Not So Good on Wednesday

I must have eaten something that disagreed with me last night, or, maybe it was the glass of apple juice that I drank with my dinner, but, I woke up with an upset stomach this morning and threw up, too.  Not a good start to the day!  I stayed in bed most of the morning, getting up later to unlock the gate for M.

I started feeling a little better around 11:00 a.m. and did a few things, including reply to blog comments.

I called neighbor T's daughter K and left a message asking after her mother.  K returned my call, later, with an update about her mother.  T has fractured her hip, but, apparently, it is not a big fracture and she doesn't need surgery.  She will be transferred from the hospital to a rehab center to recover and she will be receiving physical therapy while she is there.  K thinks her mother will be there for a week or two before she can come home.  When my mother fell and fractured her hip, she required hip replacement surgery and she was in a convalescent home for several weeks while she recovered; she still needed a lot of care when she came home, though.  I asked K about T's dog and K said she took the dog to her apartment.

I informed M about T because he tends to her garden, too.  He said he will text K, later.  M watered the garden today and tidied up the place.

I called neighbor E to ask if he knew of anyone named Gustavo in the neighborhood, because I had a package with his name delivered to my address and he didn't, but, he said he'll ask around.  We both think it is someone living next door, but, I don't know why they'd want their packages delivered to me!  The delivery person didn't make a mistake because the street address on the package has my house number.

The other thing I did while I felt up to it was do a load of laundry and put new dust sheets on the family room sofas.

Then, around 3:00 p.m., I felt tired and napped on and off on the sofa until 5:00 p.m., when my daughter called me.  It's a little after 7:30 p.m., now, and I'm feeling tired, again.

I ate some saltine crackers and drank lemon lime soda (Sprite) all day.  A short time ago, I ate half an apple.  I don't feel like eating anything else, but, maybe I'll eat the rest of the apple or some dry cereal before I go to sleep.

Today, I am grateful for:
- I've not been sick after that one time in the morning
- Crackers and lemon lime soda
- M tending to the garden for me
- T's fracture doesn't require surgery
- Afternoon naps

I didn't do anything that I can consider a joyful activity, today; I will have to make up for it, tomorrow.

No big plans for tomorrow.  Hopefully, I'll feel well enough to do the vacuuming I didn't do today.

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. Get well soon! I spent all day making a memory Bear. In the evening when it was cooler I went outside and did some gardening

    1. Thank you, Angela; feeling much better, today. Sounds like you had a busy day, yesterday! But, knowing how much those memory bears mean to the recipients makes the time and effort it takes to make them very worthwhile, doesn't it? Hope your garden is coming along nicely. :)

  2. Sorry to learn that you have been unwell, I hope you will be feeling much better soon. Your poor neighbour having broken her hip but a blessing she won't need surgery, I'm glad her daughter is on hand to care of her and the dog. Are you not able to check with the neighbour about the parce although I think you mentioned once about here being a language barrier? Tke care and rest if you need to, housework can wait.

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I'm feeling much better, today. Yes, it is a blessing that T doesn't require surgery; I think she'll recover more quickly without surgery. Yes, I suppose I could check with the neighbors if someone by that name lives there. I do wonder why they gave my address as the delivery address, instead of their own address. As for housework, I am doing the minimum, today. :)

  3. I hope today finds you continuing to get better, although I imagine you'll be tired because you haven't had much to eat. Sorry about T's hip but glad it wasn't more serious. My mother broke both of hers (one 3 weeks after the other), and she required surgery for both and several weeks in rehab.

    1. Thank you, June; I'm feeling much better, today. I heard on the news, yesterday, about the death of the actor who played Wally, and thought of you! :)
Yes, I'm glad T doesn't require surgery; but, even so, I think it will take a little time for her fracture to heal. I just hope she will have someone to take care of her for a few days after she comes home.

  5. I hope you are over whatever made you sick and continue to feel better. Sometimes certain foods just don't agree with us, and I hope that's all it was. Sorry to hear that T broke her hip, but glad it doesn't require surgery. I think you should be careful with that package. I'd just give it to the post man, write "not at this address" on it. It can go back to sender. I've read that sending things to a wrong address can mean illegal deals going on. And it sounds like those neighbors aren't the most trustworthy. Please take it easy today and get fully recovered.

    1. Thank you, Celie; I'm feeling much better, today. Yes, I think it was just something I ate and not anything else.
I hope T will recover well; I'm glad she doesn't have to have surgery.
Thank you for cautioning me about the package, Celie; I never even considered that, although I did wonder why it was sent to my address! I did check the address it was sent from and it seems to be a residence, not a business. The package was delivered by UPS, so the mail carrier wouldn't accept it. I suppose I should take the package back to a UPS store, but, honestly, if I am not going to a store for my own items, I don't want to be going into a store for someone else's unknown business, either! Maybe I'll ask M if he minds dropping it off at a UPS store for me.

  6. Strange to have a random stomach-upset like that. I hope it passed quickly and you feel OK now. Good luck tracking down Gustavo! If it is one of the nextdoor neighbours, I suppose they accidentally typed in the wrong number when they placed the order. UK street numbers are usually two numbers apart, with evens on one side of the road and odds on the other, but my street is different so if I accidentally typed in a number one digit higher or lower than my actual door number, the parcel would go to a totally different part of the street and I am sure the people there would not know me! Several times I have had post, including flower deliveries, of people who moved away about ten years ago. Luckily I was in when the deliveries were made so was able to tell the postman that they were not for me. She returned them but it was such a waste as I am sure the flowers must have been dead by the time they got back to the point of origin. Yet it has happened more than once!

    1. I guess I ate something that disagreed with me! But, it seems to have passed and I'm feeling much better, today. I'll just be careful about what I put into my stomach, today, too. :)
Street numbering here are odds on one side and evens on the other side. But, on my street, at least, they are not consecutive numbers! I think when they first zoned and built these houses, they anticipated additional houses would be built and left room for additional house numbers!
I could go over to nextdoor and ask if someone by that name lived there, but, Celie, in her comment above, has alerted me to another possibility why packages are being mailed to a different address, as she has read that it sometimes happens when there are illegal dealings going on! If that is so, then, I don't want to have any part in it!

  7. I hope you soon fully recover from your stomach upset. I just heard on the radio today that horses, squirrels and rats can't vomit. But as we know, cats are experts! I used to do an imitation of a cat delivering a hairball.
I'm glad T didn't have a serious break but she will be out of action for a while. As for Gustavo, the mysterious owner of the delivered package, I wonder what he looks like? Perhaps like someone out of a Western!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; I think it was just one of those 24-hour bugs, because I am well, today. I was just a tad bit worried, yesterday, that it might have been something else, but, I've had no other symptoms! That's interesting to know that certain animals can't vomit! Dancer has a peculiar sound he makes just before he coughs up a hairball. I'm sure I'd love to have seen your imitation! :D
Yes, I think T will take a little time to heal from the fracture, because she is rather fragile as it is. Her daughter thought it would take one to two weeks; I thought it would take a bit longer than that, but, I decided not to say anything.
As for Gustavo, the name sounds like someone from a novel, doesn't it? However, Celie, in her comment above, has mentioned that she had read that parcels delivered to a different address might mean illegal dealings, so, I think I will ask M to drop the parcel off at the nearest UPS office for me. Since it was not delivered by the postal service, the mail carrier will not accept it.

  8. I would have been affected like that by not eating enough the day before and also by leaving it too long to break my fast. Could that possibly have been what triggered you feeling unwell? I see that you are feeling better now, so that's good news.

    Good luck finding Gustavo!

    1. I am not sure what caused it, Eileen, but, I think it was something I had for dinner. Or, maybe I had too much fat in Tuesday's meals (the nurse did say to avoid fatty foods).
But, I'm feeling fine, now, so I think I'm over whatever it was. :)
Finding Gustavo is like finding Nemo! :D

  10. I'm hope you have bounced back from your not feeling well. Hopefully nothing was lingering and you are back to fine form!

Poor T. I wish her a speedy recovery.

    Neighbor E - I don't think we've heard of Neighbor E before lol

    1. Yes, thank you, Debra; I've recovered from the upset stomach.
T is recovering and getting physical therapy, according to her daughter.
As for neighbor E, I have mentioned him, before; he had helped me replace the water heater and he'd do some handyman type jobs for me on occasion, but, he's had some health issues in the past couple of years and I don't ask his help around the house anymore. He lives one door across the stree from me (he's nextdoor to S). :)
