if all of your friends are good cooks from the pictures you show us. Is there ever a week that goes by when you don't exchange food with someone?

    1. It does seem like I am always exchanging food with someone, doesn't it? LOL. Neighbor S and her family are all very good cooks (although, I believe the pizza was ordered!) and they are generous, too, always sharing with me. :)

  3. I like the sound of week 4's meal ideas. I haven't planned but will be using my Simply Cook spice kits this week for my main meals. I have all the ingredients in stock so if will be a nice easy week with plenty of leftovers. Lunches will come from the freezer and breakfasts will either be fruit or eggs.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. I planned my meals based on what I have on hand because I am determined not to go grocery shopping again until August, having already dipped into August's grocery budget to stock up! (I'm not even counting what I spent at the Sri Lankan store!)
I think you did your meal planning when you decided which spice kits to order! Are you enjoying cooking with the spice kits?

    2. Yes, I am. They provide a recipe card which is very easy to follow. I'll be getting a selection every month from now on.

  4. It all sounds delicious. I'm currently working on some items in the freezer that can be used, as well as buying some other food.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I've just come in from watering the garden and put some rice to boil, cooked the cabbage stir fry, and warmed up the shrimp curry. Just waiting for the rice to finish cooking to have dinner! :) I'm glad I had meal planned and had taken out the shrimp to thaw and knew just what I was going to cook! I like having things in the freezer that are already cooked for days like today. Sounds like you are doing well with using what you have in the freezer and supplementing it with other items. :)

  5. That pizza salad and cake sure look good, my mouth is watering! You always seem to have a good variety of food, Bless, I sometimes feel stuck in a rut with my meals. I haven't written a meal plan this week and I know we are eating out on Friday for our Grandson's birthday treat. It will all be a bit slapdash, I'm afraid.

    1. It was all very delicious! I'm grateful to my neighbor for sharing their meal with me. I sometimes feel that I tend to eat the same things, but, meal planning helps with making sure there's variety. I sometimes look over older meal plans to see if there's something I haven't had, recently.
The important thing is to have something to eat, even if it is the same thing several days in a row or from week to week. I'm sure you'll be able to have some delicious meals in the coming week and enjoy celebrating your grandson's birthday meal with him!

  6. Your cake looks lovely, I admit to having a sweet tooth, I would choose a dessert over a starter every time. Your meal plan looks good, using up leftovers so there is no food waste, very good.

    1. The cake reminded me a little of trifle or a tiramisu without the coffee. It was very good! I love my desserts! I shouldn't, but, I do! :D Thank you, Eileen. I try not to waste any food. I do have a small piece of cheese that went moldy before I could finish it - should have grated it and frozen it, but, didn't!
